It's time to admit Devil May Cry 4 is garbage

It's time to admit Devil May Cry 4 is garbage

ur mom is fat AND gay

>he makes threads purely to stir up negativity

I already admitted it years ago when I first played it.

how fucking new are you

Bayonetta has done EVERYTHING better than Devil May Cry.

>he accepts people doing this kind of shit as an acceptable status quo

Every Devil May Cry game is good

2 is OBJECTIVELY bad.

STEAL A SOUL FOR A SECOND CHANCE

How do I get good at enemy stepping? Every time I try, I always end up either being much higher than the enemy or doing a double jump instead, making it impossible to keep attacking. The YouTube skill vids I've been watching make it look like Dante is floating in the air; the enemy as well

>take damage
>pause, return to title screen
>load last checkpoint
>try again

Great ranking system!

>QTEs
Automatic F

It's not garbage, it's just half of a 10/10 game. Then Special Edition came out and made it 60% of a 10/10 game.

Never should have had that faggot nero

Dante levels was the only good part of the game

He, Raiden, and Apollo Justice are all shitters who stole the main characters' spots.

Still better than any DMC not named 3.

Hey now, I actually liked Nero a bit. Only his cocky attitude and banter with the bosses though, the whole white knight shit he had going on whenever Kirie was involved can go eat a dick.

>Apollo
Bitch please, Hobo Wright was top tier but as soon as he started lawyering again Phoenix reverted back to flop-sweaty pussy. Apollo didn't steal that spot, Phoenix fucking abdicated.

>back in my teens when DMC4 info was slowly being leaked piecemeal
>checking the official website that took 9000 years to load on my shitty 3rd world dial up
>the exuberance that came with each new character bio shown, each new enemy type displayed
>rewatching the trailers over and over
>buy the game on release day
>it's shallow as hell, most of the enemies are punching bags and the level design is worse than 2.
>the swordplay is nice but outside of the dante battle it feels wasted on an otherwise dull game.

Pretty much this
The gameplay is extremly good, but in every other aspect it lacks content,as if they made the gameplay first then rushed the game.
With a better story, more scenarios, enemies, bosses, music, skins, options and improvements dmc4 could be a goty.

We all agree that Credo was a 10/10 fight, though, right?

Yes. Easily one of the best boss fights in the entire series

>Only his cocky attitude and banter with the bosses though
But we already have Dante for that. We don't need two cocky assholes running around the place. It's derivative as fuck.

Why was Nero such a huge Kyrie fan? He kept yelling his name throughout the whole game.

It's a deeply flawed game, but it's far, far, from garbage.
I know you're kidding but the way I figure it, she was basically his motivation
I remember reading some dev commentary saying that if she died Nero would basically go crazy and start wanting more power i.e. he'd become like Vergil

>when the motivation is just right

it takes a lot of skill to do it right but I think if you don't fuck up the real Dante fight it's a total adrenaline rush.

>loved Vergil in DMC3SE
>played him nonstop
>loved how they made his stupid edgyness enjoyable
>play DMC4 thinking it had Vergil
>get his fuckin son instead
>mediocre as hell
>somehow Dante isn't even that fun
>DMC4SE comes out
>finally bought it
>immediately start out as Vergil
>game reeks of terrible design
>still
>enemies are all designed for Nero still
>doesn't matter
>Vergil is absolutely broken
>actually fun
>mfw
Going through Legendary Dark Knight mode currently. Haven't had this much fun since DMC3SE.
Outside of Vergil, the game is absolutely trash. The combat can be good and shine at times, Nero has a good gimmick but fuck the level design and enemy design.

No idea if you'll read this, but basically you have to the right rhythm for it and do it fast in succession. Just play a lot and practice, there's no easy way about it.
It's a great fight honestly and Credo's lines during it only make it better
I liked the Dante fight and if you don't cheese it, it's an absolute blast
Vergil's fun but I don't like the "embed sword to teleport" thing, it feels phoned in and sometimes it doesn't even work right. Overall I dislike how they handled his teleporting, it could've just been tied to the style button like DMC3 with some tweaks and it would've been great.
Also I dislike how you can't trick up if there's a sword embedded into an enemy.
Not to mention how grossly overpowered Vergil is...

3 is mediocre. 1 is a better game.

>It feels phoned in
I think it actually was. I'm pretty sure Virgin had that exact gimmick and that's where they got it.

This is a fucking meme to the very end. I'm playing 1 right now and unless the HD version is for faggots, that is a damn lie. I feel so limited compared to 3.

Yes, it's more limited, and on a smaller scope. But I've found every single move you do get actually has a use. Not to mention the perfect sound design makes it feel really good.

Literally just have DMCV be DMC3's cohesion/relative completeness with 4SE's combat depth/variety and a real budget and a sprinkling of 1's visual design. Then you have a perfect game.

Yeah DmC Vorgil had that
I seriously wonder if one of the reasons they included that gimmick in DMC4SE was because they wanted to pander to DmC fans or something
Thing is that in DmC the game and the character where designed around that feature from the ground up, while in DMC4SE it feel like an untested prototype feature.
Also I feel like the extra Dante costume that is obviously inspired by Donte was unnecessary. I mean it doesn't look bad but we could've gotten a better color swap than that.

It isn't but it definitely has its fair share of flaws

>as if they made the gameplay first then rushed the game.

It isn't an as if, the game was rushed. Dante was supposed to have his own levels and bosses instead of just backtracking through Nero's levels and fighting Nero's bosses again.

DMC4 was literally released half finished.

Well I would think they got feedback about Vergil's limits compared to Dante in 3SE. I've always been annoyed at how you have to do a second jump with him. However, Dark Slayer is very similar to Trickster, so I don't see why we would need another way to get close to an enemy. He already had that.

>taking damage
Maybe these kinds of games aren't for you.

4>3>1>dog shit>>>

Perfect would be everyone from the previous games being playable. I'd be fine if they all shared the same levels, even.

It was rushed...poor itsuno.

And 1's sound design too.

Read it. Okay, guess I'll just have to keep practicing. Hey, there are things that were hard for me to execute at first, like EX-acting after every slash, but I can do it almost without a hitch now.

It didn't take me long to get EX-Act, but MAX-Act was always a fucking bitch because I never was sure whether you do it at the start, in the middle, or at the end. I get it to off about 30% of the time.

>Dedicated dodge button
Casual detected

Of course that'd be the case.
>Start with Dante & Nero
>Acquire Trish, Lady, & Lucia during the story
>Unlock Vergil for beating the game
>Unlock Sparda for beating the game on Very Hard
>Both Bloody Palace & a new more sectioned Challenge mode have optional Local co-op
