Great graphix but holy shit it was boring
Watch the presentation fully, you fucking shithead. Clearly you didn't see more than 5 minutes of it. And THIS is "just a pre-Alpha state", lol. What they've managed to achieve at fucking RAW-AS-FUCK PRE-ALPHA (basically only 2% off of the final build's content/effects/graphics/animations/textures) is downright SHOCKING. Literally NO ONE ELSE out there (not even fucking Kojima AND Rockstar COMBINED TOGETHER) can do such fidelity at a friggin' pre-alpha state these days. Star Citizen has already proven itself to be the "Crysis 2.0 of the modern age". I'm literally downright afraid of even just thinking how this shit will look like in 4K and fully maxed out after it goes gold, if THIS is how it already looks at a fucking pre-alpha.
They needed 5 years to make 2% of the game?
When they remove having to pay for ships with irl money, I'll care.
why does the protagonist's VA sound so shit?
>looks like doom 3
>mad stutters
>somehow lumberyard looks worse than cryengine
Im getting a kind of a starship troopers vibe but uhhh i dunno they bit off more than they could chew
hope the backers get what they paid for
Got a wing commander tier voice acting and interaction
i-its place holder r-r-r-rright?
But aaaaanon, you don't haaaaave to, it's all to donaaaaate to the prooooject.
it really isnt that impressove compared to some 1-3 year old games especially not graphically
i think the scope is impressive thats about it
rate things are going its not gonna be out until 2020+
I got my refund the other day. I only spent $50 for it but glad I no longer have ties to it. The community is like a rampant cult and is nothing but a scam that years overdue and years away from release. The money CIG are spending on elaborate sliding doors could be spent on hiring temp dev staff or something. We know their toxic community does all the marketing for them, thats for sure.
Out of those 5 years, roughly 3 were spend on doing Persistent Universe only. This is a separate Single Player game Squadron 42, and only the presentation was done in pre-alpha stage, as the game development state is actually quite further down in the pipeline right now (not beta or anything like that, but definitely solid Alpha now).
Yes, Star Citizen in overall is now being developed for roughly 5 years. You, consoleshit poorfags could never grasp the grandeur that is EXCLUSIVE PC GAMING.
P.S.
Fate/Stay Night is garbage.
And people think this is normal and continue to throw money at it. Suckers.
So I skimmed through the entire gameplay section, is the first example of FPS gameplay they've release seriously a mission where a white male rescues a kidnapped, beat-up minority female from evil space pirates? Does CIG think StarCuck fans are that desperate and lonely that they will be drawn to this horribly cliched writing? Holy fuck how can you be making a game in 2k17 and have a blunder this bad... lmfao
Star Citizen's donating/pay model at the current time is basically exactly same as Cemu's Patreon and release model: you don't have to pay for almost anything, but the option is always there if you feel like buying something, but in the end after the game goes gold everything will be free for anyone to unlock as at the current time the only thing people are paying for is literal "early adoption", the "trying-out" of the upcoming content. After game releases, you could get it as anyone else, without any payments with real money. Yes, some things will be hard to get, undoubtedly, but the option to do so itself will be always there nonetheless. There's no "pay-to-win" and there will be no microtransactions with real money of any kind in the final game, only in-game currencies.
>what is pre-alpha
>implying Wing Commander's voices/acting are bad
and what the fuck is with the dialogue choice voice? sounds like a pilotredsun video
Still absolutely fucking boring.
If I wanted that kind of FPS mechanics and fight spess sheeps with a single other buddy I'd go play Call of Duty.
What I wanted was... Arma in space. But I probably was asking for too much.
no wing commander and starship troopers tier is GREAT
everything else however is very... underwelming, alot of the character assets and faces look 2012-2013 rubber plastic tier and all metal looks like wet rubber, not a visually impressive game at all especialyl since we've been waiting 5+ years for it now
Graphically its just not impressive, that said as long as the gameplay is solid i wouldnt mind at all.
>Does CIG think StarCuck fans are that desperate and lonely that they will be drawn to this horribly cliched writing?
yes they are, they are literal autists after all
>it really isn't that impressive compared to some 1~3 year old games, especially not graphically
>pre-alpha
>literally 2% of content, including graphics
>he seriously tries to shit on fucking pre-alpha, when this said pre-alpha looks better than 99.82% of modern AAA shit in "beta" or "early access" state nowadays
>pre-alpha
I will be very surprised if there are any meaningful changes to the finished product.
Pre alpha is a proof of concept, not a playable demo.
