i forgot to play it cause my hype died

nice almost quads

It was shit. I still don't understand why easy allies had it GOTY

I have no opinion because I'm waiting to get a Pro so I can play it without 23 fps

Honestly a fucking terrible game, pretty much hovers near unplayable the whole time. Dunkey's video is pretty much a 100% accurate representation of what the game is like.
Team ICO is unbelievably overrated.

>Team ICO is unbelievably overrated.
No, Sony just FUCKED up TLG. SOTC and ICO are fantastic video games.

>Dunkey
btfo
Loved it. It had some junk controls(like getting off of Trico n stuff) but didnt have much trouble with actually ordering it. Sad to see that most had that problem tho because otherwise it was a great ~12hr experience

ICO is fantastic, SotC has moments of brilliance but is also very flawed, I'm convinced SotC only has the reputation it does because Sonyfags were desperate for any game they could prop up to try and dethrone OoT.

Ico hasn't stood the test of time as well as you think it has. It's about as good as Last Guardian.

These minimalism games are just not really that interesting at this point.

Half of the Sonygros were praising the clunky controls because pets irl are that dumb.

I liked it a lot but I probably wouldn't play it again. Mostly because of the length.

ICO is minimalistic but well made and playable, and is also an important historical example of games as art. Not the earliest by a longshot but it's certainly a milestone.

Last Guardian meanwhile is simply an awful experience. Maybe my hate of dogs makes me predisposed to hate dealing with an AI simulating a puppy with down syndrome who doesn't listen to what you say and makes it almost impossible to progress.

>they could prop up to try and dethrone OoT.
Said literally no one. Console war autists like you need help.

>I don't like it anymore because it's old
TLG is a much worse game it's not even fun.

I mean that is the point of the game and probably what the director envisioned. The game itself is clearly blatantly awful which only leaves the debate on whether it's a worthwhile work of art.

Liked it a lot and I actually got the platinum

>Shitting on based tlg
Amerifats everyone

Good game, I've been meaning to replay it one of these days. People who complained about the controls when it released are retarded.

Found ICO HD the most boring shit on the planet. Got an instant game over because warp teleporting instant death if AI partner is kidnapped. Dropped it halfway through, it's just so boring to me.

Loved SoTC PS2, found it aged not-so-well on PS3 but the highs are really high compared to when the game is low (complete and total padding between boss fights). After playing a lot of open world games this generation, I actually can appreciate Shadow of the Colossus doesn't waste your time and gets to the point. Still, I feel there should have been 3 more colossus to round up the package and make it feel like a truly meaty game with content. The extra stuff is time trial fluff. Other than that, I think the PS3 HD version is the best looking version of Shadow of the Colossus, it's a 9/10.

The Last Guardian I was hyped but eventually stopped caring once they went full Jew by cancelling it on PS3, despite the creator saying it would have worked fine post-PS4 announcement. It was a Sony call to sell more PS4 console hardware. (playstationlifestyle.net/2015/07/04/the-last-guardian-ps3-release-no-problem-ueda-interview/). But the real kicker was how the framerate performs on vanilla PS4, even after the last patch it's a 25FPS experience for the most part on regular PS4, whereas PS4 Pro can maintain 30FPS. That's a total direspect for your audience and honetly, something to be expected out of modern day Sony. Last Guardian technical problems on PS4 aside, it's a short game with an aggravating AI partner. That's an easy pass, even when it's $20 everywhere.

Shit. Its a chore to play and its boring as fuck
My sister liked it, probably for the story and the monster but thats the only good thing I can say about it

What gets me about TLG is that it looks worse than the PS3 version too. Like what the fuck.

Pretty good, I liked it better than Ico and SOTC.

I didn't enjoy it very much, but I did finish it. First, the frame rate is so bad at times that it actually hurt my eyes to look at it. However, the biggest problem is that it is hard to tell if I am trying to solve a puzzle the wrong way or if Trico is just ignoring me. Real animals learning tricks works because you know that they can eventually learn the trick. You don't have to worry that the trick hasn't been programed in or if you are doing the right inputs to activate trick learning. After several minutes of pointing at a ledge with no response, I will be more likely to assume that I need to do something else or that the game is broken. The hardest puzzle in the game should not be getting Trico to jump up against an obvious ledge.

