It's not the first time Hi-Rez has destroyed a game with potential.

See Tribes Ascend for the last failure.

I feel bad OW players think they have it good or something.

It's a Hi-Rez game. Them wrecking games with something no one asked for when it was totally fine already is kinda their MO at this point.

What happened?

whats happen i havent played since they reworked the ability system to make it setup out of fight and tedius

>no game changing microtransactions
>loot boxes are 100% cosmetic

I stopped caring about OW like 6 months ago, but woot? you just sound arse pained, compared to the literal rape on Paladins playerbase there's no comparisson.

I don't, I expected it.

They turned the ability leveling up card system into a P2W randomized loot box fiesta. You use to level up cards yourself to level 4 but you had 12 points to spend which meant you could have two level four cards and two level two cards etc. etc.
Now what they've done is they've upped the card level to 10, but instead of leveling the cards yourself you need to open loot boxes to have a small chance of actually getting the ability upgrade card that you want. It's incredibly greedy and breaks the game completely.

The Paladins subreddit is pretty fun
They're all acting like childrens

I don't know what is happening to that game but I can only assume its bad and that makes me happy after what they did to Tribes Ascend.

This made me appreciate more my decision to buy OW during their last sale. I was never good at paladins to begin with but damn was it fun. Truly heartbreaking.

One of the times that Sup Forums actually fucking called it.

You guys said Hirez would ruin it and I didn't listen.

If you trusted Lo-rez again you deserve everything.
They will do this to their next game too.

They're literally making it a more tantalizing game for the Chinese market and nothing else.

>98% of the game's playerbase on various internet forums (reddit, /palg/ and so on) telling Hi-Rez if they don't abandon the new system they will leave the game
>Hi-Rez doesn't care
>doesn't respond to any feedback
>one of the employees makes a tweet about how all the pro players are complaining about the update, but that they should have their contracts revoked because their livelihood depends on the game or some such shit

They kept delaying the update and changing it, but it's finally coming out this Monday. The funniest thing about all of this is they had a huge sale on crystals and the founder's package just before announcing the update. Mere days, really.

Maybe, but your game is way more cucked so if anything the playerbase would improve slightly.

IS THIS THE RESSURECTION OF BATTLEBORN

>can pay more for lootboxes designed to suck as much money from you as possible
Which only have cosmetics.

Yeah, and you payed $60 for the ability to buy those cosmetics

Not really, I don't really care about cosmetics in videogames.

Ranked isn't isn't getting a pay to win treatment, so I'm content. Will be a shame to lose the customization. Besides that, the change will not be as bad as everyone says.

By the time the dust settles I can pretty much guarantee that you will be able to reach level 7 or 8 on any character's cards for $20 and will earn about $1 worth of gold every hour that you play. This is in line with a "total cost" of about $750 and will be closer to $1,000 once the rest of the champion drop if you want it all and don't want to wait. The last two to three levels will not make that much of a difference, but give the whales something to reach for. (Total game cost at this point is probably around $5,000)

These are the values that are in line with s4 league and are pretty much the norm for Asian shooters. You can be competent in one thing for $20-25, have a solid toolset for $150-200, and buy 5-10% more power for $5,000-$10,000.

Asian countries hate being completely shit on just as much as Americans do. Fortunately, whales do not demand an I win button. MUch like in real life, they will pay a SHITLOAD more for something that is marginally better, either out of compulsion or just plain vanity.

Are you joking, shilling or baiting?

Global Agenda, that one hurt.

Oh and you forgot the fact that they removed 90% of the gold rewards when you level up heroes, you get about 1000 now.

Under 0.1% of the population and are easily killed or kicked but if you want to let that turn you off a good game then it's your loss :)

OW's population is tumble+league of legends+call of duty and Paladins' population is leaving en masse due to Hirez pulling P2W shit on the second game in a row. TF2's community compared to those is Heaven

I'm trying not to shit on the game, but the community in TF2 is fucking awful these days user. Half the community servers are furry or idle trading shit, probably more actually. I don't have a clue why the furries are so prominent in TF2.

Each card level is effectively a half level. It was insane, but now it is more manageable, with a longer ttk than overwatch.

You can't sell a game to Asians (or anybody) where new players get splattered. Doesn't matter if the splattering is fair or unfair. It's why arena shooters are dead, and so are fighting games.

srcmake.com/home/ob64

The last three levels cost drastically more than the ones below it. Even under current numbers, you can pay $20 to fully kit one champion, and you will earn $1 in currency every hour.

A shill wouldn't link critical information or be honest that if you want 2-3 champs in each role you're going to pay $200. True fans will have no problem reaching level 7-8 on the champions they like. The rest is a 5-10% difference in efficacy in casual queue only.

It will slowly get worse and worse until they kill the game.
This was fucking obvious from the company's past history and anyone who said otherwise clearly doesn't know any better.

You get a free champion chest on your first 5 wins. These are "worth" 7,500.

Gold rewards were not the important part of levelling champions, it was the radiant chests.

Actually according to teamwork.tf data, valve servers make up roughly half of the population, while community servers make up the other half.

