Ruins your franchise in the fourth installment

>ruins your franchise in the fourth installment

but resuscitates it in the fifth

>DMC4
>MH4U
>RE4
>USFIV
What the fuck are you talking about? Almost all of Capcom’s franchise’s have peaked on their fourth.

re4 ruined the franchise. the peak was remake or RE2

What game? Certainly not re4. Certainly not sf4 sales wise.

Mvci is a restart.

Megaman 4 and X4 we're great though

3 is the curse. Dino crisis 3. Nobody caring about re 3 much, sf3.

Or maybe 5.

LEGS GO LAN

Interesting those game s fundamentally changed their franchises. Except dmc4 but its basically half a game.

re4 made re actually worth getting into

Interesting the only one of these games I listed that changes the basic game is RE4 and the rest of them are mechanically the tightest in their respective series, especially MH4U.

>peaked on their fourth
>DMC4
u wat m9? I mean, yea DMC4 has by far the best combat in the franchise but the rest of the game fucking sucks though. Game suffered of being an incomplete mess just because capcom needed to meet their Q1 projection. I don't even replay the campaign aside from mission 8 just to fight Credo. Like fucking hell dude I even find myself replaying DMC1's campaign more than 4's, and that's an old-ass game.

>fixes everything in the fifth installment

>SF4
>The best
Mabey if you're a casual.

My point is that the mechanics are undeniably at their peak.

>Bombs in sales

Lol k

>Lost Planet 3
>Dead Rising 3

Wrong.

I still wonder how the fuck LP3 came to be when LP2 apparently sell all that well and critically wasn't really well recieved.

when you are old enough, you should ask your dad to let you play RE2 on his PS1

*didn't sell that well

But megaman 5 is shit and Megaman 4 is awesome. X4 is most people's favorite from the X series too. Haven't played Zero 4 yet but heard it's decent.

The only game on this list that was the actual peak was RE4, and it was still a large departure from previous games in the series.

>DMC4 has the best combat in the series, it's just unfinished

No. Wrong. You were wrong in 2008, you are wrong almost 10 years later.

Even if DMC4 was finished, nero would still be a baby character full of press button for awesome god of war-tier mechanics. Dante would still be nerfed like crazy in literally every aspect compared to DMC3 to "balance" style switch. It would still have completely casualized and ruined the styler meter and obtaining orbs. The enemies would still be a bunch of lazy DMC1 rehashes without the depth and without building on the interesting framework of DMC3 enemies. It would still have absolutely dogshit bosses like the three fat demons you jump cancel to death or "throw swords at a window" or everything involving sanctus. Dante would still probably be a fundamentally flawed boss that was only designed to bee fought as nero. It would still have stupid shit like the dice game. It would still have a retarded plot that takes up too much screentime.

The ONLY thing that would be improved is that there would probably be more moves, more levels, and more bosses. The stuff they finished showed trends that don't suddenly stop being terrible ideas when you get more money.

I bet if we threw EX-Act in this guy's face he'd be like

>one mechanic

Something involving frame tight inputs doesn't automatically make your combat good. All max-act does is make nero even more of a brainlet character because now he shits out gigantic sweeping AOE's on top of having a comically broken charge shot and buster which is literally the "press circle to knock out enemy" button from god of war except it now has a bunch of reach.

If you wanted to post about mechanics that made nero interesting, why wouldn't you say table hopper? Or jump canceling shuffle for the iframes?

So DMC4 HAS the best combat in the series? Got it.

>Vergil in DMC3
Powerful, probably too powerful overall, but with some quirks and lack of options that means that he A: feels a lot different from dante and B: has issues

>Vergil in DMC4
every single one of his strengths is magnified and made more casual friendly while all of his weaknesses are removed. Can stunlock anything, can mash swords with a formation out, can kill everything in one hit with level 3 charge, can kill entire rooms of enemies with a cutscene super move, much bigger teleport range with way faster recovery, has a ton of moves that are just dante's move but better, literally took his design and animations from DmC of all things

What went wrong? Is it really fair to say lack of dev time for one character?

It saved the franchise whether you like the gameplay or not.

>DMC4
>USFIV
>peaked
They're not bad games but 3 is the best in both instances

>megaman legends 3 cancelled
>capcom blames fans on twitter

Good times.

>"Saved" the franchise by ruining it
>Can't even be credited with "reviving fighting games" as people often say, given that ono and his team used battle fantasia to sell that a game with SF4's look can do well to their capcom bosses, and arcsys put out blazblue to massive success all a few months later as was always planned

Clunky outdated shit

I just feel like Capcom didn't know what they were doing at all or who to target when SFV came about.

>'games as service' model, but they fuck it up with horrible communication at the start and after, couldn't even reach a decision about 'zeni' for a while before dumping it
>says they want it to be accessible for newcomers, launch barebones to get it out for tourney types with missing modes newcomers like and other issues (RQs were horrible)
>alter CA on Mika so no butt slap, alter Cammy's intro, later remove Cammy's nips in the most retarded way and fuck up her model
>after all the censorship have Laura underboob, tons of waifu costumes dumped in

It looks like they're improving but that whole beginning and bit after was schizophrenic. Looks like they're getting better with the models as well.

A game so deserving of a sequel that it may never receive

Define "Fixes"

>ruined it
How?
