it's called City Pop you dumb mongrel
>tfw no maria takeuchi gf
Wrong
It's literally called 80's J-pop
I have an idea for a game with this sort of music, but it also will have eurobeat influences and more emphasis on funk basslines
I always thought j-pop/rock/etc was just a generic term to encapsulate music from japan rather than a genre itself, but then again, people here still argue if Souls games are jrpg or wrpg sometimes.
>City Pop is a predominantly Japanese genre which originally became popular with the blooming economy of the country during the 70s-80s, mostly having a relation with the everyday urban and luxury life of Japanese metropolitan areas. It often aimed a more adult audience than J-Pop and had a more contemporary and Western sound than Kayōkyoku and Enka.
same, thank you youtube

Is this song from some neo-noir private detective series that I don't know about?
maybe "Im just heartless"
what is city pop. never heard this term.
youtube.com
I fucking adore this song.
pop music but not for children
tfw
Buzzwords for rock-jazz fusion with some J-pop thrown in. Look up the origin of the term, it's quite romantic to be quite honest.
I will never forgive the boomers for getting to experience the 80s in all its glory then ruining everything for cheap strawberries and fat 401k accounts, leaving their children destitute
it got posted on reddit, giving it a huge boost in views. so now when you listen to a city pop song on youtube, it's almost always in the recommended
Who doesn't.
what
what did the boomers do that you object with? they just lived their lives, man
>what did the boomers do that you object with?
polluted heavily
>tfw these songs brings me back to the 90's
I know the songs are even older than that but holy shit theres something in the quality of the audio that really fills me with nostalgia.
Yakuza 0
If your parents were smart they managed to secure their investments before they died so you would never have to work again and can just spend your life travelling SEA.
Plastic Love

just think man, post-millennials will blame you for shit that you just did that you didnt know was ruining the world, like piracy and shitposting
...
We're talking about boomers.
They're not smart.
>boomers
>leaving their children anything and not just hedonistically blowing through their kids inheritance
they were when they were your age.
when you're 50/60/70 you'll be just like them. mark my words
>Final boss
>Sick Jazz Track starts playing

They're the last generation that collects social security. They invented the reverse mortgage. They don't listen to how much things have changed when they give the advice they once followed. And if they do listen, they forget. Extreme nepotism. I could go on and on, but holy hell where have you been man.
No, because when they were my age they had a stellar economy spoiling them to shit.
My parents managed to save and invest wisely, I inherited my father's company and will inherit my mother's house.
People have been poor throughout all of history, but with intelligent investing over a few generations that can rapidly change, so things just kind of run themselves while you enjoy the sights and sounds of the world.
hating on baby boomers is a meme
Smooth.
Thanks for the thread, OP. Harder to find interesting '80s music.
>startup YouTube
>Ryo Fukui, Gabor Szabo and Mort Garson start playing
>24/7 lo-fi hip hop/vaporwave
...
god you are so stupid
>I inherited my father's company
And how is anyone who hears your life story now wiser for having heard it?
>the normies are discovering smooth Japanese beats
No

No it's not.
Oh wait.
It is!
But my points remain valid!!
This guy produced and co-wrote Plastic Love

I'm saying the "all boomers are stupid" meme is untrue. Many just saved their money and didn't blow it on dumb shit.
Don't blame the generation, blame your parents for squandering the opportunity.
Protip, the economy is still booming, these are very good times to make lots of money.
1970s Japanese music is where it's at, though.
>load up Sup Forums
>this music starts playing
kys
Western 80's music is so artificial and bad compared to this stuff, almost as bad as modern shit
I will NOT kys myself
And you just told me you're going to inherit your dad's company.
What about a talented worker from within it? I dunno. That seems more meritocratic.
youtube is actually really good at recommending music nowadays
just do it, it'll all be over soon
sorry to burst your bubble but this shit has been crawling with normalfags ever since the vaporwave meme
youtube.com
No, I won't do it, I'll live long enough to see Japan nuked a third time
This is so funny. I've been listening to the future funk remix of this for a year, then all of a sudden the original is uploaded, I knew what it was of course. Now it has over four million views, crazy.
ITT
I figured I wasn't the only one getting into this shit.
The second I realized that there was a channel for it I knew I was on a bandwagon.
>Protip, the economy is still booming, these are very good times to make lots of money.
It's booming but I'm not seeing local businesses fucking hiring anyone yet.
So you'll forgive everyone for not tapdancing after 16 straight years of shitty presidencies, and the resulting fallout. Things are still fucked without lube out there and it'll take a lot more unfucking for this to not shatter into a million pieces in the gradual future.
Stop. Fucking. Celebrating.
The world has never worked like that user. In fact it is more meritocratic now than it has been in almost all of history. Of course a father will give his son his company, that has been the way it has been for thousands of years, it's just like inheriting your father's tools.
I'm not him but I'll be inheriting my uncle's company, most likely, and I am a talented worker within it. I'm the 2nd best tech there.
>What about a talented worker from within it? I dunno. That seems more meritocratic.
Yeah man, I'm sure your average factory worker actually has the skills to run a factory.
>The world has never worked like that user.
Excuse me, I wasn't arguing for the world, I was arguing against the heir's scruples.
Grow up you absolute child.
>I'm great
>Take my word for it
You've convinced me, user. Good work.
Just listen to the music, I bet you'll like it.