Then out of that half, trade servers make up 10%, which is 5% of the total playerbase, AND people still fight each other in trade servers anyway. If you don't believe me just go see for yourself.

There is no such thing as a "furry server". There are game servers which are ran by furfags sure, but they are like less than 1% of servers, and so are idle servers ever since valve made it more difficult to idle and the value of metal scrap dropped hard. It is almost impossible to find a TF2 server where people aren't fighting each other in 2017.

So basically I have no idea why you're blowing those things out of proportion to say TF2's entire community is bad. Honestly it's one of the best communities in a popular vidya.

>It was insane, but now it is more manageable
If the card level is half and they doubled the level cap it's still the same shit you mong, it just takes WAAAAY longer to level up cards to the same point.
>and you will earn $1 in currency every hour
Where the fuck did you even get this notion, they REMOVED gold rewards, not only that makes getting heroes harder it also makes getting boxes harder.

>heaps of options for modding and customization
>highest skill ceiling
>This is what TF2Fags actually believe

I specifically said out of the community servers. Even on the "normal" servers there's atleast 3 furry nicknames per server.

So, Paladins is killing itself because China, and Overwatch is Blizzshit. Is there really any other option for light team shooters besides TF2? At least with an existing playerbase, so no battleborn memes

>Gold rewards were not the important part of levelling champions
That's fucking bullshit it's the main way of getting specific characters, and since every new character is more and more powerful than the previous one you absolutely need to get the previous released characters.

Dirtybomb but your computer can't be a toaster.

Not really no, PS2 is a 3 faction MMOFPS but it's relatively dead outside primetime too.

>Every single Overwatch clone has collapsed

Amazing

That implies Overwatch is original

Pay to win

First 5 wins grant a champion chest. Gold rewards appear in daily quests and at greater values than just logging in did in the past. If you assume a champion chest is worth 1.25x a radiant chest (it drops 5 cards instead of 4) this is 218 crystals of value, which is $2.734, or $2 on black Friday. These first 5 wins are easily achieved in two hours, and include ambient gold gain, as well as daily quest/login rewards.

According to my source, it takes 129 chests to get a champion to level 10, but half that to get them to level 8 (all cards at what is level 4 today). At 5 per day this means you can get the required 65 champion chests in 13 days.

Remember that my source is one that is CRITICAL of this patch. An enthusiast player will have no problem getting the cards to a competent level, or can just pay $20 per champion if they don't want to play the game.

> put in well over a 1000 hours in this game
> decide to take a month off for the first time in eons
> find out what they did and moved on to siege

What I truly feel bad for are those people who kept purchasing chests, skins etc. but then again they'll prob be the type of player to lap this shit up.

The main way is to buy the founders pack for $10 on sale.

Makoa, Bomb King, Drogoz, Sha Lin, Androxus and Mal'Damba have always been solidly powerful and for the most part have been core even at esports level.

You're showing your ignorance now. You absolutely do not need these new champions to be successful.

Why would they change something that was working?

I agree with this shitposter. I love the game's style, but even with the changes to loadout cards I still can't stand that you have to grind for decent skins, only for they to be randomly tied to potentially shitty skill & gun loadouts.

>an OW player
HAHAHA everyone point and laugh

>daily quests
Most of which can't be completed on bot matches, which forces players, specially new players to play pvp.
>champion chest
Locked to one per day.
>or can just pay $20 per champion if they don't want to play the game.
The OPTION to buy power is the problem, if can't understand this very simple basic concept you don't deserve my time.

As an OW I feel bad what's happening to all 3 of the class-based shooters. TF2 goes without saying, Paladins is busy appealing to 3rd worlders, and OW is busy balancing for the lower brackets.
The only winning move is to stop playing games in this horrible genre.

TF2 has a lot of modded game modes. The problem is that matchmaking killed all the servers hosting them, because retards always play matchmaking rather than finding servers manually and going "Oh, what's zf_dustbowl_b4?" and joining

Hi-rez uses loot boxes in the most scum bag way if they were banned all of their games would be better.

>OW or Pala
>having higher skill ceiling and being easier to mod than TF2
i refuse to believe that you are serious

Glad I stopped playing months ago when the ranked mode was full of fucking idiots who'd say "it's just a game stfu" when there's casual right there for them if they just wanna fuck around. Also the fact you couldn't play ranked with no more than one other person in your party is stupid as fuck. How the fuck is a team supposed to play competitively together if they can't all be on the same team? It's not like you can pick the match you're going into so you can meet up. Makes no fucking sense.

they're killing this shit. Idk how they could shit like this on their players. Ex Ow player. Blizzard must be so happy. Now, Ow is everything Paladins isnt

forums.paladins.com/showthread.php?64975-OB64-PTS-Update-5

Read the patch notes.

Champion Chests are unlocked for free via Champion Mastery and for first wins of the day with a Champion (up to maximum of 5 FWOTD Champion Chests per day).

The option to buy power is perfectly fine if there are other queues or ways to play without it. As-is ranked has none of this, and there are always custom games. Even then, if prices are manageable there's no more problem with charging for negligible power in a free game than there is with charging for video games in the first place.

