Just got Nioh, I now realize how trash the combat is in Souls games.
Bloodborne
Tower of Latria 3-1
Abyss Watchers (they annihilated me, this was my 4th Souls game)
Red Phantom octopus mages on the way to Old Monk or the Frenzy ball-heads in Bloodborne.
DS2
>Snow level
>Ruin Sentinels
>Ruin Sentinels
First time fighting Maneater in Demon's souls back in 2010 or the first time through Sen's Fortress
I had a really hard time in SotFS Heide's tower for some reason
>Just got Nioh
Opinion disregarded. Let me know what you think once you actually get far enough to realize there are only 5 enemy types.
>enemy types
Doesn't matter
Demon's Souls was the hardest for me. I struggled with the entire game until I finally manned up and decided to learn to fight more on the game's terms than my own.
Reminder: Dark Souls 3 is actually terrible and is only liked by nu-souls losers
But if it were Souls it would, right? Faggot.
Been playing since the release of DeS sweetie, and I enjoyed 3. (and 2 actually).
They're all good games.
No, If it was souls it matters that this happens all the type against all enemy types.
If we're talking about all of the hardest parts of our first playthrough of our souls experience then my answers are as follows:
>Hardest Area
My first run through of Duke's Archives
>Hardest Boss
Gargoyles fucked me real good because I refused to summon on them.
>Most annoying enemy
That silver knight up top on Anor Londo
These games aren't any harder than other games. It's just a meme
>what was the hardest souls game for you?
the old hunters
>hardest area
uh not sure it's probably a tie among a couple areas, but off the top of my head 5-2 in DeS
>hardest boss
ludwig
>most annoying enemy
the giant faggots in the ringed city that summon legions of archers
>Being a summonshitter
Literally git gud
>game mechanics are so bad that the bosses treat it as a single player game at all times
What's it like being so shit at real games that you fall back to the souls series to make you feel good?
Souls games are hard if you're retarded and lack the ability to learn from mistakes or pay attention to details. Because so many people are unable to do that they preach that the games are "hard". I tell everyone I introduce the series to that it's a game that will punish you if you fail to learn. If you can learn from what you died to and how to approach the same situation but from a different angle that you can overcome and do anything.
My first playthrough I didn't get past the dragon bridge in DaS. It wasn't until I picked it back up a few years later that I actually sat down and played it. At that time the hardest was Bed of Chaos because of it's stupid as fuck mechanics.
I summon people sometimes and also put my sign down regularly because I like to enjoy the multiplayer aspects of the game. I'm not trying to "prove" anything to anyone, I'm trying to enjoy myself. Have fun playing alone forever.
Idk, what's it like drinking your own cum and being a rimlicker?
>hardest area
Shrine of Amana. This was unpatched on ps3, with no internet. It was pure suffering.
Also had trouble with 4-2. I came back to it and realised the thief ring worked there but I struggled for so long without it.
>hardest boss
A lot of people say O&S, but you have lots of openings and chances to heal if you just run behind a pillar. I'd say Artorias was my hardest first time boss, he absolutely wrecked my shit. Didn't help I was using the Memehander. Next time round I was using a lightning gargoyles halberd and he was easy.
>most annoying enemy
Those hippo fuckers in 2 fuck those guys, special mention goes to the casters in Shrine of Amana.
Don't know if the hardest but I wish they did more raid style bosses like this
It requires you to approach new areas carefully and adjust to the mechanics, fucking up more than twice in a row means almost certain death. Sad to say but this qualifies as a hard game nowadays.
>He doesn't eat ass
Either you're alone or your partner never showers. I pity you.
A lot of people say O&S because pre patch on consoles the lock on mechanics were abhorrent in the first two weeks
>The atmosphere
>The flash to the past remembering Izalith and the lore of it and the chaos
>Knowing you have to put this valiant king to rest
Was genuinely a lot of fun.
>hardest area
Hunter's Nightmare
>hardest boss
Laurence the first Vicar
>most annoying enemy
The bloody crow of Cainhurst and twin Shark faggots in Hamlet, I really can't decide
Im currently playing SotFS but i have play D1
>hardest boss
gargoyles because I didn't upgrade my weapons until after a few tries
>most annoying enemy
Anor Londo archers or the ghost people in the shadded forest (the fog area)
>hardest area
catacombs because after the church bell I went to the catacombs because I thought blighttown was down there... I didn't had any holy weapons.... Found out you have to kill the necormancers so then I just run passed the skeltons...
