God I loved yakuza 0 so much, Kiwami just didnt do it for me

Same question. I've only played 0 and 1. Both were amazing. Need to play 2 though

I liked 4 because of the multiple characters thing but can see why it turned people off when the story got really, really stupid.

3 felt like it was just going through the motions and I didn't finish 5 so it might have picked up by the end but it just didn't grab me.

To expand on this a little more, I liked the idea of other protagonists since Kiryu keeps wanting out and getting dragged back in for contrived reasons. Akiyama, the friendly neighborhood loanshark, Tanemura, the bent cop looking out for himself and Chinese immigrants, and Taiga, the man locked away for decades that has no place in the modern world, all have hooks that could make for some decent stories.

Taiga was used in 5 but in the same kind of excuse way as Kiryu. I get it, Kiryu's a big draw for these games and I do like him.

Yeah i've read how shitty the stories were, dunno if I should just skip or slog through em with easy difficulty. I love the games but just recently finished 0 and kinda burnt out since I jumped into kiwami instantly

the track at 25:15 doesn't exist anywhere on the internet or OST as far as I can tell. I'm not even certain it's on the disc since it's a cutscene only track. There's a couple other tracks like this too, such as the one with kiryu and nishiki in the forest. I've been looking for these tracks ever since I finished the game and I'm still no closer to finding them.

not him, but i dislike it because of all the mundane backtracking, it know its a ps2 game coated with better graphics but that shit was annoying

4 has a video The Story So Far mode that recaps 3 you could probably find ripped onto youtube. 3 also suffers from being the first one on the PS3 and they were finding their legs.

That was Kenzan, which definitely was the devs figuring out how to get the game to work on the new console.

there's a lot of baffling OST release decisions this series has made over the years. The number of amazing tracks they leave unreleased each year is staggering. Hell, in 0 alone nearly all the substory music isn't officially released, along with any of the tracks playing in stores, or random BGM that plays around towns.

The opening is worse than Bubble though.

Do you guys think they purposely made Majima's section more dramatic to play, and his styles superior, as a major draw point for this game?

I can't understand shit to the business mode in yakuza 0, but I loved kiwami, 0, 3 and 4 (this last one was kind of boring with the last cop character)

I thought Kiryu had better substories and more "hot-blooded" moments in the story. All the stuff with Nishiki and Tachibana was pretty memorable all in all I thought.

I think Cabaret Club > Real Estate and that Majima had better boss fights but that's all, and that's coming from someone who was more interested in the Majima side and doesn't mind that they're giving him all this backstory (I know a lot of people here don't like that, personally I prefer the Majima we have here and in 4, and I don't get the appeal of wacky memester Majima from 1/2/3/Kiwami 1 or why he was voted so high in that character poll for Ishin)

That cabaret club grind was the most fun i've had grinding in a video game for a while it was so satisfying

You can literally gain it all back from beating up goons in maybe two fights. Not even that, if you max out everything in the 2 hours it takes for the minigame, you'll be able to make nearly two billion ¥ every seven minutes from the real estate.

Majima's business minigame is more interactive, but the only one that you can legitimately lose in.

Yeah, it's involved enough to not be boring, not too long, and you have built-in sub-stories with the Platinum Hostesses too. They did a pretty good job of it, looks like Hokuto Ga Gotoku might have something similar to it which I'm looking forward to, these devs are mad men.

Sweet, it was really fun, from the music to figuring out the hand gestures(dunno if those were mentioned, but i forgot them and had to figure them out myself) everything was so satisfying

I heard they cut tons of shit/ just left it out from Kiwami 2 because they only did things with assets they could reuse from 6. Kinda sad
