Why is this the best saint row game?

because the side quests were the best
I NEED A
>tons of clothing options thanks to layering
>more effort put into safehouses, including customization
>Stilwater has a ton of variety, unlike Steelport
>good writing, something the series hasn't has since
It was the best written and had the best characters

Map with lots of cool "secret" locations to explore
*had
I started the series with 3 and didn't realise why everyone was sucking off Johnny Gat. Also, something that I never see acknowledged anywhere - why do the later SR games look worse than 2?
>why do the later SR games look worse than 2?
Because the first game even looked better than 2, so much so somebody tried to make a texture pack to make the game look 2 years older.
forgot pic
Because Stillwater is a fun city
Because the story was just serious enough while allowing for action-movie shit
Because the driving was the good kind of arcade-y
Because abilities unlocked via side-missions > buying abilities
Because the customization was head-and-shoulders above the future installments
Because the Boss was a fucking psycho instead of a frat-guy who occasionally shot people
Because the enemies had some meat to them
Because the environment was interactive (beating people with fire-hydrants)
Because it had cool secrets and areas
Because it had the best soundtrack
Because the garage system > GTA's garage system
Because side-activities were kept on the side
Because there wasn't Genki/mascot shit
Because there was Freckle Bitches
Because there was more than one clothing franchise in the world
Because there wasn't much forced 'silly' shit like gimp-mobiles. Shitting up property is silly, but it's not HERPDERP silly
Because Steelport was a fucking mess that should have been abandonned
the third would be the best if you could smoke and drink
I haven't played the first one yet, thanks to Microsoft dragging their heels on backwards compatibility.
Steelport is the most boring city I've ever explored.
it's actually really fucking mediocre, idk why people are so obsessed with it
It just had the perfect balance of everything.
Story / gameplay / customisation.
It was funny, without being WACKY and forced.
I wish the PC version ran decent
Because it's SR1 perfected.
Stillwater had so many landmarks and each area looked different. Steelport is just one big mess and just isn't fun to traverse.
I actually heard from a friend (unconfirmed myself) that it manages to run a lot better on Windows 10 and the "benny hill" bug doesn't exist.
it's certainly better than 4
It's still pretty stuttery. I have it capped at 30fps and it isn't awful, but it's not a great expereience
How many bosses did the Boss even kill?
Business suit mcgee and that's it?
Matt survives, a twin survives, the other twin's killed by the badguy, and lucho libre survives because you canonically save nuShaundi and... fuck, I dunno, Kinzie?
It's still a case-by-case basis. I still have the speedup bug and have to manually tweak powertools to get it running at proper speeds, but I've had some luck with the GoG version running fine, even more so when I raised the FPS cap.
>everyone from the first game that sees you
>"Did you get a haircut?"
>do that hidden mission
>"You look different, did yo-
>"No I didn't get a FUCKIN hair cut"
That really caught me off guard the first time
This. It took the established cast from the first game, side characters and mains and reused them effectively. SR3 essentially abandons everyone.
And despite SR4 beiong good, I will never not be mad about Dex.
What a shame. Was gonna try it out myself later since my friend told me that. Knowing my luck I'll end up with the speedup bug since all two systems I've played it on had it.
You can still use powertools to fix the speedup bug.
It does. But Powertools fixes the fuck out of it surprisingly.
I knew that, it's just slightly tedious to set it up is all.
real guns and gangs that were actually realistic and cool, a good GTA 2 style game with seperate gangs, side missions, hard core style, more interiors and a world that was actually distinct
I did like specialists in 3. Put something like that in 2 and it would be absolutely perfect.
Man I miss the gang respect system in GTA2.
It was grounded to a degree, so the silly shit stood out as highlights instead of being the norm.
Thinking about it, the main gang members were all fairly stable. it was the side characters that were crazy.
Was it ever specified just how long had passed between SR1 and 2?
