The first palace isn't that interesting. What the game does right is make you actually feel something toward Kamoshida. None of the others even attempt to come close.
GIVE IN TO TEMPTAAAATIOOOOON
>100 hour game
>not on handheld platforms
k bye
You need to make sure the first part of the game is the best you can make it to bait everyone with low attention spans into playing.
First palace had the most buildup and the best established stakes, plus a lot more interplay between the Cognitive World and the Real World.
All the other palaces are pretty much One and Done.
>the less gameplay time, the better
fuck you too op
>best palace
>not the museum
>not the pyramid
fuck off
I like this game, but it is sad that the kamoshida palace had the most ripple effects on the story. The other ones serve only like 2 subplots at best.
Isn't that normal for JRPGs. They just frontload it and it mostly teeters off. Doesn't help that Atlus is kind of notorious for shit pacing at this point.
>tfw they drop the whole heist thing after the second palace
Why is Takemi dressing like a prostitute?
>100+ hour game
>Makoto is still best girl
This is acceptable
>Wrongfully accused of Assault and Battery
>Parents kick you out and send you across the country
>Convicted felon and the leader of an international crime syndicate
>Parents welcome you home
what is a bank vault ?
Why has Kawakami never dressed as a whore if she is one?
His parents didn't kick him out, he got released on probation and Shujin was the only school that would take him back.
If Kamoshida would have killed Ann in the Palace before she awoke her Persona, wouldn't real world Kamoshida be sad?
Casino>Pyramid>Bank>Space station>Museum>Castle>Boat
>someone tied up a loose end for me
>on to the next girl
>bank that high
no. higher than boat for sure but definitely not the other two
But Futaba's was the 4th one
Fpbp
Do you like to play Joker as an edgelord?
...
This meme needs to stop. The only reason everyone here keeps saying that Kamoshida was the best villain is because he the exact replica of what every virgin on Sup Forums hates: a chad. Apart from that the things he did aren't even that bad compared to the others, he's just a douchebag.
I play him as a chuuni.
Just started this recently. How long before the tutorial type stuff ends, and you have more control of what you do day to day?
it never ends, I finished it and even toward the end of the game you still get tutorials even in NG+
First palace is the hardest if you're starting on hard difficulty for your first game. It only gets easier from then on.
Persona 5 is worse then 3 and 4, mainly due to having a shitty villain and being disconnected from the plot as the main character. After Kamoshida you really don't have much of a motivation as the player to get invested in the "villain of the month" type garbage. You learn to hate Kamoshida and you as the player are in danger from him , who fucking cares that some dude works his workers too hard or that a mob guy does mob stuff? And don't get me started on why Adachi is superior to Pancake boy and armstrong is virtually every way possible
>pyramid
>not the casino
>the shitty mess of a casino
>not based ship
I don't think the boat is the last dungeon, but I'm fighting its boss right now and I gotta say, the entire thing is a giant fucking slog. 20 mouse puzzles, 6 mini-bosses, boss encounter has 3 stages, final boss has 10 stages. It's exhausting
>more gameplay is bad
Yeah, when will they give you more visual novel sections. Am I right?
Casino > Pyramid > Castle = Bank > Museum > Cruise ship > Space Station
>mini-boss gauntlet
>based
>Nobody can hate him for abusing and sexual harassing his students or driving a girl to try to kill herself
>based ship
>repetitive fights and forced backtracking thanks to a shit gimmick
>but it's okay because NANOMACHINES SON RULES OF NATUUUUURE XD
Nothing wrong with the gameplay itself, but the ship is basically designed to waste your resources. Nothing in the ship is actually hard, just extremely lengthy. Even the final boss, while awesome, was more a test of how big your SP bar is. It's a weird challenge at a different angle, and I found it to be not as good as most of the other dungeons because of it.
Also the villain and story leading up to it were kinda shit
>ship not dead last
it's Ann's fault, if she didn't reluctantly refuse him, Shiho might have not suffered as much as she did. It's Ann's fault!
Literally the best music, different sections with a lot of variety and, being on the hunt for mini bosses, is pretty much a few palaces in one. Just because you forced yourself to do it in one sitting and got tired of it, doesn't mean it isn't the best one with a large amount of stuff to do and also the best bosses.
Pyramid takes second place because its also pretty good.
>Beats kids for the hell of it
>Rapist
>Manipulator
>Drove a girl to want to kill herself
Yeah, sounds like a real class act
Nothing wrong with that.
I liked the gameplay better than 4 and the game is stylish as fuck but holy shit the plot. I hate how they keep pushing it everywhere instead of giving more breathing room for characterization as exemplified by having a single event at the beach trip and having the rest of it being a set-up for Haru's main story arc and the entire school festival being a setup for Akechi's main story arc. Compare to the trips and other events of 3 and 4 and you will quickly see how they give fun light hearted moments that help with characterization and even manage to set-up future plot points without taking away from it. They really went all in on the main story this time, trying to make it all "mature" and 'edgy" and calling attention to it, which would have been a fine direction had the main plot not been fucking shit. Any nuance or questionable morality done by any faction in the game is glossed over by the fact the main party are fighting people that are literally worse than Hitler. It was the old unbelievably good people fighting against riculously evil people we see all the time, only this time they doused everything in red and black to make it seem edgier and cooler than it actually is.
