The Xbone was fine and from a hardware perspective it is a straight-up better console. The issue they had was the assumption that the momentum was irreversible and that they could actually do that online DRM shit without pissing off the base.
Trying to force the kinect was also a bad idea from the cost perspective, but that's much more secondary. People would have probably swallowed it otherwise.

Red Ring didn't really affect the X360 sales. It was destroying the PS3 (and the Wii was destroying them both) until the 2010s.
Then Nintendo started concentrating on the Wii U, and Microsoft started concentrating on the Kinect, both which were horrible failures... meanwhile, PS3 finally started having good games.
I think currently their big problem is that they constantly do a big thing, but that's it. Like the Xbox One X. They finally did a big powerful system, but neglected to have any exclusives ready for it. You know something's fucked when Assassin's Creed and PUBG are considered the flagship titles for a console's launch. They did say they will be working on starting up more studios to make exclusive stuff, but who knows how that will pan out.
No, I feel that the next Xbox will finally be the first Xbox without any issues.

In my opinion yea. Nintendo for some reason were very hesitant to put their own IPs on it. Games could be harder/more challenging because players could get help on Miiverse. The whole idea of asymmetrical gameplay to this day is barely touched on.

If you want custom armors and helmets, you have to buy the lootboxes. And even then there's a 1/10 chance of actually getting a new piece of armor. You can't deny that Halo 5's movement is gimmicky trash and just serves to slow down gameplay.
