Why did the modern AAA audience have so much trouble understanding the durability mechanic? Were there not enough MMO upgrade trees?
Why did the modern AAA audience have so much trouble understanding the durability mechanic...
Here's what the modern AAA audience suffers from
>needing objective markers everywhere
>needing tracking to the quest objective
>a barebones weapon system that they confuse for a good combat system because once you upgrade to the best weapon ever, everything else is trash
>cannot comprehend a non-linear narrative
>cannot use critical thinking skills due to handholding "press x to activate cutscene"
>unironically complain why mechanics that are vaguely familiar don't function like they do in their ubisoft-inspired open worlds
Such a strange complaint given how plentiful weapons are. Room for improvements too.
Durability was a poor alternative to how previous Zeldas handled weapons, so much time is spent sorting through menus thanks to the poor UI
>remaster average ps2 game like jak and daxter or spyro
>replace the main character model with zelda
>Release game 20 years later
>becomes GOTY in the barren wasteland of videogames that is 2017
This is the post of someone with either shit taste or only a ps4.
Or both.
>Impliying having a PS4 and shit taste isn't the same thing
Because it wasn’t needed and it makes no sense at all, having the most powerful sword in the universe of the franchise breaking in 10 hits or less against anything... that’s bullshit.
Hey no, there are some good games on it but unless you're using it as a tertiary system for multiplats then you're going to be pretty disappointed in the lack of decent exclusives.
I've been playing videogames since I was a little kid, I'm 25.
This zelda game isnt anything new or revolutionary, I dont get the hubub about it. Real GOTY would be Splatoon, something thats never been done before.
Botw is standard button mash open world plataformer, + token "omg look at this huge world" views that so many games love to use for marketing.
From what I understand, there is even a castle in this game that you can see but can't enter. Its just there to look at. In which case this is shittier than oblivion, or oblivion in snow, or oblivion in snow with guns.
If no game does anything new or revolutionary, they should just not give the GOTY award out that year.
What the normies actually want anyhow, is PUBG. If it came down to a popular vote, PUBG would be the GOTY.
If we go down to paid off reviews, then this game will take it over splatoon and PUBG.
>Real GOTY would be Splatoon, the sequel to a game made two years ago that I think has never been done before.
>typing all that to show us you haven't played BoTW, have no idea about it and straight out have false information about it
>From what I understand, there is even a castle in this game that you can see but can't enter.
You can literally go ANYWHERE in this game.
Wow, really? Nintendo does it again, they INVENT open world games!!!
>10 hits
The fully powered sword has near 200 durability at 60 damage just for a 10 minute charge time. How much more do you need?
Here's what the millennial audience suffers from
>being allergic to objective makers and anything that tells them what to do. Fuck you. No one tells me what to do
>enjoying barebones combat systems if the mechanics can interact in a flashy, inconsequential manner.
>thinks accomplishing simplistic puzzles and shit makes them critical thinkers and shit, but wouldn't be able to survive the first 15 minutes of MYST
>complain when a game doesn't attempt to reinvent the wheel. A well-polished, derivative title is cancer. Forget sequels. They're the worst. Even when a game attempts to do something new and falls flat on its face, its to be commended and praised.
If you were born 1980 or later, you're a millennial. How old are you user?
38
Respect your elders, user
>HAHAHAH U CAN'T GO HERE LMAOO
>but you can
>WOW YOU CAN, SO ORIGINAL!!!
Holy shit.
>if someone doesn't like it, it means they don't understand it!
Why do BotW fanboys have such a superiority complex?
>>being allergic to objective makers and anything that tells them what to do. Fuck you. No one tells me what to do
This is already fucking contradictory grandpa.
>he thinks hes a critical thinker because he likes zelda
This delusion and arrogance is unbelievable.
...
>alluding to another meme is contradictory
I refuse to consider Zelda good because too many game journalists liked it. If it was such a revolutionary product, it would've been hated by everyone for being too videogamey. And since Nintendo "supposedly" doesn't pay off journalists, it would've gotten an even lower score.
And anyone who dares to claim that a broken clock might be right this time is nothing more than damage control trying to advertise their blogs. Prove me wrong.
Sorry I hurt your feelings with the truth
See the thing is, "too video gamey" doesn't mean that it's too interactive it means they found the game far too hard for their lazy asses.
Why would they give it a 10/10 if they found it too hard?
Well fuck, for once someone complaining about millennials is actually not one of them. I swear to God most people here bitching about them are just kids that think they're not in that age group.
>Real game of the year is Splatoon, something that's never been done
>In reality is the sequel to the WiiU one but with missing features and paid online
Splatoon 2 is literally a shittier Splatoon 1. It's not game of the anything.
Reading comprehension
>babby tries to shill his first open world game
Embarrassing. Why are you people so proud of solving binary systems and succeeding at problem solving aimed at 10 year old children.
>From what I understand
Ah, thanks for letting us know you didn't even fucking play the game you worthless cunt....just like the vast majority of BotW-hating dipshits.
Why did you bring up the game being hard then? I'm not sure of your point.
>Why did you bring up the game being hard then?
user, you brought up journalists thinking certain games are "too video gamey".
I told you what that means.
>to intelligent from open-world games that run above 720p/20fps
Yes, and I clarified that by saying "game journos did not think Zelda was hard, otherwise they would've subtracted from the score". Game journos HATE games that are too videogamey.
>succeeding at problem solving aimed at 10 year old children.
kids know that you don't hoard.
literal adults whine about why you can't hoard when it's easy to just put down a marker to where you found your weapon and a blood moon makes it respawn back.
imagine being proud of being a modern aaa gamer.
You might want to read your first post again user.
Children don't know when they're getting fucked in the ass, blindly support their game and believe it to be the best because they know no other options, and whine about the game not getting the proper recognition they think it deserves on Sup Forums. Adults know when they're getting fucked in the ass, complain rightfully when something is aiming to fuck them in the ass, and don't make shitty threads on games they suck dick for and get mad at them.
My first post states this:
>a revolutionary videogamey product is one that offers good challenge and balances it out with innovation. it does NOT sacrifice one for the other under any circumstances
In other words, Zelda's physics system came at the expense of any meaningful combat or puzzle solving. Everything was watered down for the normie audience.
There's nothing to misunderstand. It's just a stupid mechanic.
>going to fight this one single enemy
>better make sure I have at least 5 weapons with me because they shatter into dust after 4 fucking hits
Seconding OP
I never felt weapon durabikity as an issue. It made me value my good weapons and such. And resource management.
The REAL issue is with the health recovery system.
>cook 1(one) hearty raddish, get all+3 hearts.
>pause menu at ANY TIME
>recover health IMMEDIATELY
>do this as mucb as you want.
That and the "hard mode" was coded by retards. Enemies should NEVER recover 100% of the damage dealt. That's just dumb as shit. They should recover ~50%, given that this game has weapon durability.