Then again, it would have to be released at all for this to matter.
Also, ths is Infinite Warfare tier with a little more exploration. Nothing groundbreaking.
>So I skimmed through
You really should watch it thoroughly, you stupid fag.
>vertical slice
>hey we finished one level with minimal space combat and no big ships fighting
>framerate is terrible on probably a super powerful PC
>it will be done soon we promise
(I still watch all the youtube videos. About to watch the director's commentary version with my coffee)
Let me make something clear: If this "pre-alpha" doesn't look THAT impressive now, then time will do it no favors.
SC is about to fall into the DNF trap: You're developing for too long while everyone else moves on and starts from clean, future tech projects. By the time you're out, AAA has moved way past this, even if you polish, you can't polish out the years of new tech coming out before then.
Peoples time is a bit too valuable to waste so much of it.
>ArmA in space
Battlecruiser 3000 A.D. already exists, famalam. Now go and """""play""""" it. DO IT, FAGGOT.
>If this "pre-alpha" doesn't look THAT impressive now, then time will do it no favors.
This
Sup Forums doesnt seem to understand
this game looks dated now and it will forever because at its core its from 2013 or earlier
Plus the generic art direction doesnt look great with dated ass looking physically based rendering.
>minority female
??
>Battlecruiser 3000 A.D.
Fuck off, I'm not touching a derek smart game. Not even with a 10 meters long pole.
>kike citizen
Fuck off with this shit, drone/shill
So what's the difference between this and Call of Duty?
Lots of scripted walking from point A to B, then some character talking to your face, then more scripts.
Looks bland and generic as fuck.
Cucks will fall for this meme because of the visuals, not realizing that the gameplay itself is bland and generic as fuck
>i-it's pre-alpha!
>after so many years
TOP KEK
>I will be very surprised if there are any meaningful changes to the finished product
If you watch the presentation closely, you will see they don't even turn advanced shadows or PBR on. And we already know these are available, since they've been showing them on Gamescom/CitizenCon. Basically what that video shows, is very low/low in-game settings, the same thing they've recently posted official minimal hardware recommendations for. And those require Win 7 SP1 x64 Bit, at least 16GB of RAM, an i7 2600K at 4.2GHz, with GTX 1050Ti or RX 460. And these are bare minimum to even load the damn thing. In that regard, it's only natural they're making this presentation on the lowest settings applied.
>If this "pre-alpha" doesn't look THAT impressive now
Show me one or two current-time modern games that at THIS state (pre-alpha) look better than Squadron 42. I FUCKING DARE YOU.
that entire video is so devoid of content and world building it couldn't look more like a tech demo if it fucking tried
How's being sued by Crytek coming along?
>the gameplay itself is bland and generic as fuck
It really is.
It really fucking is.
But user it's pre-alpha! You know it's pre-alpha because all the shills are constantly telling everyone it's pre-alpha in their posts. They forget it's been fucking years but somehow it's still considered pre-alpha.
What state is the game in right now?
I forgot. Beta?
Which is ironical, considering that in all honestly and absolutely unironically control scheme and gameplay-wise Battlecruise 3000 A.D. is THE literal "ArmA of Space Sims"...or, rather, "ArmA, if it was Space Sim crossed with Steel Battalion". Do you know many Space Sims which utilize LITERALLY EVERY FUCKING BUTTON ON YOUR KEYBOARD?
Stupid buzzowrds, what the fuck does pre-alpha even mean. Saying something is in alpha or beta has lost most of its meaning.
Pre alpha was chris showing the flying physics 5 years ago on his kikestarter campaign, not this.
>dat buttery smooth 15 FPS when walking through a fucking corridor
Saying something is pre-alpha doesn't mean it's pre-alpha. It's still a scam and will never be finished. How can you look at that video and say "Yeah that was time and money well spent."
FIVE YEARS
F
I
V
E
Most big devs don't show pre-alpha, so I don't know why you're asking me that.
The point stands anyways. If you keep developing for years, your tech is dated at release. Inevintably. You can either keep developing forever and release a shit game after decades, just don't care about being dated and release a dated game, or you can eventually just fucking wrap up and push it out while it's still relevant. The promises of SC make the latter impossible, so one of the former it is. By the time SC releases, it will inevintably be dated - if it ever does.
>Do you know many Space Sims which utilize LITERALLY EVERY FUCKING BUTTON ON YOUR KEYBOARD?
Wow. You are a retard
>Arma is way too complex and has too many buttons for me to understand!
>Battlecruise 3000 too!
