Is there any bullshit with the localization of pic related?

is there any bullshit with the localization of pic related?

Thanks in advance.

It's done by 8-4, people who did Awakening.
So it's still a bit fucked, not nowhere near the level NoA fucked Fates.

Not really no. Nothing got cut in our version if that's what you're especially concerned about.

None that comes to mind. I think I heard something about a minor side conversation getting toned down but I can't even remember what the deal with that was.
Other than that, the localization did a great job. The writing is great despite the story being a pretty basic hero's journey, and the dub is probably my favorite of any Japanese game ever.

No, the localisation is fine. The gameplay is shit though, so there's that.

Gaiden is unfortunately a shit game, so everything this game did to add new features or change things was actually really good. Everything kept original is garbage.

The English VA is actually one of the best things I've heard in a video game. Everything being voiced is pretty cool too. The OST is also fantastic. This game should win an award for its overall audio.

>The gameplay is shit though, so there's that.
It's different from the average FE, but it's far from shit.

Dude, Echoes' localization was so good, they should have won an award for the voice acting. The writing restored everyone's faith in the series and the voice acting is among the best in the INDUSTRY. Yes. The talent employed here can compete with the blockbuster AAA titles easily.

It's a shit Fire Emblem game and a shit tactics game to boot. It's fine if you want a JRPG with some tactics novelty but you have to be looking for or okay with design that flies in the face of what Fire Emblem does well to enjoy the gameplay.

Or you can be a brainless storyfag who thinks presentation is everything.

Not the same guy but having nice mechanics does not change the fact that all the maps are boring open fields and "rout the enemy" missions. I enjoyed it for a bit but ended up dropping it. Becomes repetitive really quick. The art style is fucking sweet though.

This game gave me so much faith in IS to not fuck up a Genealogy/Thracia remake that I'm prepared to buy a Switch if they announce it.

It also reconfirmed my opinion that Gaiden is utter trash

They want to make a FE6 remake next.

I'm down for that. I think Binding Blade could definitely use one, the fan translations are a chore to sit through. and I'm ready to cum buckets to Echidna's voice

Alcohol could be given to adults in the party but that function was removed in the localisation. The items still exist in the game but can only be offered to goddess statues.

>finally win
>have to restart anyway because I used my last Rescue staff in the process
Is there a worse feeling?

Dub is great. Patrick Seitz does great work as the voice director. I felt like Kris Zimmerman did a bad job voice directing on Fates which is why people don't like it as much.

FE6 is in the perfect position for a remake. FE4/5 are so beloved that literally any change would be seen as sacrilege. FE6 is the game that the west is the most interested in but didn't get and can use a couple of touch ups but is such an excellent game on its own that it would be difficult to fuck up.

Fates also happened to have terrible voice talent. And since the voiced bits were chopped up there wasn't an easy way to get a hold of the characters. Echoes did have a great dub though. I prefer the original Japanese mainly due to Koyasu as Saber, but English was great.

Fates tried to hire too many non-anime actors for an anime game and it didn't work out.

Eh that worked well enough for Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and Final Fantasy XIV post-ARR. But the actors they got were good at what they do.

8-4 also did Shadow Dragon, and that was really good.

He didn't ask for a review of the game. Just if there was any localization fuckery.

>8-4 did Shadow Dragon
Then who the hell fucked up Awakening and Azure Striker Gunvolt?

Same company, probably different people.
Also, if you ever see somebody say about how 8-4 was responsible for making Marth a pragmatic fucker in SD, call them out on it. He was like that in the Japanese script, too.

It's the only FE game that doesn't encourage turtling so that was nice

>no villages
>no "win in X turns" objectives
>large amount of "only do something when somebody is in range" enemies
>literally nothing that forces you to move through the map

>not encouraging turtling

I'm glad said it first, because I'd be a lot less nice.

