I need a upgrade was wondering if you guys can help me out. I want a new gpu my 970 runs pretty crappy and it is my first gpu ever. Been about 4 years since i have had it but now its been giving me fps drops. What else will I have to upgrade if i get a new gpu ? Im not crazy smart with specs and what not so I need some guidance from you guys.

Just adjust the games for now. Unless you want to spend 500 dollars on a decent upgrade. 650 if you want to wait a few months and get the best.

eh just buy 1060 6gb and you're good to go for 1080p 60fps

...

>Been about 4 years since i have had it but now its been giving me fps drops.
It was released only just over 3 years ago.
It's you. I have a 970 and every single game I play runs perfectly fine on it @ 1080p/60hz

Not him, been here years. This is a question for Sup Forums. Sup Forums will shit it up and tell him to come here.

It's only concerning video game performance. So yes, it belongs here. Stop sending shit over there just because you are tech illiterate.

Get a 8700k and a GTX 1080 you fucking pleblord

That's literally the computer building/upgrade general you fucking idiot. If you post a thread saying hur idunno bout computaz but I wan build 1, they'll tell you to come here. People in the general will help you (and they know more than Sup Forums)

>bought RX480 last year
>already chugging on newer releases
I fucked up

>It's you
Well can you somewhat give me an idea of what I should do to improve performance ?

wew lad sell it to minercucks and buy 1070

You don´t need an upgrade

I would rather go full AMDfag

>computer building/upgrade general
No, no its fucking not. It's a technology board. Not a video game performance board. And "wut should I buy" threads are instant deleted on Sup Forums. So fuck off new fag and lurk more.

what about my cpu ?

SSD

Read the OP of that Sup Forums post that talk about video game performance then you fucking newfag mong

>need an update
The CPU for sure, b-but I also have a GTX970 I really really don't want to upgrade my gpu

Only having 3.5GB of video memory is concerning, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal until after you upgrade your monitor.
You should probably think about upgrading your OS to something better.

>Expect your questions to not get answered: the board

>I would rather suck cocks

Do you know any programs where i can check to see if my cpu bottlenecks ? I feel like it is I think.

...

well you're fucked because 580's price goes full retard and vega is a meme. all you can do is Wait™

...

It's a link to a general. A computer building general... Go read the thread, people are more than happy to answer your questions.

Sup Forums is full of old fags and retards who dont help for shit

it can hold for 2 more years so keep using it, and don't forget to add SSD

It's not that bad tbqh.

Exactly, stop sending video game threads our way.

Where is there any mention of gaming? Did you even check the link I posted? Here, I'll idiot proof it for you

>it can hold for 2 more years so keep using it, and don't forget to add SSD
Thanks man. I was trying to run rising storm 2 vietnam but nothing in the settings was working and it was just overall running bad and it wasnt looking too good. Battlefield 1 runs pretty great with occasional server lag.

What type of games are giving you slowdowns?
It's pretty game-dependent but there's a few rules of thumb:
Ease it on the AA to off if you can handle it, or SMAA/FXAA if you can't.
Turn shadows and water down
Turn VSync off if you're not going above 60fps
Maybe upgrade your drivers but that can sometimes do more harm than good

Programs? No. You're better off looking for a CPU you like. I personally have an i5 7600 and my motherboard is the Z270-K. As a good rule of thumb you'll want a MB with LGA1151 sockets, but you should always check first.

Jesus fucking Christ where the fuck did you find sush slow fucking ram??? And is that a 5000rpm hard drive? You're bottle necking your god dann graphics card you negroid moron!
>pic related ( underage retard faggot op..)

Then wtf are you doing here on Sup Forums grandpa ? Fuck off back to Sup Forums bitch.

>recommending Ti cards
If OP had unlimited budget I don't think he'd even come here in the first place

I'm on Sup Forums because I'm looking for video game threads.

Just because I mingle between /o/v/g/ doesn't mean I want them mixed.

not too many right now usually fps's. Im trying to play rising storm 2 Vietnam but I just cant deal with the problems it has given me like the fov doesnt wanna work and it just looks kinda bad with alot of fps drops.

>computer parts are not technology

Unless your 970 has something wrong with it it should be fine. Nothing in your build should be holding you back from 1080p/60fps. Are you trying to play at a higher refresh rate or resolution OP?