>Thus they must be the same!
which one is the game
PLZ dont call them star cucks
we at /sc2/ reserve that honor star crump works as well
>it's been fucking years but somehow it's still considered pre-alpha
It's been 5 years, and out of those 5 years at least 3 were spent on developing ONLY Persistent Universe (NOT Squadron 42), you dumb fuck. This is a separate single player game, not MMO that is Persistent Universe. They didn't show a single sliver of Squadron 42's gameplay up until now. And it looks super-fucking good considering this is in fucking pre-alpha state with just 2% of content inside of the presentation. Grow a pair of fucking balls already, you whiny soyboy cocksucking imbecile. The shit will be fucking AMAZING when it goes goes. Hell, it'll look way better even by the time it hits beta.
>10 minutes of walking simulator
>10 minutes of flying simulator
>2 minutes of actual space combat
>10 more minutes of flying simulator
>cutscenes
>more walking simulator
>finally some shitty combat and 2007 tier stealth mechanics!!!!
401042246
>inb4 people fall for this b8
Sup Forums is always wrong, so i’m Confident this will turn out pretty good
>what the fuck does pre-alpha even mean
Most rawest build, less than 5% of game's content, but still a working build nonetheless, usually made for presentation purposes only.
why don't you just play dota like all the other /pcmasterrace/ fags? it is a REALLY good game
its not fps thats the problem its a nice 30fps its the frametimes and stutters thats the problem
you just got (You)ed by
This is an automated message. I am a bot.
good bot.
>It's not the FPS, it's all the things that lower FPS
It literally says so. It's pretty bad as a "business" model, but it's still one level better than lootboxes, imo. At least people are donating to something they're genuinely excited for.
this, it looked good, but the gameplay will be trashy spent "AAA" in the finished thing, it it's finished.
What it REALLY means is that they have no game and instead they spent the last 6 months cobbling together a scripted "proof of concept". By saying "pre-alpha" they can dismiss the final game not existing at all, or not having any of the content they showed in it. It's legal insurance and very suspicious behavior. Remember they already made a fake scripted demo with a sand worm time ago.
tfw star citizen got cucked by call of duty of all games
go watch digital foundry fps analysis videos mate
>smooth 24fps > stuttery 30-60fps
This is the best they could do with all that money...? disappointing
...
>pre-alpha
are you actually retarded or do you think frame skips dont exist?
it's pre pre alpha get it right
I know how hard it is to hire people that are willing to bust their ass to develop this cancerous game on a horrible engine that shouldn't have been used in the first place but the way they've thrown around thousands of dollars in the past just makes me question their entire company.
how the fuck can a game be pre alpha for over 6 years?
november 2014

What's the difference between Star Citizen and Squadroon gay
>Pre-alpha was Chris showing the flying physics 5 years ago on his kickstarter campaign
No, that wasn't even a pre-alpha, as it wasn't a playable build. That was just a machinima video made in-engine (back then CryEngine), Literally a machinima and nothing more. Since then they've been working strictly only on Persistent Universe up until recently, and now they're finally fully working on Squadron 42 too, which is presentation is a pre-alpha state build of. The kickstarter video was just exactly that and nothing else - an in-engine video. Unplayable, scripted as fuck. Machinima. Now both Persistent Universe and Squadron 42 are in a playable state - PU being currently in Alpha 3.0 and Squadron 42 being in pre-alpha at presentation and Alpha at this very moment inside the studio. No one denies the development of Star Citizen project moves slowly, but you cannot deny the fact it moves nonetheless. Considering the quality and scale they're aiming at, I sincerely don't get why you people are so buttmad about it taking so long, as this is clearly a project that requires vast amounts of time and manpower to be made well. It's being developed for 5 years now, and such grandiose projects usually take anywhere from 8 to 10 and more. Hell, GTA V's development started IMMEDIATELY after San Andreas gone gold, and that one came out in 2004! The same year Chris Roberts released Freelancer, BTW FYI. And Star Citizen is a literal "Freelancer the way it was meant to be done and played, Freelancer 2.0". So let him do it, I say. Freelancer was fucking amazing EVEN though it was cut and unfinished as fuck. And NOW Chris has all the money, men/women and time on his hands to FULLY realize all of his potential. And potential he has aplenty alright.
it was pre pre pre alpha before that dumbass
star citizen is a furry mmo, squadron 42 is wing commander 5
I admit your defeat, alright. Better luck next time, kid.
Not sure if you're just copying delusional posts from Reddit but this level of autism deserves a (you)
whats before pre pre pre alpha?
