Are sonic games about speed or momentum?

are sonic games about speed or momentum?

They're about characters and story first and foremost.

Speed enabled by buildinand preserving momentum. Kinda like a 2D racing game.

Momentum.

Everyday when you're walking street
Everybody that you meet
Has an original point of view
And I say HEY!!

okay

>Posting the one we all know is shitty
You have to go back, Fernandez.

...

Given that he is a fictional 2D rendering with no weight, speed and momentum are the same thing

do you have autism?

Everybody has their own answer, but gameplay wise it’s about momentum, alternate routes and strategic enemy placement, an element often overlooked in the discussion of these games. It can totally make the game like Mania, or kill it like Advance 2.

If speed is the objective from the get go they’re bound for failure. It is a reward, not a given.

And friendship.
>t. Sonic

Friendship is pretty important.

momentum

For a good story, sure. We’re discussing gameplay though

Both. Your goal is to get as fast as you can BY using the terrain to gain speed.

Nipnog fuck off, stop making shit Sonic games and let the west handle it.

The last 2 decades says otherwise.

>20 years
>Sonic Adventure came out nearly 20 years ago
>The point Sonic Team didn't know what the fuck a Sonic was anymore

Really makes me think.

2 worlds

ITT: Franchises that are still around only because of their niche and autistic fan base.

are you new here phoneposter?

both, regardless of what sonic game

boost games have more of a focus on speed while 2d games have more of a focus on momentum though

>Niche
Lolwat? No really, how is some character that got parade balloon floats "niche"?

Also post a better modern Sonic jeez, that one looks worse than 06 Sonic.

>Speed
Risk vs Reward, normal running speed and screen space gives the player enough time to avoid hazards if they make mistakes. Maximum running speed can be pushed even further (Springs, ramp drops, clever pathing for speed build up) which can get the player through levels much quicker at the risk of having no screen space to see hazards, however this is completely at the agency of the player.
>Momentum
With practice enables the player to gracefully navigate through the games levels and keep moving, rather than having to carefully stop/start.
