Bought Fire Emblem Echoes, what DLC are worth buying? I've heard that the first grinding pack is not good. Other opinions? Thanks early.
Bought Fire Emblem Echoes, what DLC are worth buying? I've heard that the first grinding pack is not good...
None, just play the game as it is.
You're just paying for cheats like in Compile Hearts games.
Cipher Companions for fully voiced additional party members.
all of the DLC is trash
Rise of the deliverance has some good maps and cipher is good, that's it
Enjoy the game, OP
they fucking reuse maps twice in rise of the deliverance, all of the cipher ones too
the cipher characters aren't particularly good either except shade
the defend map and escape map are great though
The cipher characters are just nice to have since they're not just cards
it's lazy and the whole DLC package is overpriced
>The only escape and defend maps in Echoes is in DLC
>Playing Fire Emblem
Yeah I agree fully, but OP was asking about buying specifically so I told him the ones that I recommend for pirates.
A shame, but at least it restricts you to preset units.
OP isn't pirating
Yeah I know, he outright stated it. But those are the good DLCs, I'm not going to be an obnoxious faggot and tell him to pirate/hack his 3ds if he's set on buying, regardless of my own views on supporting DLC.
>tfw no Sonya mommy
>additional story chapter for the most likeable side-characters
>fully voiced and seperately integrated bonus units
I regret not getting the DLC but my pirated system somehow didn't let me
On a similar note, is Heirs of Fate worth getting for Fates? Or should I just watch a walkthrough on Youtube?
It has some good gameplay (check the videos to see which ones you want, not all of them are that good) but is mind numbingly retarded in the copious amounts of dialogue. Makes CQ and even Revelations look like a masterpiece narratively.
Can you not just install the .cia DLC through FBI? Here's the link to the USA .cia.

You can get neat skills like the stat-takers and point blank (the skill that allows bow users to attack at 1 tile range regardless), it expands the kid's characters, and the last Heirs of Fates map is pretty fun, though map 2, and 4 can kind of feel like bullshit with the shaky hit rates that you have no other choice but to take them.
Map 2 is also the hardest, fitting considering the map its based on.

Thanks, but I've already beaten the game
I think the DLC and the game's cia somehow need to align on some level. Not sure how it works, but I've always had trouble installing DLCs whie in other instances it'll just work no problem. Awakening for example worked flawlessly from the freeshop, but even redownloading echoes did nothing to integrate the dlc
>point blank
man, fuck that skill
Fates PvP was p2w bullshit, warp and dlc skills out the ass
I hope they rebalance pvp if they bring it back
>the skill that allows bow users to attack at 1 tile range regardless
Was anyone even good with this skill? Takumi seems like the only one tanky enough to use it. Mozu and Setsuna are made of glass, while Niles and Anna have Shining Bow.
I'm OP, what can you tell me about grinding maps and overclasses? Is grinding in game good so I don't need to use DLC? Are the overclasses necessary for post-game or not?
For some reason my Mozu keeps getting a good amount of HP and defence levels in Conquest, and by giving her point blank she pretty much becomes a slightly less tanky, but faster and more skillful Xander. I'd just pair her up with Effie and she'd be a good candidate to deal with Snipers with counter, and Kinshi Knights.
Try to get your units to around 90-99 XP while playing a normal map, then go to a dungeon to have them level up against a weak dungeon mob and you can easily reset the game if they get a bad level up instead of having to restart a story map. That's the easiest way to "grind".
I recall many times to having to backtrack back to the Dragon Shrine after reaching Sage's Hamlet, because I kept getting lost in the forest when I just wanted to grind for good levels.
Never bother with the overclasses unless you REAlly want to see Faye's tummy.
I beat the postgame dungeon on hard mode with no DLC. I wouldn't say it was a walk in the park, but I wouldn't call it a strenuous challenge either and I did zero grinding or special preparation beforehand. Echoes is easy enough that you should be able to get through it with zero grinding maps at all. I recommend playing through the game first and then maybe looking into Rise of the Deliverance if you get invested in the characters involved.
Does grinding require a lot of time without DLC?
Still been meaning to set aside an afternoon to do that, is there anywhere you can save (not suspend) mid way through, or do you lose everything if you fuck up and don't have a pinwheel turn left.
There's a bonus cave in part 4 of Alm's route that has a hug amount of exp giving enemies
>tfw I'll never get to beat True Apotheosis because I somehow lost all my DLC when I transferred my data to my New 3DS
This is why I don't buy DLC anymore.
the latter
Yup. I didn't lose any games or DLC but I certainly lost all my saves, including all the 100% completion/near-completion ones, which had a similar effect for many games for me. The whole 3ds -> 3ds thing is a real shitshow in general.
There's no saving that I remember. You have your turnwheels and they don't replenish because it's a single enormous dungeon run. I remember people in threads after release letting a couple units die because they were too near the end.
It should all be linked to your Nintendo account. My OG 3DS was stolen and I just had to call Nintendo to get all my games and DLC back on my N3DS.
My N3DS is linked to my Nintendo account, but when I put in Awakening, I can't access any DLC.
None. Pirate all of them.
>Cipher Characters not good
>Randal
Randal is Mathilda but on steroids and better availability
Don't you dare talk shit about Cipher.
Just now reached Act 4, can you only recruit the Ciphers to one army? I think Celica's could use Randall more and yet another Peg Knight but do they help out in Alm's route more?
I never grinded and I beat the game just fine.
Just pirate everything and then buy what you like. I gave them my money on the limited edition after playing it twice. SoV was pretty nice, even though it was piss easy.
I can think of one level in Alm's bit of pt 4 where a pegasus would be exceedingly useful, and a lot of swamps in Celica's part 4, but betwen Catria, Paola, Mae, Celica, and Sonya I never had any issues with it
