>Turning on Silent Hill 4
>Ever
All jokes aside, it really is a shame that KCET's last hurrah was rushed out the door when it was pretty blatantly unfinished; it looks worse than Silent Hill 3 (and 2, to be frank) and the game in general lacks the attention to detail that the team was known for.
Henry was probably the most relatable character in a video game for me, though.
Who here liked SH4?
why? she can't die AND she can actually fight.
HEY KID
It rehashes the environments, and forces players into combat more often. Not to mention that SH4 wasn't good up until that point
Have to protect her or else she gets bloody and breaks out into fits of retard chest beating that damage you. Also good endings depend on her not being damaged when you encounter the final boss.
It actually had many details, it has the most memorable Easter eggs and nods to the series for me, but it lacked actual level design, how could they recycle the same shit twice but now with annoying ghosts
Not saying that it lacked detail, I'm saying it lacked the attention to detail in comparison to the trilogy, specifically 2 and 3. Mostly just coming off of high standards.
I like her butt.
SH3 is probably the best looking game on PS2.
It is. Fun fact, SH3 was also made on 3 million dollars by 13 people in 18 months. What the fuck was Konami giving them if they couldn't stretch a dollar like they did on that game?
>prevents you from running away from enemies (can't transition through doors if she isn't close to Henry)
>goes into fits where she babbles in demonic tongues
she's only worth having around once you unlock the nurse outfit
The trailer for this game is the scariest shit I've ever seen
m.youtube.com
This legit scarred me as a kid and I couldn't touch anything horror related until I tried Alien Isolation
Went back and played 4 and its kind of a shame how it doesn't live up to the literal nightmare of a trailer it had
If it had even one year longer in the oven, it would have. This really should be the poster child of how publisher meddling can kill games.
...
I remember playing it on PC several years after release and I was still blown away by the graphics
The games is fucking beautiful and it has the best girl
holy shit I can imagine being absolutely terrified as kid for watching this
Do NOT play the PS3 versions! They are fucking awful, and literally broken too.
And do play them in RELEASE ORDER.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" is a all-in-one fix, that works as a no-cd crack as well. It is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW fix mentioned in the guide, you can use the sh2proxy's EXE as the no-cd crack!
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.
If SH3 runs like shit even on a strong PC, check and lower the Rendering Resolution setting.
SH2-4 do not support Xinput gamepads. Either use Xpadder, a DirectInput pad, or just play with KB+M.
You can now see some decent emulator settings for SH1 as well in the guide. If the image of the game does NOT fill your entire screen in fullscreen mode, check your plugin AND GPU control panel's image scaling settings!
Also give the new PGXP emulator a shot for a lot less wobbly PS1 graphics.
>General protips:
-PLAY IN RELEASE ORDER, starting with SH1!
-Never play below Normal difficulty.
-Replaying each game multiple times is recommended.
-Don't try to kill everything, especially outdoors.
-Turn OFF flashlight. It helps.
>-PLAY IN RELEASE ORDER, starting with SH1!
This is the best way to experience it, though if you really want to you can play it in the order of 2,1, 3, and then 4. Don't recommend it, but it's possible.
That's what you did?
Me? No, my friend who just got into the series did it with the trilogy. He's a big fan now.
Your friend.
Yeah, we're going to play Silent Hill 4 next week.
I never got the love for 2, 1 was scary for me but 2 just felt depressing, with James and the characters interactions.
>1 was scary for me but 2 just felt depressing
That;s why people love it. It's one of the best uses of video games as a storytelling medium. Silent Hill 1 and especially 3 are better horror games, but the characters and themes of Silent Hill 2 are great.
Frankly, all of the trilogy were great in this regard. 2 is also the most accessible, since it doesn't go into a lot of mystical stuff.
I dunno, sometimes It looks to me people only like SH because they started with 2
The "cult is dumb" shitters, for sure.
>Henry was probably the most relatable character in a video game for me, though.
How? He had no characterization whatsoever.
das the joke
Henry is legit autistic, has shit fashion sense, is clumsy looking, and can't talk to girls or people in general.
He's /ourguy/
