What are it's flaws?

No remastered

Camera controls are stiff.

They don't explain monica's shit vs. the robotv well enough and as a result most people dont enjoy her combat as much.

It's not the first Dark Cloud.

Too many useless minigames. Monica feels useless compared to Max. Like the robot is so much better than this useless badges and aren't a grind to level up.

Your grammar.

>Monica's transformation is useless
>The camera system requires you take pictures of literally everything if you want all inventions
>some of the character gathering quest are stupid, like the Sheriff
>The bonus party member could have been way cooler then just a slight buff/item creation
>Health upgrading system requires item hunting for no reason
>First dungeon is a pretty slow introduction
>There will never be a dark cloud 3
that's about it

too much unnecessary shit
ugly as fuck art design
georama is ridiculously complicated compared to the first
the most annoying protagonist in the history of rpgs
fucking gold mini games
having to lap round the town twice
OP too early with the giant robot
shit music

it's not even Dark Cloud 2, it's fucking Dark Chronicle and it doesn't deserve to share the same name as the original
REEEEEEEEEEEE etc

>The most annoying protagonist in the history of rpgs

Okay friend.

Mostly just features that aren't properly utilized
> monster transformation is too weak to be ever viable
> lure rod useless
> medals useless once you buy a set for each
> also an entire chapter has missable medals
> town building is fun but you can barely put anything down before it hits its limit
> walking around giant future areas looking for tiny chests (also missable)
> weapons found in chests are useless because your main one is always better
> you might buy the voice pack for your ridepod if you don't know how much of a mistake that would be
Aside from that it's a solid 9.5/10. The absolute best jrpg I have ever played

You had to play way too much spheda to unlock Monica's leopard print bikini.

that only the strong ones can stand the test of time

>Missable boss photographs
>Later dungeons are a tediously long slog.
>Easy to ignore Monica, making it annoying when you actually need to use her.

Other than that, I don't really have any other bad things to say about it.

I don't mind all the unnecessary stuff. It makes the world livelier.

>Too many useless minigames
You shut your fucking whore mouth. Fishing and spheda are god tier.

>>Later dungeons are a tediously long slog.
>Easy to ignore Monica, making it annoying when you actually need to use her.
Use the seal breaker and then ride the Ridepod. Works everytime.

>there will never be a dark cloud 3

It has a lot of missables

>shit music

Are you fucking retarded ?

It's really only that monster transformation is too weak and takes too long to get rewards from, even though it's not strictly combat based anyway. The boss photos and a very small handful of items being missable don't amount to much and both can be circumvented by just talking to a dude and exploration, and having them and stuff to take pictures of is excellent for immersion and really enjoying the beautiful town and future areas, especially with them changing and growing based on how far you come in rebuilding.
>there are people that actually don't use both characters

The music is gratingly annoying compared to the first and it feels too grindey to get georama materials. Other than that it's bretty gud.

Typical Level 5 problems: fluff content and pointless filler around every corner.

It crashes on my PS2 at times
>i'll never make a laser bomb because of this

>It's really only that monster transformation is too weak and takes too long to get rewards from, even though it's not strictly combat based anyway
Explain

It's repetitive

>clear dungeon
>play golf
>make town

The fucking fishing music was great. Never felt so relaxed in my life.

Is Dark Cloud 2 better than Dark Cloud 1?

>Monster transforms suck

>Weapon synthesis breaks the game once it gets easy to level up weapons and you figure out that you can weapon switch to distribute exp

>Geodomes hit 100% too early, you never get any chance to personalize them with cool shit

>The story is pretty childish and not really interesting

>tfw it started crashing randomly for me too whenever I left the menu sometimes after inventing things or watching the tutorial videos for fun
>eventually notice a huge crack in the disk that had somehow happened and been there for who knows how long, yet the game still played
I never actually got around to finishing the Mines, but I'm certain if I ever do then at that moment the disk will crumble to pieces as it's duty will have been fulfilled.
When you get it you start with the lowest forms of monsters that do low damage, die in about two hits (which leaves Monica dead unlike Max and the Ridepod) and both your characters even at that point severely outclass them. To level them up you have to be really dedicated in grinding them (either by going back to the start or swapping in every time) since it takes a lot of exp for each level to eventually get to evolve them through each monster stage, and when you get one maxed out you get bonus items. But you would have to do that for each monster badge, and there are 9 in total that all start as weak as each other.
Pretty much the best thing about it is that you can talk to monsters that are the same species as you.
>three completely unique types of gameplay that all have multiple different aspects and shit to do with them that help you with the others and that you can dip into when you want
>there's even more besides that
It's not really very repetitive at all.

>Well max has a spiffy robot that has plenty of customization going on and can even serve as extra health so if the robot dies you can still play as Max normally. what do we do for Monica?

>Let's give her a monster transformation with abilities initially so weak the optimal strategy for leveling them up is to kill enemies as normal monica and then transform to collect the exp which begs the question of why you should bother.
>Also if you die as a monster Monica is dead too.
>And let's make getting monster badges a tedious process and leveling them up even more tedious.

I feel pity for anyone who decide to collect all those badges and tried to max them all out.

It reminds of my best friend because it was the last game we played together. I can't play it without feeling depressed as fuck.

Getting the monster badges themselves was actually cool though. It was neat going undercover talking with them to try and find out what monsters like, and even some common sense stuff worked like giving the rats cheese. Leveling them up took insane amounts of exp compared to weapons for no real reason though. At least Monica was so strong herself anyway.

I didn't like that Max had 2 lives but Monica just 1. Still yet to completely finish my save I started in 2011, a bunch of medal challenges left.
Often if see a thread of a game then you want to go look if new art exists. Original too big to post.

The fuckers at Level 5 would rather make a fucking Chibi FFxStudio Ghibili game about little kids fucking about instead of making a 3rd dark cloud. It’s not right

she actually went back for Max. What a woman.
