all this game did was reveal that P3 and P4 fans have absolutely shit taste
I never played it but man those people look weird
Dunno I’m playing it now and loving it
>most casualized, railroaded, dumbed-down persona game to date
>too SMT
yeah...
no groo redemption arc
None of the characters are realistic enough for the plot to work. The Phantom Thieves never question the ethics of brainwashing criminals into being obedient law abiding drones.
Nothing. It's just P3/P4 with style and a few returning SMT elements. Great sequel to the series all things considered. I aprreciated that the main dungeons were not just procedurally generated but a few of them dragged on for way too long with their gimmicms. The story also could have been better.
This 100%
also none of the phantom thieves are fully realized characters or even interesting people.
also they are needlessly vindictive and merciless and nobody seems to address this
There's one thing about Goro I don't understand. If he's an outcast of society, then how did get a job that provides a gun? Adachi in P4 points out that guns in Japan are hard to get, top the point that people join the force to have one.
He'll be in every spin off.
t. redditor
I bet P5 was really cool for your first Persona game, huh.
He stole it from the guard in the room.
just started the game but im having fun
a few things annoy me about pacing
first palace was fantastic, you had a ton of build up, a reason to hate the big bad, and plenty of character progression
im on floor two of the second palace and.. its just not as good
it looks worse aesthetically (though it has less copy pasta) and the story behind it feels so lacking, even mementos feels better in that regard
i just cant buy this dude is really bad man he made some kid enter in a contract he coulda dropped at any time but someone committed suicide
its such a big step down
also any tips for keeping up in levels? im making sure to keep around 5 or so personas of a reasonable level for access to all elements + buffs and of course fusing when i can but normal feels too easy and in hard I just get one shot even with the best armor available
It's literally just Persona 4 again (which was also worse than 3).
Even if he's an outcast, he's forcibly played the part of a successful detective without anyone knowing any better. No one knows he's broken.
Seriously fuck this character. What were they thinking?
Get ready, the dungeon storylines take a nosedive hard after the 2nd one into absolute shit tier. The pyramids are the only decent one.
>went wrong
>literally GOTY
I beat Kamoshida's dungeon months ago and I'm too unmotivated to keep playing. HELP.
This cat won't let me do shit also.
Because Shido obviously pulled some strings.
>muh style
P4G had more style without being so cringeworthy
It's still a shitty spinoff of mainline SMT for kids.
Forced style that made no sense and was never reflected in the game.
How? The game prided itself on being a feel-good, kitschy retread of the P4 whodunnit. P5 was a mess that didn't know what it was besides "lol fuck adults amirite?"
>p4
>style
but literally none of it mattered
the whole idea of TVs hours in was just a means to an end for teleportation
it didnt really matter and neither did the raining stuff
What is it about Kamoshida that make him such a good character compared to the rest of the targets?
>prided
That's the fucking problem. It slapped on this endless high school hijinks stuff on top of what should've been a horrifying and unsettling scenario; a serial murder case in the small town you were staying in, with the victims being placed unnaturally. It's a horrible mishmash that causes a stupid amount of dissonance and completely takes away from the plot.
It's fucking Persona though. It's not supposed to take itself too seriously. That's why P5 looked like such an abortion with its pseudo-grimdark bullshit and teen angst.
>what is persona 1-3
P5 and P4 are the least grimdark in the franchise.
>P5
>pseudo-grimdark
>teen angst
Where?
They are, but keep in mind that they dropped the SMT name with P4 though.
Because he was personal.
They've dropped the SMT name before with the first 2 personas as well.
lol
Literally the last third of the game was a slog. I didn't mind everything up until the boat but even despite the boat dungeon design the ending was predictable and slogged on with the last two segments and basically rehashed the end of P3 and P4 again.
Haru also came in too late and there needed to be more downtime days and less forced "go to sleep" days during story events that don't lead to actual cutscenes or VR scenes because that shit was fucking stupid.
Other then that I really enjoyed it, best gameplay in the series, best dungeon design and best aesthetics but it fell for the shortfalls of the series.
It won a game award
>Shitposting is just objective lies now
Shit, they thought about it CONSTANTLY to a fault despite being shown it's an easy out every time.
And P4G's stylistic bits literally don't matter if they were anything different like Dark Hour or an alternate dimension. Meanwhile, even the random generated dungeon in P5 is a design that perfectly symbolizes the "story of passerbys" dynamic narratively.
>Meanwhile, even the random generated dungeon in P5 is a design that perfectly symbolizes the "story of passerbys" dynamic narratively.
it's not on a particular fisher price tablet so Sup Forums has to shit on it for trivial reasons.