I was going to complain the ship was higher than anything but then I remembered the fucking space station. Fucking hell that sure was a shitshow. Why is nobody grading the deepest level of Mementos?
Futaba a cute
3's villains sucked ass though. Strega is shit.
>There are people that claim to be fans of Persona 4 that still, to this day, think Kanji's actually gay and that Naoto is transgender
>There are people
Horrifying.
...
>chad
He's a washed up sports star who can't even get laid trying to hold on to a shred of fame through a highschool volleyball team.
this was one of the most frontloaded games I've ever played in my life. A little disappointing, I expect more from people who have made some of my favorite games and had like 5 years to make this one.
>There are Persona fans
>There are people that claim to be fans of Persona 4
I mean if you count the bit at the VERY beginning when joker is getting sold out in the casino I agree
Yeah, Kamoshida's a has-been. His entire dungeon is him overcompensating for this
Scale of villainy matters less than whether or not it resonates, and boy did his shit resonate
I literally only see people shitting on this game.
Feels pretty good.
Yeah agreed but 3 still had a much better story and cast overall compared to 5, Adachi is still best "villain" by far
yeah man the P5 hate circlejerk is my favorite it's an easy erection every time
Say what you want about P5, it's still the most popular Persona(more popular than SMT too) and is the best RPG of the year.
Stay mad.
but that line is intentionally cheesy as all hell
also goofball/smooth criminal Joker a best
Adachi is just as bad, though
>it's funnier so it's better
everyone that lives by this mentality needs to be murdered
Both are meaningless achievements.
>100+ hour game
>spoils the twist in the first cutscene
Adachi is not better because
>it's funnier so it's better
Adachi is a better character overall, has more development, an actual backstory, a pretty believable motivation for doing what he did, being the foil of the main character and the games main themes, and being pretty damn sympathetic
>and being pretty damn sympathetic
hahahahaha
>a pretty believable motivation
lmao
>a pretty believable motivation
>>and being pretty damn sympathetic
GUFFAW
>being the foil of the main character and the games main themes
So since this appears to be the only part of this post with any kind of meaning to it he was a better foil to the protagonist than Takaya was evidently supposed to be to the P3MC that much is true. Not that it really matters when on this ground Goro was better than either of them to the point where his given name was relevant
Fuck off, chad.
>not robbing a pyramid
>argumentum ad populum
Seriously?
>Goro was better than either of them to the point where his given name was relevant
Goro was neither a foil to the MC because HE PROVES THEIR FUCKING POINT and isn't developed nearly as much. He's pretty much just as bad as the rest of the villains in the game who only exist to fellate the phantoms.
just started P5, currently going through the Castle with Ann on my team. I'm enjoying it, but why does the game restrict your freedom so much, why does it feel like an endless tutorial, and why is the talking cat so fucking annoying?
>Pancake boy is better
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA
Game got praise in the west. Do the math.
Goro is a terrible fucking character. P5fags don't go out of their way to defend him and essentially wants to sweep him under the rug until P5 Crimson does something to expand on his role and fix the mess of a character he is.
Goro was someone that completely threw away every part of himself and created this totally fake person so he could belong somewhere. He had no real bonds, justice stopped being something he believed in and became something he just knew people liked to hear about, the deal he makes is pure onesided blackmail, every single action he took from the moment he got his power was driven by pure selfishness, he was virtually the opposite of and an inferior Joker in every single way yet he managed to be satisfied with that until the real thing turned up. Like every other villain in the game he had enough of a moral compass to know what he was doing was wrong, but kept making excuses about how he's gonna get revenge for how his dad ruined his life and acting like those justified what he was doing. The way he lived and the way people accepted him and the lies he perpetuated were not things they had a real answer to which is why they spent the entire last arc trying to remove them by force, and on top of that, the daughter of one of the people he was responsible for killing said she understood exactly why he was satisfied with how things were.
Keep the groupthink to yourself. The issue is not the character, it's how they blew through all the important stuff regarding him in one scene in one room. It's reminiscent of how the Chaos;Child anime spent an episode dumping important shit left and right while the characters were all fucking around in the same space. It was awful.
>Goro was someone that completely threw away every part of himself and created this totally fake person so he could belong somewhere. So exactly what I said. He only exists to fellate the phantoms more and its even more embarrassing because HE FUCKS HIMSELF UP FOR NO SHEER REASON other than he's a fucking idiot.
>The way he lived and the way people accepted him and the lies he perpetuated were not things they had a real answer to which is why they spent the entire last arc trying to remove them by force, and on top of that, the daughter of one of the people he was responsible for killing said she understood exactly why he was satisfied with how things were.
