Why Is this game getting GOTY awards? Because you can climb everywhere? Witcher 3 is so much better in every way. Better enviroments, better story, better combat, and better graphics. OH, but you climb in BOTW so that means its GOTY.

Well, to put things into perspective, I booted up Skyrim, the "GOAT open-world game", and there were so many invisible walls. The game really railroads the player into taking certain paths. In BotW, you can go literally anywhere on the map.

Mainly because I feel like it is completely awful when it comes to exploration. That first shot of Link standing on the hill, overlooking the world, is the most evocative part of the game. The fire quickly dies when you actually go around the world, and you realize that no, its not a world teeming with mystery with secrets to uncover, its mostly just a really boring world filled with shrines and korok seeds and bokoblin camps. I don't understand how a game with a big focus on exploration would have such a boring world with almost nothing to actually explore.

Instead of being a game where you uncover the land it's a game where you basically just visit shitty activity spots. It does not have the feeling of a truly great exploration/adventure game.

Last time Sup Forums said that GOTY awards don't matter....so they matter now?

I agree with you, but The Witcher came out last year, not this year.

Seriously this. It's so fucking disappointing. I don't get the acclaim at all. It's one of the worst designed worlds I've ever seen in a game and yet people eat it up.

nintendo purposefully makes games bad/the opposite of what people want (see: skyward sword) and then the next game is more a return to form, and even if it's mediocre it still gets praise.

It's the most 8/10 game I've ever played.

90% of Sup Forums loves it. It's just that everybody is more vocal about what they dislike, so you see more of the 10%.

I would give it a 3/10, not even kidding. I enjoyed almost nothing about it and the game is frankly arrogant in how it thinks it doesnt need an interesting world to be fun. The combat is also completely shit

Seriously. I never thought Nintendo would ever make a zelda that was worse than Skyward Sword, but I'd much rather play that than this. At least it has actual music and proper dungeons.

you don't really need maxed out inventory anyways, but it's still pretty fucking annoying that inventory slots are tied to korok seeds mainly for future playthroughs.

The people who hate this game are absolutely SEETHING that it keeps getting GOTY awards so they have to shitpost harder to compensate. The game isn't going to magically change to fit their arbitrary expectations, so again, they have to find every thread they can about it and cry to try and quash any and all positive feedback. It's not a perfect game by any stretch of the word, yet it sends anti BOTW posters into a sperg like fury every time.