Tell me I'm wrong.
>Just realized I've been here since Sup Forums calling all people in Persona 4 threads Fatlus
It was true then and it's true now
I meant that none of the characters look or acted like rebels. They're all designed like fashionable yuppies and obey the laws, otherwise Joker should be free to bang all the women without getting in trouble.
normies are wowed by muh graffix. And game journalists are trying to compensate for never having tried the series until the fifth entry by mindlessly showering it with praises.
The complaints about Haru, Morgana, the boat, Hawaii, and Okumura Foods are legitimate though.
>you shouldn't be allowed to form an opinion on a game until you've played every previous game in the series
Because besides Morgana, the other three characters at the time all had a personal grudge against him.
>Spread rumors about Joker's delinquency throughout the school before he even got there, which stuck with him his entire duration at Shujin Academy and made his time there harder than it had to be. And then threatened to get him expelled.
>Broke Ryuji's leg and destroyed the track team he loved so much, and basically made him the vulgar delinquent everyone else hated.
>Tried to turn Ann into his personal sex toy. Ended up raping her best friend instead when he got tired of her refusing to put out.
Gaming Journalists got into the series around the third entry. P5 was made in reaction to all the criticisms of characters in P4 conforming to the status quo instead of rebelling against it.
Nintenbros could have P5 if they'd give Sony SMT V
No Atlus game has ever needed a remake more than this one. Just give me a Persona 5 Portable/Golden on Switch or Vita Atlus.
Having a working knowledge of the series certainly helps. I don't think anyone would argue that P5 is better than P3 who's played both.
>they don't look like rebels
Because they're only supposed to look that way in the Metaverse, and even then the outfits are based on what they think a rebel or a theif looks like.
As for acting like rebels, what good would it do for them to get caught up with the law for doing dumb shit?
except for tons of anons doing that in literally every persona thread we have
It certainly plays better.
The boat dungeon was by far the worst fucking thing I'd played in a while.
Those stupid fucking mouse puzzles were awful. And not even in the "This is too hard" way. But in the "Holy shit this is so goddamn boring stop making me back track how many more of these are they going to make me do Jesus Christ can we please be done now this shit is getting tedious" way.
The actual Shido fight was pretty cool, though.
>It's way the game is designed forces you to do all the 'side' stuff (and most of it isn't very good)
>Menu navigation is slow (albeit stylish)
>You pretty much are forced to fight almost every enemy in the palaces
>Palace 5 and 7 were horribly designed and gruelingly slow
>The combat starts to feel repetitive midway through
>plenty of cutscenes and dialogue that add nothing to the overall narrative other than to kill time or point something out you already know
These were all the problems I had and it bogged the game down for me.
This. I really don't hate the game, I just don't think it's worthy of all its praise in its current state.
I'd argue for P5 > P3. Fuck Tartarus.
Forgot to add:
>Mementos is Tartarus 2.0
Suffer consequences of their actions. No government would allow a bunch of teenagers with the power to brainwash people wander around the streets left uncheck.
>projecting retard wojak post
Why does Sup Forums bitch about reddit then love doing reddit humor? These would be permabanned on sight 5 years ago.
Japan isn't Amsterdam, you dumbass.
Did you not pay attention to the plot points and ignore they're in a society where even the slightest provocation can fuck you over, even if it was an accident and the person is wrong?
That's LITERALLY the thing that causes the story in the first place.
More like Tartarus 0.5
So is this game getting a PC release or do i have to emulate it?
Eh, I won't argue with that. Main point still gets across.
They weren't unchecked. If it wasn't for Akechi's sadism they all would have been murdered.
>I'm an oldfag guise trust me
Fuck off, fanboy
emulate
>PC release of Persona
>Don't call my shitting up the board with cancer "shitting up the board with cancer".
No seriously, give a fucking excuse.
What makes it any different from ragefaces other that you like it? There's no humor, no joke, no wit, and all you have to do to make people laugh is be a reference.
Too derivative of P4 as well as having certain parts of it felt rushed or gimped in one way or another, like the time between Futaba's and Okumura's Palaces. It did a lot more right than it did wrong though and is the best Persona and one of the better MegaTen games in my eyes because of it.
P3 > P5 > P4 > Nobody played the other two Persona games just play SMT lmao
I would in nearly every regard. The only things P3 does better are its ending and arguably its music.
You mean absolutely poor taste.
Also it just revealed that P3 and P4 are old as fuck. P3 especially is near unplayable its so bad.