Random chalices are harder than any of the things you mentioned
Sadly I didn't really take much time doing chalices.
Until you beat the final boss in DaS2, upgrade materials like chunks become a little limited unless you want to farm them from the Gyrm Warrios in the doors of pharros. So keep that in mind when choosing what to upgrade.
Hardest game was probably SotFS.
>hardest area
Shrine of Amana
>hardest boss
Mytha, the Baneful Queen
>most annoying enemy
Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon
>bloodborne
>fishing hamlet
>Orphan of Kos
>those enemies that would take away your insight
thanks for the help
Tbh Friede fucked me up real good. Easily most tries put into a boss. I never summoned and beat her unembered on ng+4. But goddamn I love that fight. I just think it is piece of art the way it looks.
first one i played was DS2 and it took me like 20 hours to pass the area where the dragonrider is
the only reason i kept playing was to say i beat the game I did enjoy it on some masochistic level
but then when i played DS1 and BB I could appreciate they actually aren't dogshit
Did you only play SotFS?
If so I just want you to know that Shrine of Amana used to be a lot worse. The magic arrows casted by those sorceress' used to track you WAY more accurately. That place was pure horror before they patched it.
Hmmm what other changes did they make..
-Nerfed the Sinner boss fight because it was apparently too hard (It was genuinely difficult but didn't need the nerf if you ask me)
-Summonable NPC's got tankier and more HP
-Ancient Dragon or whatever used to be a 1 shot kill. Now you can get hit by his fire.
It makes sense that DS2 haters are people who take 20 hours to finish one easy area. I'm embarrassed for you
>Did you only play SotFS?
As in DaS2? Yes, I bought it after finishing 3 since I wanted more and it was the only other one available for PS4 and I didn't have a PS3 at the time.
Well something that makes DaS2 "hard" is that your iframes/hitbox are a fucking stat, ADP. So unless you put points into that, you're going to go through the game taking damage you honestly shouldn't.
Oh ok, well imo you played the better version. It's just interesting to remember all of the things they changed, patched, and nerfed from the original game.
The stat is agi. Adp raises agi
I know that now, thank you. I was pointing it out to the other person so they'd know but I appreciate you trying to educate me. If I remember correctly, the comfortable amount is 24 ADP which equates to like 98 agility or something like that.
The hardest part of any of these games is obtaining a pure bladestone in demon's Souls
Played them all. Platinum'd Demon's, DS1, and BB. Couldn't be bothered to replay DS2 or 3. Haven't even bought the DLC for 3 yet.
3's dlc is excellent though.
This!
is it though?
Its not even as good as the main game.
>area
>B-blighttown on 1st blind playthrough
>bosses
>Friede
Really good fight
>Ludwig on BL4 with unupgraded weapon
I was literally hitting him for 15 dmg while he would oneshot me with almost anything, I pooped my pants a bit during second phase every time, those hitboxes and that fucking sudden jump backwards with quick slashes
>enemies
>those fucking tentacle fucks in Bloodborne that had the frenzy aura
... did you play the ringed city?
Yes, that was the lesser of the two DLCs.
2
Abyss in 2, Darklurker has the worst run of any boss to get to in the series. I didn't even mind Blue Smelter as much.
Father Gascoigne
Lothric Knights
>tentacle fucks with frenzy
Actually nevermind, I just remembered that Bloody Crow exists. That guy.
TRC is good, AoA is the worst DLC from the series
Opinions
kys retard it was the first souls game i played and i breezed through the other for the most part
no AoA is fucking shit, this is a fact
it's small as shit, overpriced, has 1 actual boss, and is a fucking snow area when there's already one in the main game
Des got craziest difficulty spices bonfires and fuckd up world tendency mechanic that i havent undestand in my 2 playtroughs
Des bosses are weird they go hard earlygame bosses to easy endgame bosses, and then comes last boss who gonna ruin your whole fucking game.
>Orphan after the 10th try
>the easiest boss in the game
>and is a fucking snow area when there's already one in the main game
I'm drawing a blank, whats the pre-existing snow area in 3?