And that gets completely dashed away when Ryuji outright says "fuck that guy he does not deserve any sympathy". Can't even say he has Adachi's relatability because his story is way too out there to be relatable and he isn't even competent.
>playing a game made by, and for limp-wristed asian beta males and weeaboo trash
not even once
The issue is all the character. He was conceived for the sake of a TWEEST and nothing more hence why his whole backstory is rushed and he doesn't get any fucking development so its hard to give a shit about him unless you're a demented fujoshit.
yeah it mostly how you can relate on how you hate the villian, who gives a shit about some artistan, millionaire or some politician if you havent experience them firsthand unlike a shitty ass teacher or a chad when we were kids
Looking cool user.
>And that gets completely dashed away when Ryuji outright says "fuck that guy he does not deserve any sympathy".
But that's bullshit, they did sympathize with him, and they said this. This is the only reason why "hey why don't you help us beat up your dad so you aren't in the way" is on the table at all. What they had no intention of doing was letting him off easy for anything that he actually did.
>But that's bullshit, they did sympathize with him, and they said this.
Ryuji and Morgana literally said after his death that they didn't sympathize with him and they never bring him up again.
>This is the only reason why "hey why don't you help us beat up your dad so you aren't in the way" is on the table at all.
What? They literally just fucking said that they had a common enemy and they should work together to stop him not because they felt bad for his sob story.
Honest question here. Why do people like the casino? I feel that its mostly forgettable.
Actually, after his death, Ryuji talks about how he blames Goro for what he did but he blames Shido more for twisting him so much, and Morgana says that in his heart he might not have been so bad, so that's not true in the slightest. And they do bring him up again when they confront Shido directly, it's only after the arc is over that they stop talking about him until Sae brings him up out of the blue.
And you're also wrong about the second part too, since this immediately follows them explaining very blatantly what they could understand and where they knew he went wrong. Makoto in particular said that she got him wanting to get back at an adult that fucked with him. Persona is known for 0 subtlety writing, it's very hard to miss all of this.
BGM, the insightful "commentary" about the Japanese judicial system being a literal casino where you'd never win, Shadow Sae.
Going through the casino with just Joker and Goro is pure kino.
Also, voiced Palace track is nice.
Should I just get the PS3 version? Is there honestly any difference between the two? It's so much cheaper.
>Music
>palace itself was pretty good, especially after the fucking space station
>finally caught up with the prologue, story starting to pick up
>I wanna fuck Shadow Sae
Only thing I don't like about it is how retarded everyone sans Akechi is.
>are you saying this game is rigged too?! Just like the last one?! Whoa...
>Actually, after his death, Ryuji talks about how he blames Goro for what he did but he blames Shido more for twisting him so much, and Morgana says that in his heart he might not have been so bad, so that's not true in the slightest
Wrong again dumbfuck. In the phone conversation he says they don't forgive Goro regardless of what Shido did because they were still his actions. The Morganna bit is shit you made up apparently because he also feels the same. The whole point is that Shido's douchebaggery does not redeem Goro of his actions.
> And they do bring him up again when they confront Shido directly, it's only after the arc is over that they stop talking about him until Sae brings him up out of the blue.
They don't. He's just one of the many victims that they list for Shido, they don't every mention him ever again after his death and the only thing you hear from him for the rest of the game is Sae's report that they havent found his body
>ince this immediately follows them explaining very blatantly what they could understand and where they knew he went wrong.
And this is followed up yet again by them saying it does not justify his actions and that they don't forgive him. You must have missed that. The only thing they had in common was Shido that's fucking it.
>palace itself was pretty good
More and more backtracking and waiting. Really I think the only reason people don't shit on Casino as hard as the other palaces was because its aesthetics were good by mechanically it played the same as the other palaces after castle which was still the best one. Space Station was just boring to look at same with Bank and Museum
>100 hour game
Fuck that. It's even more rich when you consider that 70% of that is generic anime cutscenes/dialogue you can find in any VN.
90% of games that are longer than 20 hours are filled with filler and padding rather than keeping the story concise and focused.
lol m8 you're the one making things up, literally just watch this video from 3:56:00 on
youtube.com
and then this one from 1:00-2:03 for Morgana and Ryuji's final thoughts on the matter, and then 2:06:57-2:08:00 where they literally talk about Goro after he's dead right before the fight begins.
youtube.com
At no point have I ever said that they forgave him for what he did, in fact I've said that they have no intention of doing so. You're confusing forgiveness with sympathy like they are somehow equivalent when they aren't and they aren't even confused as such in the eyes of the dumb teenagers in the game or by the low quality script. Fuck in the part of my post that you quoted I'm literally talking about how Ryuji blames him for what he did. Your argument is such a complete wreck and it's actually pretty funny
Should I buy Persona 3, 4 or 5 first, Sup Forums?
I don't know if 5 is worth getting on ps3.
2.