This game, in terms of discussion on here, came and went so fast it was quite jarring.

Dunkey is not the target audience for this game and neither are you, he has no patience for anything other than action games - he even explicitly said so. This is a game for people who appreciates artsy games and have a snivel of patience.

They lowered self-shadowing on a lot of objects. The PS3 trailer of 2009 looks better than the final product on PS4.

Sony Bro here, it's because it's a first party exclusive. Yes, there are actually people dumb enough to promote a Sony game just because it's exclusive.

I'm waiting for a UHD remake for the PS5/PSP 2 to play it.

I've written a paper on the works of Osamu Sato, which required me to play through Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong Nou and its sequel, Chu-Teng, along with LSD Dream Emulator.

I've also played loads of artsy fartsy ass indie games like .flow and Yume Nikki.

I've got patience for art games when they're so much as playable. Having a retarded AI dog jump back and fucking forth leaving you unable to progress for something that isn't your fault is an awful experience and the game is shit.

>PSP2
Sony is retarded enough to try, but the Switch would be considered the established handheld. It wouldn't be a very smart move.

>Eastern Mind
Would you recommend it?

never heard of it

>It wouldn't be a very smart move.
I fully agree, I just think Sony might do it regardless.
>Sony is retarded enough to try
Exactly.

This. The controls weren't perfect but if you were already used to SotC's controls, TLG's were nearly identical and the boy handled about the same as Wander. TLG was a flawed game, sure, but so were SotC and ICO so I don't understand why people were expecting perfection. Trico wasn't nearly as difficult to command as people were making him out to be and the only times I had any trouble with it were the cart launch and the swimming section. Otherwise, if you knew what you needed him to do, it generally wasn't that difficult to get him to do it.

It's absolutely worth it, that said you will also have to find scans of the physical materials the game came with, like the guide for the characters to really appreciate it and get the full context of the world and symbolism.

Skip Chuteng though, boring rehash with much less to say and way less inspired visuals.

Shadow of the Colossus > The Last Guardian > Ico

>Dunkey is not the target audience
He, like us, are Team ICO fans. TLG is just a shitty game.

The games are all good in there own way. However as time goes on it seems people's opinions are changing.

Like how someone stated
>Ico has the worst final boss ever made
>SOTC is literally uncontrollable
This sentiment transfers to TLG. The controls are not for gen Z. They use face buttons and not L2/R2. Which offends them.
>the Colt 1911 and Mauser broomhandle are two of the worst handguns ever made
The new generation in general is more spiteful to things that the past generation cherished.

It felt like playing Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures only with way less control over the characters and way less fun.

>Ico has the worst final boss ever made
>SOTC is literally uncontrollable
are you high?

Broomhandle aged poorly in terms of usability but is still aesthetically the best looking gun ever made.

1911 is for the time it was made an unbelievably fucking perfect gun but it's really fucking heavy beyond what a modern pistol needs to be, we just have better stuff available.

Thanks, user!

That's from a past Team Ico game thread.
The third is an example. My youtube feed got a recommendation of what a modern gun nut thinks the worst guns are.

Loved it. Only game to ever make me cry and my GOTY of 2016, but I understand why people don't like it.

I played SoTC three years after release and OoT is my favourite game of all time and it's in my top 5.

my GOTY

was worth getting a PS4 Pro & 4k TV for, despite the occasional chugging framerate

SOTC > TLG > Ico

I think it was pretty fantastic. I do get that it doesn't click with a lot of people though.
Part of what helped was that I generally played it in 2 hours sessions, you reach a point in games where you're only playing to progress as opposed to playing just for the sake of playing the game. As soon as I reached that point the game would just get frustrating so I would stop and play later.

I played ICO for the first time on a PS2 emulator a year or two ago and I loved it.
There's not much to age there.

No, he's a shitty eceleb who built his entire "career" on being a contrarian. Sup Forums is just a jaded cynical shitheap full of people who can't fathom the idea of finding common ground overt something they enjoy and would rather connect over bitching about everything. It's also full of people who are incapable of forming their own opinions so you cling to these "reviewers" as gospel and parrot everything they say because god forbid you think for yourselves and form a differing opinion. TLG has its faults but Dunkey is a brain dead retard for having as much trouble as he did and I bet you watched his video before finishing the game, struggled once while learning the controls, and decided that Dunkey must have been right and you wrote the game off immediately. It wasn't the best game ever but it was exactly on par with every other Team ICO game in terms of polish.

