Everyone who likes some good combat would like the game. The only people complaining are the ones who wanted to play DMC for the story and adventure.

Why would you hate it? Now pic related I can understand but I like the combat enough to actually have fun with it. Honestly better party based gameplay than DD.

I know it's no Heroes 3, but I loved the campaigns and the general atmosphere of the game.

I don't like his grab attack. There's no finesse to it and really it's easy to defeated just about any enemy by just spamming his grab attack.

Also, I wish they just stuck to one character, either Nero or Dante. Don't half ass it.

Both characters feel enough fleshed out. Nero was there to attract more PRESS A BUTTON TO DO A THING audience.

FUCK YOU, they neutered Dante, made the combat balanced around Nero and the OP SE characters, and they have awful enemies like the Blitzes and weird parasite things and parasite versions of the scarecrows and shit.

Yes but every DMC had shit enemies. New one had color coded enemies. DMC3 had things that go invis and through walls, flying shieldguys who do nothing, checkpieces who do nothing (all of these are immune to juggles). In All the games only basic enemies are fun fightning and we all know it.

It was a fun game. I would've preferred to play as Dante the whole game, but Nero handled really well and was fun to play as, even if he was less than compelling as a character.

Despite whatever Ninja Theory said, I consider this game canon. It's an alright game by the way, quite fun for a DMC neophite. Yeha, some combos get you SSS rank in 3 hits, but I headcanon it to young dante being less demanding of himself (I think the style system is from characters perspective).

Think about it tho, this can totally be a fitting prequel story. The whole Nephilim and prophercy bullshit can be attributed to Vergil lying to Dante to manipulate him into helping. Just literally, treat everything Vergil says in-game as a lie. Mundus doesn't literally die, just loses his material form until later games happen and bears a grudge against Dante. Vergil became the cold power hungry wanker in later parts because he felt like obtaining more power was the only way to never get hurt again.

It always irked me how in DMC 3 and 4 people are totally unsurprised that demons exist. DmC fills that gap sorta by saying thebig reveal already happened and that's why Dante has a business going.

TL;DR DmC is canon, prove me wrong if you can.

And you can freely change between all the stances, I feel that more than makes up for any other drawbacks.

Real Impacts are only if you care about efficiency, you can still kill them just fine in many other ways. I genuinely prefer Blitzes to most DMC3 enemies.

Dismissing a huge aspect of Dante's character by saying "lol they were just lying" is incredibly dumb. Dante and Donte are completely different characters, and DmC and DMC take place in completely different universes, and that's regardless of how much you love or hate DmC.

Donte saves the world, kicks the shit out of his brother, realises that he can make some cash off killing demons and not live in a trailer anymore, opens up shop. Also, he is less of a dipshit because he is older and had to think about his place in the world after the DmC ending. DMC3 happens, etc.

Also, being a Nephilim is not part of his character, Dante's all about "should I care about my humanity?". That theme is irrelevant whether he is a half-demon or a hybrid.

I mean, the backstory hasn't changed in the important moments - dad's a rebellous demon, mom gets killed.

This game is still damn satisfying to play today.

It really isn't a bad game at all. It's not as good as it could have been, and it doesn't live up to the pedigree of its namesake, but it's fun and well-constructed and I laughed at most of the corny one-liners.

Dante is most worse protagonist ever.

That's mostly a good thing, though. The useful moves are available by command or in a few specific and very short dials; the other combo variety is just so the animations are dynamic and fluid when you're mashing on an opening you've made.

If every combo string had unique utility it would be an exhausting an unfun exercise in memorization and dialing to play. Instead, it's about giving you a roughly DMC-sized toolset, and then adding a shitload of other combos so when you've launched the enemy in the air and you're mindlessly dealing damage (while mentally preparing to afterburner kick him up and switch to your other weapon) the animations aren't boring.

It also has the added effect of making button mashing look dynamic and unique, even from the first fight, which can help retain and train people new to action games.

That is weird, especially when it has literal who lucia.

DMC4 combat is deep an nuanced as fuck for Dante. The rest of the game sucked dick, but the combat mechanics for Date were great. Everyone else that says DMC3 Dante combat was better, either sucked ass at the game or has never seen high level play.

Actually that's (part of) the worst thing about Bayonetta, which is that it completely destroys the concept of space.

All your melee attacks (with the primary guns) do damage at any range, and with ANY weapon all your combo finishers will spawn a weave at the enemy's location. In gigantic boss mode, that's turned up to 11 so you just always hit with every attack.

That's boring. It means very little of Bayo's toolset is about the relative location of herself and enemies because attacks are just going to connect, 100% of the time, no reason to think about it. Just keep DOing through PKPs and you're an unavoidable waterfall of outgoing damage and knockback.

4 has shit levels and enemies even if you do like the broken little style switcher quirk

It's nuanced in the sense of how hard you can combo punching bags with modded stats for youtube videos, you aren't forced to use any of that sweet "depth" in any way on the shit enemies, so it's kind of a moot point and more of a fun distraction.

Combat is not nuanced like dmc3 or even ninja garden. It's very predictable to me. Dmd just isn't fun. Or hard, and way to glitchy. I just dont like lthe dmc franchise that much.
