It has a desktop mode and nobody expects you to have mic on. Just download and log on with steam or something.

Vive isn't worth atm, occulus is cheaper, has better controls, and comes bundled with some decent games

There's no one thing that's worth getting VR for. That's the domain of lesser people, like PS4 owners.

There's plenty of little reasons to get VR but Rift might be better for the price if you don't mind the cable setup for sensors.

I'm curious how people are able to do the crazy shit that they do in VRChat. All these crazy animations make it seem like you can create anything and have other people see it.

You add these animations in unity, assign them to keys and upload them with your character. Theoretically speaking you can do headpatting animation this way too if you're in desktop mode if replace default emotes. Used to be able to do it on keyboard keys but the devs removed that feature.

If there's a decent sale on both a graphics card and a headset I'm getting both boxing day! I'm excited for video games.

Some of it is done by Vive trackers or Xbox kinects.

Step 1 find a character you want to use, can be .pmd, .pmx, etc file formats
Step 2 download blender and unity (check the version)
Step 3 find tupper on youtube and follow his guides, he tells you which plugins to download, customize and rig your model
Step 4 create vrchat account, login unity and upload your character to that account
Step 5 log into the game and be a lewd anime fox girl you massive fag

Microsoft has headset/controller kits that go on sale periodically. They are slightly inferior to the Rift/Vive, but they're cheaper and don't require you to rig your room up with trackers.