Buy the founders pack for $10, play ranked. Get a new unbound champion every two weeks. It's hardly unreasonable.

Ash is a direct upgrade to Fernando, Vivian is a direct upgrade to Viktor and Tyra, Lian is a direct upgrade to Sha Lin, Styx is a direct upgrade to Kinessa.

New heroes have all the benefits from the older ones without any of the weaknesses.

>salty f2p clone player
Overwatch got boring months ago, but they don't have the bullshit Paladins has, and is still a much better game.

It founded the hero shooter, so yeah it was.

i'd rather to play with a few furry, brony and friendly than playing a game that's playerbase is 90% nu-male, feminist, "gamer gurl" and 10 years old.

>tfw they literally made grinding COMPLETELY optional
i cri

Agree 2bh, atleast you won't get banned for being "toxic" in TF2. Or using a class you enjoy

>mass replying
>outdated dead hat simulator
Kill yourself.

>with champion masteries
So everyone who leveled up a character to a high level got a big big middle finger from the developer? Gotcha.

>The option to buy power is perfectly fine
No, just no, good day to you. I'll enjoy watching this game burn to the ground.

Fernando can shield his allies so they can recover their health ambiently. This is not something ashe can do with her tiny, nearly immobile shield.

The grenade combo gives viktor better burst than vivian giving him better kill potential.

Sha lin can turn INVISIBLE.

The snipers are irrelevant.

>tiny
Not if you pick the proper card
>The grenade combo gives viktor better burst than vivian
Vivian can outdamage him using his her weapon alone due to how big her ammo cap is.
>Sha lin can turn INVISIBLE
Can easily be killed, not enough movement abilities on the character.
>irrelevant
One headshot is half of a tank's hp and Strix can do that once per second.

It's going nowhere. As-is it's a completely optional (and reasonable) grind for a casual mode in a $20 video game.

If you play with fortress breaker don't mind if you uninstall and never come back.

> ammo cap

Relevant at all when we are talking about BURST. Burst secures kills on flanks.

> not enough movement abilities on the character.

Yet he still gets picked in nearly every pro game and has since day one.

thebettermeta.com/charts/individual_champion_performance/

Yes, irrelevant. A sniper pick will single handedly ruin your experience.

>kills on flanks
>Viktor is a flank
So this is the level of retardation of the person I'm talking with.

>The option to buy power is perfectly fine
I often wonder how the gaming industry turned into such a shitty state, then in Sup Forums of all places I'm reminded why.

>only 9 characters with boring guns
>full of underage and third-worlders
>nauseating graphics
I mean, I've had my fun with tf2, but the game is past its prime at this point.

What are you talking about? the game is more f2p than ever

The incredible thing is it's not the first time they've ruined Paladins.
Pre-CB29 was basically perfect, then they turned it into a shitty OW clone.

People somehow liked this more because most people are low IQ mongrels and now they've even ruined it for those "people".
It's really impressive.

KIlls on flanks means SHOTS ON GOAL. The flank is the target.

You are trying to kill the flank. Damage needs to be able to protect themselves or catch a flank out of position and kill them. Clip size that can deal 8000 damage does not matter when your primary threats have under 2500 HP.

Even then, Viktor can SPRINT. Of all the damage in the game, he is the one that is best able to position himself behind enemy lines and on the flanks. Holy shit dude.

E N D L E S S P R O G R E S S I O N

Paying for power has been an accepted practice since before the internet. Warhammer and Magic invented it. If the price is reasonable, nothing else matters, and you always have the option to play kitchen table with jank.

docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vT2vOW2IlAHuqTtilB8nynzjCBk9vqtH02DM0P4Ox5bj430hn6T9jaiCyYA3HY1x7Rb_Xr6UHe9Vy0n/pub

>EA lost 3 billion in market value on the spam of one week and the most famous modern IP only sold 900k copies because paying for power is an accepted practice
I never knew I shared a board with clinically retarded people.

It is an accepted practice. The only question is if people make a shitfit about it, then everyone will hop on the virtuous bandwagon, while they aren't buying advantages in other games and think nothing of it.
The EA fiasco only happened because of the virtue signalling band wagon.

People weren't upset about paying for power, they were upset about the random nature of acquiring said power and the fact that there was no "kitchen table" option to play without upgrades.

Ultimate team makes ungodly amounts of money. Nobody gives a shit because you can play local and online queues without it. This paladins patch is no different.

Absolutism makes you stupid. You're blindly agreeing with and citing redditard hivemind rage without actually thinking about things.

>Sup Forums now actively defends companies like EA and literal P2W practices
Holy shit what happened to this board?

I wasn't defending it. I was just stating the truth. Normalfags don't care about unfair practices like this, just like they don't care if an esport doesn't take a lot of skill.

Yeah, I am an entire board.

Nothing has happened. This board has always been myopic and unable to do anything but parrot the same 4 legs good 2 legs bad" shit.

Tell me, is melee a pay to win game? Be careful how you answer this.
