Umineko? Absolutely. The anime only covers half of it, and quite poorly at that. Higurashi... Depends if you are interested in seeing it executed better, and being presented with more details to the story.

That said, honestly, the manga is better for Umineko and the manga is shorter for Higurashi while sacrificing not very much so you should probably just read those.

There's a difference between enjoying and even preferring Japanese media and eating up literally whatever trash because it's vaguely anime.

i remember when i played the KS demo back it was first released, i had convinced myself for some reason that it was different from other weeb shit and/or superior due to its western writing, so i dismissed all other VNs for months afterwards. i'd bet the same thing happened to a lot of people with KS or DDLC now, although i wonder how many people would eventually go on to playing other VNs.

I lost interest in this shit after they fucked up with MAV. Six years and not even a full blown beta.

The only good part about DokiDoki is the art and music, which I'm 99 % sure was done by Japanese artists that they hired.

This is still rare. Not many Western devs can accurately imitate the look of Japanese VNs or games, and many have tried. As far as I know the art for DDLC was not made in Japan.
