FFVII remake is still being made. Also FFXVI hasn't been announced because they're still making content for XV.

Different dev teams, though. Most of the XV division is busy making some new IP already.

I'm not so sure about Nomura directing the ff7 remake. He's mostly directed the kingdom hearts games and those has been pretty hit or miss in many areas. At least he's basing it off of something else but still.

I kinda feel bad for Nomura. The more he tries to work on KH the more he gets put on other projects.

FF1-9 were perfect. FF10, okay that's still fine too. Having a death cult rule Spira but pose as a religion and having a personified punishment which etc which hates technology and only a summoner can stop him etc was kind of cool. I fully accept FF10 as a real FF.

But what happened after? MMORPG shit, Offline MMORPG-shit. Cancerous sequels to FF7, another MMORPG-shit. Linear FF13 shit. WHAT THE FUCK?

I STILL wait for FF11. I wait almost 16 fucking years.

Compared to modern shit they were. I played 1-7 last year and i was blown away by 1,2 and 6 especially. 8 and 9 are so good they would have been good as any other media as well.

It's not even that fun. All you do is dodge the big scary moves and hope your healer isn't asleep for the unavoidable attacks. The rest of the time it's an endless gear treadmill where your current gear will be moot come next raid/expansion/whatever.

This is fucking Square we're talking about here. It took them over a decade to make XV and they still haven't even finished KH3, let alone all the other projects they've got going on.

Nigger, he's one of the most senior people there. He doesn't get "put" on anything; he just can't manage projects if his life depended on it.

In a nutshell yeah (good news is the devs are always finding new ways to get everyone killed, bad news is the player base is kinda shit whenever fights aren't routine)
Other than the combat and occupations there's the story and lore, but it's an MMO so most of that got ignored. It's a shame too, Alphinaud and Estinien were genuinely the best protagonists we've gotten in a decade.

FF1's dungeons were sprawling mazes. Fun, but repetitive.
FF2 has proper dungeons, perfect length between difficulty and maze-ness

The level up system is really good and i never felt the need to abuse it. I have Gus as a fortress white mage with 2 shields(INT-SPI management is hard), Maria as a sword-dagger dual wielder with status spells, Firion as a shield-spear user with healing and ??? as a dedicated killing machine with Berserk spam from Maria on him during boss battles. FF5 customization is the only competitor in the series for customization.

The plot is also pretty damn good. Beats FF4 hands down. The dialogue system reminds of a very simplified Morrowind dialog system, not very useful but definitely better than the rest of the series (aside from 9's skits, but they weren't a real "system", just a narrative form.)

Finally, i love the cutscenes in 2, they look even better than stuff from FF6 in the Origins version i'm playing.

It's only been a year since FFXV and people are already complaining about it taking too long for a sequel?