This but minus any ironic intent
What are you rambling about? You sounded like a brainlet, so you were called out on it. Stay mad :)
Game nosedived at the pyramid
if im gonna play a persona game its gonna be the second one
How bad could it be? I'm playing SMT Nocturne rn and the combat is really snappy and enjoyable.
100% agreed. That dungeon was the start of my boiling point for this game. Okumura's was shit but this one was just plain frustratingly bad.
I agree the boss fight was good too. I'm a fan of "this isn't even my final form" kind of bosses. Kinda reminded me of Armstrong from MGR.
And I REALLY loved the music in that fight:
youtube.com
I've been listening to it nonstop since I finished the game yesterday.
good luck, the combat interface and random encounter rate make the game damn near unplayable. plus the fucking camera is retarded.
Nocturne is actually better than every Persona game and I recommend you just skip Persona entirely tbqhwu familia
Japan had multiple instances of rebellions in their history. There was the student rebellion in the 60s, and Yukio Mishima's failed coup against the JDSF in the 70s.
It's shame that Okumura's palace didn't have a good boss fight to make it worth something.
>Castles got increasingly worse as time went on
Space ship level sucked at the end, the cruise liner only had the OST going for it
>HEY GO TO BED EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THE WHOLE EVENING
so fucking annoying when trying to build stats up
>leveling social ranks was a bit annoying moreso than P4
Hey let's hang out! btw there will be no advantage in doing so other than a cutscene of no voices at some dumb place
>reforcing in the MC to meet the final boss without any question that he would be cool
Adachi was it done right, P5 dropped the ball hard on trying to shove in the evil adults
Also like you knew he was evil from before he got into your party, to use him for one mission, then throw him away.
When I first met him I was like damn dis nigga the evil guy
Then he joins I was like damn he good?
then the whole pancake thing happens
yeah trash
which dungeon was randomly generated?
He directly interacted with the characters in a non forceful shoehorned in way. Everyone else just kept feeling worse and worse, and "how the actual fuck does this person relate"
Why was that one girl who's dad was an ultra rich and important CEO going to what was always portrayed as a school of rejects?
>>which dungeon was randomly generated?
momentos?
The characters were weak as fuck, both on the hero and villians sides. Once the dungeon that related to them were over most of the main cast disappeared into the background, never to come back into relevance. The only two that really stayed relevant past their dungeons were Futaba and Makoto. Certain characters got it worse than others. Haru might as well not exist after she opens a door for you.
The other games avoided this by having a lot of event where the group would hang out with one another in the story, which was sorely missing in P5 and you could feel it.
>get tired of doing all the confidants after Shido's palace
>figured that was the last dungeon and I really wanted to see the ending
>decide to just go straight to bed every day until the plot picks up again
>all those scenes of your rank 10 confidants I missed out on
>those goodbye dialogues I missed out on
>only got to see Makoto, Ann, Takemi, Kawakami, and DameTora's scenes
>could have had many more if I wasn't impatient
Fuck me, I screwed up.
you cant fuck both
Don't worry, Ann is best girl.
Haru was a rich girl rebelling against daddy's wishes to marry her off to some rich douche who had lots of girlfriends. It was arranged so that the Ultra Rich CEO can make more money. She's not like Mitsuru, who sacrifices a normal life to atone for her father's sins.
do you actually fuck girls in persona games? is it like hot coffee is san andreas?
oh yeah. mementos never felt like a dungeon to me, completely forgot about it
>implying p3 and p4 and railroaded and casual as fuck
They're very different in how they play. Persona is built more around trying to drain you of your resources so each outing into a dungeon isn't a question of how long you'll survive, it's a question of how far can you get wihtout having to end the outing, and you want to cover as much ground as possible in any given outing because you want to have as much freetime as possible to make yourself stronger and more able. Nocturne's just a pure dungeon crawler so it has a completely different approach towards the combat and dungeon crawling that isn't really comparable to Persona. However, two things that are comparable to JRPGs in general in P3 that drag it down are the godawful dungeon design which make the dungeon crawling a miserable experience, and the fact that your party members aren't playable and you just have to give them orders to follow. It was an artistic choice to make the characters feel more like individuals who can make their own decisions, but it was a very poor decisions that only brought the game down and made the combat even less fun, in my eyes.
How bad is P2's encounter rate compared to SMT1? I can handle a bad encounter rate if it's on the level of Nocturne, but I don't want to go through another fight every single step like SMT1 again anytime soon.
The most lewd thing you do in Persona is kiss, and even that's only for sluts like Ann.
I'm so glad I didn't bother playing this shit, I knew it was a meme high school sim for virgins. Glad I bought Nier instead.