The open but small maps encourage spreading your units out since hit rates are insane and there were very specific patterns you had to choose to not get your weaker defense units REAMED, there were also no choke points.
Also, cantors exist as a punishment to those who turtle.
>only do something when someone is in range
But that literally discourages turtling since baiting doesn't work, you can't group your units up 15 spaces away and let things suicide. Just got done with FE5 and could say the same about that game, probably the most turtling I've ever done in a game.
>nothing forces you to move through the map
I mean what are some examples of things that do make you move? Same turn reinforcements from behind in FE12's and FE6's case? Those arguably STILL encourage turtling since they were strong as fuck and you had to keep your units stuck together to prevent one from getting overwhelmed.
Thanks for being so nice to me :) can't stand when anonymous users are brash...

>The open but small maps encourage spreading your units out since hit rates are insane and there were very specific patterns you had to choose to not get your weaker defense units REAMED, there were also no choke points.
That has nothing to do with turtling. You are not forced to move your units because of this.

>Also, cantors exist as a punishment to those who turtle.
Oh, you mean the (for the most part) pathetic enemies that can be easily dispatched when turtling, even without invoke?

>But that literally discourages turtling since baiting doesn't work
Baiting does work, and that's what I was talking about, retard. Most enemies don't move until someone is in their range, and when somebody is in range, they go for them no matter how strong they are.

>I mean what are some examples of things that do make you move?
Green Units that are in danger that give you a reward after the chapter if you keep them alive.
Gaiden Chapter requirements.
Thieves taking chest items.
Also, if you ever have a problem with Astram's Hero army in FE12, then you're fucking bad. They should never catch up to you if you move at a brisk pace.

I bet you think Awakening and Fates are great FE games?

Or sold in smithys for money.

Most maps aren't small though. Dungeon maps are small but they don't make up the majority of the content in the game. And there are tons of maps with chokepoints. Boats, fields with a river and one bridge, the maze map, Mathilda's map, and hell the terrain bonuses allowed you to park a unit and tank enemies anyway even if the map geometry didn't force a chokepoint.

The examples given here are really good. It's why Elibe is actually pretty great as far as maps go. They punish you for being slow. Not in ways that are unrecoverable but in ways that make you want to get better.

Conquest is genuinely great. Awakening is my least favorite game in the series.

Wrong. It was planned but never added in any version of the game.

>Conquest is genuinely great.
I keep seeing this opinion on Sup Forums often, but I just don't get this feeling. For me Conquest and Birthright are equally shitty

But Echoes IS Awakening. Awakening was OUTRIGHT BASED OFF OF GAIDEN, HALF OF AWAKENING TOOK PART IN VALENTIA.

Nigger, Echoes is shit compared to any game. Fucking Gaiden was shittier than Shadow Dragon and the Sword of Light.

The funny thing is that I actually loved Echoes a lot, but i'm not going to let people say things that are obviously untrue about it.
My favorite game in the series is FE12, though.

And yet it's worse

>FE game that doesn't encourage turtling
What in the world are you talking about

Then you're probably one of those anons who prefers a blend of story and gameplay. Birthright and Conquest represent the extremes and each have their flaws. Honestly, the closest you can get to a balanced story/gameplay ratio is Path of Radiance and MAYBE Thracia

The gameplay is top tier. It's not the same as older FE games but it scratches the itch extremely hard.

Good for you user. I respect someone who can be critical of something they like.

>baiting doesn't work
Fates is actually the only game were bait tactics don't work.

Shadow Dragon is pretty balanced, too.
It's story is a lot like Echoes in that it isn't anything special, but the way they present it is top notch (SD also has the absolute best dialogue in the series)
The gameplay, while it is criticized for missing features from previous games, is still good. Plus you have reclassing and forging to make up for it.

Despite its shit tier story and problems that need refinement the gameplay in CQ is generally more complex then anything the series has seen.

It's so bland though.

Only in aesthetics. The dialogue is the best the series has ever seen.