Nice non-argument. At least you tried. Now go, run back to mommy.
they spent at least 1 year on double precision physics and 2 years on procedural planets. now they're gonna spend another year on procedural cities.
none of it is going to add anything to the game they couldn't have done with instances. enjoy your 100000 square kilometers of empty desert, just like in elite.
>start at 27:10
>it's another video of not gameplay
let me know when you're not delusional
OK I'll bite you fucking soypucci.
>On may 2017 crowdfunding surpassed 150 million $
So 2% of this fantasy costs 150000000$
The entire game will then cost: 7500 000 000 or 7.5 billion USD.
Unless they cure cancer I don't see how anyone could be impressed by this product.
This is all MMO, the Persistent Universe. And this is all literal "early adoption" options, for those who want to play the game in the state it's right now. Those who'll play it after it goes gold, will be able to obtain/use all of this content for free, no real money payments, only in-game currency purchases OR quest/mission accomplishment. It's LITERALLY the way how Cemu is being distributed right now - Patreon payers get new version of Cemu emulator 2 weeks before everyone else, but 2 weeks later free open version comes out which anyone can download and use freely, and it's same content/features-wise as the one Patreon payers got 2 weeks prior. With Star Citizen it's literally same thing - as long as the game is in Alpha/Beta stage you can pay all you want to use ships/items etc. right now, while it's Alpha/Beta, but after it goes gold and anyone will be able to connect - everything will be free off real money payments. It literally only depends on if you're wanting to play it here right now, or you can wait until it goes gold.
>muh pre-alpha
it's a vertical slice. that means a single mission they've selected to focus all efforts on polishing up to "finished" quality. it shows how they want the game to be for marketing purposes, sets the bar for the rest of production, and helps them flesh out the process for how to do the rest of the game.
this is final quality. but it's highly likely that chris will have another autistic fit and rework everything again to satisfy his fidelity autism, undoing everything they've accomplished with this demo. literally duke nukem forever.
>will be free for everyone to unlock
like tanks in world of tanks are free, or like how darth vader was free in battlefront 2 before the patch.
locked behind 40 hours grind.
I don't play MOBA. At all. I couldn't care less about the genre.
Funnily, they always append: not final product everything may change to these vertical slices. As If anyone is dumb enough to think that this isn't the best they can do.
Considering how much some of those ships cost, this game will make WoT's grind look like a cakewalk.
>made a fake scripted demo with a sand worm time ago
They LITERALLY played it (including glitches and bugs happening DURING it, which is "scriptable" uh-huh, you dumb fuck) on stage, LIVE, translating the shit ONLINE. Will you fucking stop already with that autistic IMBECILITY of yours?
Again - name me just one or two modern current time game in development which looks better than this while in pre-alpha state. I FUCKING DARE YOU AND I ALREADY KNOW YOU CAN'T DO IT, BECAUSE YOU'RE A FUCKING STUPID IDIOT WHO SHITPOSTS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF SHITPOSTING.
lots of scripted demos have been played live at e3 with no actual game. see: halo 2 "earth city" demo.
That's not pre-alpha you mong. Just because they say it is doesn't make it true.
>november 2014

literally a facebook game
A working build with no content is just that, a (nearly finished) contentless game.
Alpha means barebones, and that major feature additions and gameplay changes will follow. It has nothing to do with content.
This is just a game in development hell, you don't get to be in development for 5 years with a fully demo and call it a fucking alpha when all the core features are mostly done and polished even.
Nowadays the word is just a marketing term to give people hope. Like with all those games releasing a beta and seeing thousands of posts on forums that "it's just a beta, it will get better" when in fact nothing significant in the game gets changed at that stage.
>long term memory loss
>I have no argument, so I'll just go full retard and shitpost
>now they're gonna spend another year on procedural cities
They already did. Didn't you watch latest Citizencon?
it was 2 years from they first showed procedural planets until we got a playable tech demo. it's gonna be at least a year before cities shows up in any real capacity.
>i-it's just a beta
>IT'S AN ALPHA SHITLORD
>b-b-but p-pre alpha
>I don't know what it means but stop critizising me
>seamlessly fly from a station and land on a planet
>in a multiplayer game
It's buggy as shit, but holy hell RSI is putting a lot of effort into this scam.
At this rate, they'll release a full game to perpetuate the ruse.
I took this screenshot while searching for a friend who landed on the planet.
elite did it 2 years ago
>all of this pr crap
you need to stop trusting every word they say