This user may be right. An SSD or at least 7200rpm hdd and faster ram would improve performance. You may be getting a bottleneck from those 2 parts.

>bottleneck from your HD/SSD

this. wtf

>Are you trying to play at a higher refresh rate or resolution OP?
Now I just want steady fps but some games are different like i stated before rising storm 2 runs like shit, battlefield 1 runs pretty good for the most part.

Storage would not change performance. What are you talking about?

More likely the slow AF ram. And not bottlenecking from the drive, but definitely slow load times.

What kinda games do your fps get shot from? Does your framerate drop in games where, before, they didnt?

Your cpu is good, I'm running a i5 4690k and its going strong as shit with the new water cooler i just got for it.

user says youve got a 5k rpm HDD? 5k is pretty damn slow these days, rendering is heavily effected by HDD speeds, 7200 is standard

If its individual game dependent the first step is to adjust graphical settings and see if that solved it. Your build looks alright.

>user says youve got a 5k rpm HDD?
this what i have right now

wrong picture hold up

You don't need to upgrade your PC for 1080p 60hz gaming

When did this turn into Sup Forums?

A 1060 is hardly faster than a 970, you'd want an RX 580 8GB instead anyways if prices are back to MSRP

...

Nigger, you don't need a 750 watt psu. 600 watts is more than enough for a single graphics card system.

REEEEE NO U NEWFAG Sup Forums IS NOT FOR GAMING HARDWARE It's a technology board. Not a video game performance board. And "wut should I buy" threads are instant deleted on Sup Forums. So fuck off new fag and lurk more.

I need more RAM and I need to fix my shit.

...

You are such a retard.

Then don't make threads that there are generals for, fucking retard.

How fucking dumb are you? Sup Forums has a pc building general, which is what that guy linked, that is made specifically for these kinds of questions. The OP alone could answer basically anything you would need to ask.

btw lads I was mocking that other idiot that was calling me a newfag before when I linked pcbg. I even copy/pasted his text. I know this is a Sup Forums question

Quad channel ram.
And maybe a thermal paste job

I would update a damn thing while prices are where they're at now.

OP here : Thanks for the advice. Im gonna upgrade the hdd and get a SSD what kind of ram would you recommend ?

would not* even

Upgrade your mobo before the ram. I wouldn't touch RAM with a ten-foot pole at this point in time.

>Upgrade your mobo before the ram. I wouldn't touch RAM with a ten-foot pole at this point in time.
im to the point where im just gonna upgrade everything and resell my old shit dirt cheap.

ram is incredibly overpriced right now

>ram is incredibly overpriced right now
Why so much ?

...

oh miner fags. makes sense.

"""shortage""" because all the smartphones ans such

You have to remember that there's only like 3 manufacturers. Samsung is suppose to be expanding so in a bout a year or so it might lower.

Mining has nothing to do with ram prices. It's smartphones mostly.

I probably wont upgrade for another year, that being said, think im just gonna get a new SSD.

You don't need to upgrade anything your PC is perfectly fine

Probably just want an 850 EVO SSD

>You don't need to upgrade anything your PC is perfectly fine
people keep telling me this.
so im gonna get a ssd, my hdd was cheap honestly.

...

Go on, tell me how ram has anything to do with mining.

GPU prices are affected by mining, not ram.

Everything except PSU prices are being affected by mining. GPU and RAM are the ones hardest hit. RAM mainly due to demand.

Miners are buying up all the older server PSUs that are like 4000W on the cheap

Except you're wrong. Ram prices is mostly because smartphones using ddr4.

Ram prices are not affected by mining. The shortage is due mostly to smartphones.

The 970 isn't a bad card. I recently went from a 770 to a 1070 and got a very nice jump. But if your card was burning out like mine then you may have no choice. Good luck with that though thanks to all the crypto miners. I managed to get my card before all that nonsense really picked up.

Wish this shit would die out so I can fucking buy a 1070 ti at a reasonable price.

Crypto-currency should be made illegal.

When the 1070 Ti first launched it was at msrp for a while

double up ma nigga, 16 fixxed my screen tearing and crashes. You can also fix your nvidia setting to make your pc entirely gpu dependent since automatic is default and that switches between your cpu and gpu.
