Finally decided to emulate my way through some of the Nintendo classics I missed from the GC and Wii days since emulation is basically flawless these days on a half-decent PC.

Decided to start with Twilight Princess.

I'm a big fan of the older Zelda games with Ocarina topping the bunch. I've heard TP is pretty similar to Ocarina so that's good I guess.

What to expect?

expect a slow start, a fantastic mid- and a good endgame. Great dungeons, the best zelda companion ever and a story and atmosphere that tried something different for once.
Make sure not to play it in a higher internal resolution than 1,5x since that breaks a ton of effects. Just use 4x ssaa instead and you won't have any aliasing.

I 100% Twilight Princess on the Wii, I liked it, it's not as bad as faggot here says it's pretty fun

I just fucking hate how Link swims though holy shit

Don’t expect a Dark World style midgame and endgame from the Twilight Realm, because you’re not getting that.

tp is garbage compared to majoras mask / OOT

why are tp designs so ugly? besides midna, of course.

Probably my least favorite Zelda, but it's still a good game. If you haven't played many of them you should like it fine.

>my least favorite Zelda
moreso than SS even?

...

If you're fairly new to Zelda then I imagine it's a pleasant game. If you've actually been with the series since the start then TP is one of the worst games in the series with just beating it out.

I really like Skyward Sword. I guess I value Zelda games trying out new things even if they don't nail every aspect over playing it excessively safe like Twilight Princess does.

What user said, very slow start. Push through and you'll get to the great parts.

>not emulating the Wii U remake via Cemu

BAKA

why didn't you just say you played them. why do PCfags have an incessent need to let everyone know they pirate/emulate everything?

Well I'm a legit old fag (34) so I was indeed around for Zeldas heyday on the NES and SNES and absolutley adored MM and OoT on the N64.

After that though real life got in the way and I never picked up a GC or Wii so my Zelda adventures stopped there.

With all the hype over BotW putting Zelda front and center again (and my own desire to play it) I decided to look in to emulation to see if I could go back and get through TP and WW at the very least.

I'm not expecting TP to be "better" than Ocarina and I doesn't have to be for me to have a good time with it.

Ah, I didn't mention. The 2015? remaster is indeed the version I'm emulating.

On the subject of emulation, what's the best setting for Metroid Prime 2? I just finished fighting Amorbis and there was some fucking horrendous slowdown whenever he jumped into the ground next to me.

just use the dolphin wiki

>remaster
Oh no, another retard who thinks "remaster" actually means something in the context of video games.

You are all fucking sheep.

I'm a sheep because I called the Wii U version of Zelda: Twilight Princess a "remaster?"

OK, you pedantic fuckwit.

Twilight Princess just isn't very good. It doesn't do anything new that works well and its "realistic" style had already stopped being impressive when it was released. It's also full of letdowns and anticlimaxes.

It's not a bad game but there are dozens of better ones to spend your time on that you also haven't played.

expect feels.
Midna is 10/10 waifu

It does though, moron. A remaster is a new version of a game that simply reuses the original game's code and adds to it where applicable. It's exactly the same as remastering music or film by using the original samples and footage. Most "HD remakes" of PS2 era games such as Twilight Princess HD or FF10/12 HD are remasters.

A remake is a game that is based on another game, but made from scratch. Such as 3D remakes of 2D games, or the FF7 remake.

I'm not saying I'm not wrong. I'm just saying I don't give a fuck and calling someone a sheep and retard for such a simple mistake over a word that is used colloquially anyway is ridiculous.

Anyway, carry on.

I dunno, play the fucking game?

...Are you arguing with yourself?

Just play the game and decide for yourself.

The worst 3d Zelda by far.

I enjoyed it, Mid to late game is great with some fantastic dungeons and boss fights.
Also has the best item, dual hookshots.

*clawshots

I stood there in the cold to buy this game at the Wii release and binged it in 2,5 days.

>empty over world
>piss easy dungeons
>the dark story-line didn't quite fit the game
>hamfisted waggle controls

The only redeeming factor was that it's still better than the games that followed.

What's considered the best 3d zelda, majora's mask? I also am looking into catching up with nintendo games through emulation

In software we use versions.

t. programmer/software engineer

I liked it, but my god I hate replaying it. Collecting all those god damn tears is so tedious it hurts.

Cheesy plot/substories, boring overworld, boring towns, howling ocarina songs from OoT for whatever reason (probably Anouma being a fucking furry), two good soundtracks
Solid game, 8.8 was very generous

I hope you're emulating the Gamecube version and not the Wii. Proper controls > waggle.

>What's considered the best 3d zelda
Sup Forums considers MM the best, GameFAQs considers OOT the best, patricians consider WW the best.
TP is fine but nobody's favourite. SS is almost universally disliked. BOTW is not even a Zelda game.

The internal terms in game development are not the same as the terms used for product releases.

Sup Forums considers MM the best, GameFAQs considers OOT the best, patricians consider WW the best.

Cool, does it matter what order I play em in?

Release order. Always release order.