>this mad
TLG is garbage user.

>but it was exactly on par with every other Team ICO game in terms of polish.
Now this is shitposting.

Why don't you show me those SOTC and Ico downgrade shots. Or moments in either of those games when the AI doesn't do what you want.

Game of the generation

trash

it would be a good game in ps2 era
but in this day and age its fucking nothing, it brings NOTHING to the table

Great game and the VR demo is pretty awesome. Wish they would port it, ico, or soc to VR. The scale would be worth it alone.

It's a great game for what it is. I don't get what people were expecting. It's not a game that warrants prolonged discussion and it never purported to be a mechanical masterpiece. Kind of like the last 2 games from this team.

The AI in those games can't even be compared to TLG in terms of technology or even intent. Colossus has an absolute garbage framerate even compared to TLG and you could even argue that half the game was cut content. The bitching and moaning about downgrades is fucking asinine and has more to do with publishers and marketing than it has to do with a game's development and quality.

It's still the best PS4 exclusive.

They can be compared. They are better.

>TLG has bugs
>was downgraded
>is a shit game
>somehow that means polish is as good as the other god tier games with no downgrades nor issues

Sony gave team ICO all the time in the world actually, it's not always the publishers' fault bro

why is the user in this thread so intent on blindly apologizing for TLG? Pointing out how they fucked up makes for progress

My Trico does exactly what I want him to do, you just need some patience and actually use the right controls.

R1 + X - Sit/Scold
R1 + O - Stand/Praise
R1 + Triangle - Jump/Stomp
R1 + Square - Swipe/Attack

>Team ICO fans
Aka I like SotC because you kill big monsters in it.

Wow, you'd really think after 10 years they'd come up with a better story.

Why dont you actually watch the video before you shitpost and listen to what Ueda says

Literally a better version of Ico. People expecting another SotC were always going to hate this game and have completely poisoned all discussion about it.

can't you just give me the brass facts on why the story hasn't improved? or was it way more terrible ten years before maybe?

aka you like Ico and SOTC and can realize TLG sucked.

No they didn't. The game was on hiatus for like 70% of the time between announce and release.

>SOTC has bugs
>was downgraded
>is a shit game
>somehow means polish is as good as other god tier games with no downgrades or issues
The AI in those games hardly do anything but come to you when you press a button. It's nearly a moot comparison. No one can deny that the AI in TLG has issues and I can't invalidate the experience of people who had trouble with the game but the reaction to this stuff is ridiculously overblown

TLG is better than SotC my man.

It would have made a better movie or tv series.

The game tries to have TECHNOLOGY but ends up being more hinderence than help. The boy's slippery walking and grip is neato at first, aggravating later in the game when they expect the player to go through the length platforming sections. The Trico's AI can be a real dunce at times, especially when trying to reach those ledges where you need to use him as a bridge.
>point at ledge hold command
>Trico makes noise and ignores
>try again
>Trico baroos again
>get off Trico
>he finally mounts the ledge
>get on him to climb up
>he gets down from the ledge
Christ.
In later portions of the game you can tell that the Trico is pretty much an on-rails cart ride.

Combat is nothing to get excited over and stealth sections can be annoying at times.
Considering it took seven years of development or whatever, I really didn't see what the fuss was over.

>SOTC has bugs
>was downgraded
>is a shit game
>somehow means polish is as good as other god tier games with no downgrades or issues

>aka you like Ico and SOTC and can realize TLG sucked.

It's strange to like ICO but dislike TLG given the fundamental similarity

Fan consensus is SOTC>TLG>ICO

absolute garbage.

I was so hopeful for it but that and FFXV were my biggest regrets to be honest guys

Gravity Rush was even a better investment

They don't function similarly though. You drag Yorda, Trico is a totally different beast.

I don't really see how SotC could work in VR.

what? no it isn't

>Fan consensus is SOTC>TLG>ICO
No.

TLG>ICO>The Order 1886>>>>>>SotC