>blow through Bloodborne without summoning
>blow through Nioh without summoning
>Dark Souls 3 still scares the briefs off my ass
I fucking hate facing Friede, Nameless King and the Homo Princes. Ive never beaten them solo
>Homo Princes
How do you have trouble with them? I beat them solo first try on my first playthrough, and 3 was my first souls game.
ithryl
I don't blame you for forgetting something from DaS3
probably DS2
I think I died the most in old hunters but I was having more fun in it
I had plenty of trouble with Fume Knight. He seems to be harder with summons too. that dlc was pretty difficult too
das3 is by far the easiest souls game
I always dread the Pontiff and Dragonslayer Armor on a caster run.
>Hardest souls games
DaS1. Maybe it is because it is the first souls game I played. BB was the easiest and that is because it might have been the latest souls game I played.
>Hardest Area
Tomb of the giants. Cause it is the most annoying.
>Hardest Boss
Ornstein & Smough. The 2nd hardest one is chalice dungeon Amy when i was going for my plat.
>Most annoying enemy
The insight suckers from BB or the archers from Anor Lordo. Especially the ledge ones. Special mention to the fucking worms that deal high damage and are hard to target found in Cainhurst
Laaa laaa LaaAAAaAaaaaa
Nameless King is easy as fuck once you realize you have to go full bloodborne on him. Which means stay on this ass, dodging into his attacks and wail away.
Shields are useless in Dark Souls 3, going full Bloodborne makes the game much easier.
I never fucking learned the parry timing for these cunts.
shields are the best they've ever been in DaS3
it is anytime after they open their mouths and before they grab you.
Shields can be useful. Another way to beat nameless king is to tank his attacks with a heavy build that uses that lightning res shield. But yes, going full bloodborne makes the game easy.
I played Demon Souls on release. Not sure how many people on Sup Forums even remember the buzz and excitement among a few niche groups about the game before journalists and youtubers caught on.
Honestly, I don't think there will be another souls game as mysterious and difficult and Demon Souls was on launch. The game had so many hidden mechanics and features that weren't explained and you couldnt look them up on the internet.
Not to mention the patterns and enemy timing in Demon Souls is much more difficult than Dark Souls and Bloodbourne.
The Hunter would rekt all the Souls protagonists. Sorry, just saying it how it is
>touch the demon in me
havent even think something so horrible like standing in front of and parrying a winter lantern.
>let me stand close.
>Now shut your eyes
When you parry, you get I-frames so if you time it right, Frenzy triggers and you parry meaning you take 0 damage.
>There will never be another Souls game with ending music this beautiful and sad again
youtube.com
Demon's still truly is the masterpiece in the entire series man. I mean, I fucking LOVE Dark Souls 1, don't get me wrong, and bloodbourne is pretty good too.
Maybe it's just a nostalgia thing, but Demon's always seemed so much more intimidating and mysterious. So much more memorable because how well you had to learn the game because of how few and far between nexus checkpoints were.
Also I don't care what anybody says, the final boss in Demon's is the best boss in the whole series.
DaS was my first souls game. I was a little baby, gone in completely blind, and gave up at the gargoyles after equipping the heaviest armour I could, an un-upgraded halberd, no summon, and playing with mouse and keyboard. Toooo fucking hard for my scrub ass
armored spider first time.
now i finally understand.
>Sends you back to the caves again
>I played Demon Souls on release. Not sure how many people on Sup Forums even remember the buzz and excitement among a few niche groups about the game before journalists and youtubers caught on.
what? the game was hyped up before release
I thought it was one of those "you're suppose to die here" boss fights, then the second time I thought it was a puzzle boss fight that I had to solve but no you just had to run straight at it
I always let myself get killed on the twin princes just so I can see their cutscene one more time.
The trailer got people interested but it really didn't turn into a "omg game so hard u must play dis game!" meme until a few months after release. And even after it was released a lot of people didn't even care about the series until Dark Souls got released.
You felt that because Demon's Souls was the first game of its era that was like that, compared to other From release it was truly the first souls game, mysterious, hard, and an interconnected world. Not nostalgia.
shrine of an amala dark souls 2
fire guy in 2-3 of demons souls or Maneater in 3-2
alien insight thief in bloodborne or THAT ONE heavy knight in dragon shrine with the mace and broken hit box in the staircase
Hardest boss I fought was Cool Ranch Smelter on my Crossbow run. Kept getting fucked by the different timings and misjudging reload times
