Base coming along nicely, need to start adding some turrets at the entry bunkers. Last raid had 2 suicide bombers but managed to focus them down in time. Don't wanna be a faggot and turn the entry points into long hallways so I can have max amount of time to shoot them down

Best way to deal with addiction is to make a food stockpile in his room, then remove the door and replace it with a wall while he sleeps. Deconstruct the wall and add more food as necessary until cured. For bonus points feed him kibble or something since he's going to be having non stop mental breaks anyway.

Toxic fallout is trivial to deal with for any base, it takes only a couple in game hours to roof over everything and mortars will still fuck up your mountain base because all your power generation is outside. If you just let them shell your base until they get bored you're going to be without turrets when they do show up. You still have to go fight them no matter if you play in a mountain or not. Pods are debatable, but even if your particular defenses make them trivial you're still trading that for infestations.

If you equip someone with a power claw with a melee weapon, does their damage then depend on the weapon or the claw? Or does it add the two together?
if they have a weapon equipped they wont use the claw at all, for best results give them a claw on each hand and let them barefist.
So is anything obviously wrong with my colony? Playing on medium/cassandra and I rarely last more than 2-3 month.
I just can't deal with raiders effectively, half my guys end up wounded in most attacks and if I last till winter where I will usually get fucked by the first enemies carrying smgs and grenades.

What kind of weapons are you using? I'm also new to this game and have been dealing with early raids quite easily with similar defenses, i.e. just some sandbags for cover. Rapid fire weapons like heavy SMG are amazing compared to the starting guns and don't take too much research. Body armor and simple helmet are also pretty important to get early I think.

They are weaker than stone and can actually burn so you should replace them with stone when you can. Better than wood though

1 wind turbine can produce electricity like 3 solar generators, not to mention generators don't work when there's an eclipe or when it's dark. It's good to have solars as backup when you get the BZZTT event and the wind turbines are on very low mode due to no wind. But other than that they're just inferior.

I see you have only 4 colonists, probably can't spare a janitor. But since you already have a hospital try to keep it clean to lower risk of infection(i see in tooltips you got 2 infections, filth is the main reason this happened)
All in all a good setup user, but try to plan years ahead where your facilities are gonna go. Better to have more space than you need than not enough. For instance your fridge is gonna get full eventually and the only way to expand is to the right over the chicken coop, which is gonna look ugly. Your workshop has no way to expand either you'll need to go through solar generators or through stockpile. Either way means you'll need to redesign defence if you want turrets etc
Graveyard is also a problem when it comes to defenses, when you expand the neck so you can park more people and turrets you'll have to dig out graves and move them somewhere else which is unecessary waste of energy and avoidable if you plan ahead
