Game that is funded by a kickstarter is a better rpg than 90% of JRPGs especially overblown big budget ones like FF

How can Japan ever compete?

Have a bump, mate, even if this game is shit and Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire will be a million times better. Like older man to his retarded little brother, I'll still stick with you.

I never understood why Larian suddenly needed kickstarters for everything
Weren't they doing fine before?

They had a publisher before

Surely Focus Home would've given them enough dosh to get a game going? Oh well it doesn't matter since it all worked out anyway

no, they were completely fucked. larian's is very fortunate they still exist

This doesn't have anything to do with JRPGs.

i'm surprised they went as long as they did with how many shit games they churned out.

>everyone loves 2

i'd be surprised if most people even finished the first one

Working with a publisher isn't the same thing as working directly with the people you're selling your game to.

Super hyped for Deadfire, I finished the first game just a few days ago.
DivOS2 is great too but fuck I wish it didn't go full retard on itemization.

>full retard on itemization
Care to expand on that? Haven't played it

Should I bother getting the first one before the second?

Funny how you're always there when a Divinity thread is made. It's almost like you're the one who makes the threads.

Shame on you, i enjoy both and there is nothing you can do

JRPGs barely even let you roleplay.

No, and OS1/OS2 weren't solely funded through kickstarter, it was for extra content they wouldn't be able to fund normally.

Divinity: Original Sin was Larian's dream project since the 90s.

Creating it involved divorcing their publisher, taking bank loans, courting investors, raising $1m on kickstarter, and basically buttfucking Dragon Commander for a few extra shillings.

This was after they were nearly bankrupted after the failure of Dvinity II.

Among the goals were to release it when it was ready and not a moment before, and compromise on nothing, not even accepting cheaper third-party software if it didn't do exactly what they wanted.

They spent 4.5m euroes on a 1.5m budget.

The third one may be casual trash, mark my words.

you can steal panties in the first one

Stats increase like crazy between each level, for you, your enemies, and the equipment required to actually survive and damage said enemies, essentially requiring you to buy a completely new set of gear every one or two levels.

The second does everything better, and the stories aren't linked directly, despite happening in the same universe.

makes me think....

> essentially requiring you to buy a completely new set of gear every one or two levels.
Bullshit. On my current 4-player tactician playthrough the game is fucking easy without abusing summoning or shields, and we all have 2-3 items that are 10 levels below just for rare extra stats or skills. Actully biggest obstacle is one player going full retard all the time in and out of combat.

Another user here but the numbers of all items goes completely apeshit between levels and it goes higher on each level
While it's not bad per se, the change between armor is pretty big that picking grey armor at same level is not really a bad idea per se.
If you know what you are doing, it wont be a problem

>DivOS thread
>Eder the resident shitposter shows up immediately
Every fucking time.

It's like Rimworld threads and dorf fort autists.

It doesn't change the fact that not doing so puts you at a disadvantage due to how the stat scaling is done.

this. both are enjoyable

Stat scaling doesn't get too bad until near the end of the game. A level 15 person using level 5 gear isn't nearly as bad as a level 20 person using level 18 gear.

Stat scaling is exponential, and towards max level a single level can be a massive difference in stats.

Yeno what? I want this to be better. Then I want DOS3 to come back better than this. I want a constant fight of improvement between these two franchises. I agree with you senpai