Honestly I have no clue how to use it. Something to do with CPU speed, correct?
2 years
You use it in tandem with a custom-made save file. Basically the save file has a race event that takes a specific amount of time to get from the start to the first checkpoint. You measure the amount of time it takes against a stopwatch, adjust powertools values, retry, etc.
It also has an "auto" function but I've never seen it work.
Yeah. It's not too difficult to use. It's been a while since I used it but if I remember right you need the creator's save file which loads up at an airport, start the race which is right next to the save point and start timing the race yourself, as in with your own personal stopwatch. The vehicle you'll have will be extremely slow (which was done on purpose) and at the end of the race take your time and divide how long it should take with your result. Afterwards you enter into a config file what percentage you got (which is what percentage you're gonna be telling SR2 to use), test it again. When I say it's tedious I mean it just takes a few minutes of tweaking yourself to set up.
Holy fuck, why couldn't Projekt Red just make them an average PC Port?
Because Red didn't make it, a different part of the company was responsible for the port
>Great map with lots of variety and interesting locations
>More world interaction than in any other game in the series
>Best side quests and activities
>Good and creative story missions
>Good plot, and was already crazy enough to make it stand out but without going full retard like in the other games
>Nice sandbox options and generally top tier fun
SR2 is great, this is really one of those games I wish I could play for the first time again possibly as a 12 year old as well
idk lol, between this and Deadly Premonition it's hard for me to choose which port is worse. DP has more reproducible crashes but doesn't need a larger mod+involved tweaking to have running correctly. SR2 randomly crashed for me more than any Bethesda engine game I've played on PC.
The end result should match your CPU's speed closer to what a 360 is, that's the long and short of why the speedup bug occurs.
Lmfao I bet you liked Witcher 3. Keep sucking that Polish Smegma Cock
why change the stoner?
I have no idea. Shaundi was so much better in 2 than in 3. Hotter too.
The controls, animations, and the character customization in 3 and 4 are the best. Too bad the stories for these were just a circus. I still say the gameplay is better in these, I just didn't like the plot change from 2 to 3.
Honestly. I'd sniff her Reggie Bush.
shouldnt have been aloud, IP protection on games is important GTA came first
...
New Shaundi is why I didn't even hesitate to head for revenge in the final mission of 3. The airship finale just seals the deal.
One thing 3 did right was the Titty slider.
Shame it made "fat" characters barely even chubby. SR2 could give a nice pudge. SR1 you could be fucking enormous.
Is the saints row 1 multiplayer active on pic or consoles? Protect the pimp was some of the most fun I ever had in an online game and abusing the broken pipebombs was great too
I meant to say PC
>inb4 dumb phone poster
The boss in 3 and onward may as well be a different character. Boss acts completely different in 2.
i tried everything to fix the horrible performance but i'd still rather play SR2 with choppy framerate than 4 with 60+fps
Playing through the entire series as DOUK was a highlight. Staring off as nobody Douk and becoming President Douk saving the universe from Alien Bastards.
GANGSTA BITCH
Saints Row 2 was pure kino.
>PC
SR1 is an xbox exclusive
Nu Shaundi is awful. I have no idea what were they thinking with this change, she's basically a completely different character and a hopelessly boring and bland one at that
I wouldn't be surprised if she was actually a new character they retroactively made into her because they realized they got rid of too many characters from sr1/2
I actually liked the way they did the Boss' talking in 1. He never -fucking never- spoke until the end of the game. 2 is still better but I thought it was cute.
There is a story beind her change. She was supposed to have a whole survivors guilt arc and such but THQ said it was too dark and forced a change. Also Steelport was going to be nuked.
He had one line at the end of each mission strand too.
Oh did he? I only remember the 'Lets get some Freckle Bitches' or something along those lines at the end.
Cant remember the exact lines but somethign about Herpes for Tanya. A line about Shoes for the Carnales, and... nope, cant remember the one for the Rollers.
