I remember there being some fun boss fights but the level design was subpar.

YOU

post more best girl

Portrait of Ruin was what I preferred

the actual castle was garbo

...

I want to kiss Shanoa's back

I want to protect her non-smile

I was hoping for a switch port for Portrait of Ruin. I think it'll fit amazing in it, especially with a co-op system.

Does anyone have a link to a good download of the Akumajo Dracula Tribute albums? I'm biased against khinsider.

Top Tier:
Order of Ecclesia

High Tier:
Circle of the Moon

Mid Tier:
Portrait of Ruin
Harmony of Dissonance

Low Tier:
Aria of Sorrow
Dawn of Sorrow

Shit Tier:
Symphony of the Night

is this a bait thread

I had hope 3ds would have as much castlevanias and fuck

I want to ________ Shanoa

vgmuseum.com/mrp/multi/mp3s6.htm

Are they the ones on this page?

Shanoa is underrated

its sad how the gba and ds castlevanias were looked down on because they weren't as good as sotn.
honestly when you go back now they're some of the best games on the systems.

marry

Almost all of them were better than SOTN.
Symphony is mpre well regarded just because it's the first and was more mainstream

STUPID DISCIPLE

HOW DARE

Portrait of Ruin has the best fucking soundtrack. You know it to be true.

Worthless contrarian opinion. SotN has much more care and detail than the DS games, which are also great, but lack the magic of SotN.

SOTN has way higher production values than any mobilevania but POR and OOE are both genuinelly better GAMES.
SOTN's second half is ruined by the leveling system, Alucard is so ridiculously powerful you just start drifting because of the absolute lack of danger or challenge.

>Greatest Castlevania ever
>not a classicvania

The inverted castle was kind of a lazy cop-out to pad out the length of the game. Navigating some of the areas there is very annoying because you're constantly having to use bat transformation or super jump, and those hadn't been perfected yet, so they were awkward to use. Super jump requires you to use up your double jump first and eats up mana. Bat transformation has a long pause during the actual transformation animation. And for some reason, the bat dash takes you out of bat form at the end, even if you have plenty of mana.

Compare that to AoS, where the bat transformation is instant, the speed as a bat is just as fast, if not faster, and there's a dedicated button for super jump, and it doesn't take up mana. The areas are also better designed around your abilities.

Every GBA/NDS game flows much better.

>no lament of innocence

>Exploration game
>Linear maps.

JONATHAN!

MY SHANOA.

Yeah. Looks like there's some other neat things I've missed on that page, too. Thanks.

>use up your double jump first

You could immediately do the SOTN super jump from the ground.

Not to my knowledge

Yeah, but then if you want to do another in the air, you have to use the double jump first.

> no tattoo

?

Down, up, jump.

>Greatest Castlevania ever.
Agree. Order of Ecclesia is the best.

Beaten all of/most of the Castlevanias up until Aria of Sorrow, which I'm currently playing.

Love the games. Just wanted to post about it.

Circle of the moon was the best castlevania fite me

YOU. EVEN FORGETTING

Eh, in hindsight, it wasn't that good. A lot of levels without bosses.

THe shitty wii fighitng game killed the franchise

I'm replaying to right now. It has too many flaws to be regarded as the best, but it's not as bad as people say it is.

HOD

I never got passed the crab boss thing in the tower. I tried 7 times and I just stopped caring.

Fucking casual.

isn't that the third boss
I only had trouble with the dude with the gun

My absolute nigger.

>nobody's posted III yet
This is why Sup Forums is trash. None of you have taste.

t. /vr/

MAX SHOT! OPTICAL SHOT! MAX SHOT!

Worst Castlemania.

>III
>Not Akumajou Densetsu for the superior soundtrack
Come on bud

Does anyone feel like the Chronicles monster Dracula is the best version, but his teleporting form beforehand is worst of that style?

Meant "the worst of that style", sorry. Also, I mean X68000 Chronicles, not DXC.

Albus did nothing wrong!

Nah I just pirated the game and didn't really appreciate it. I was looking for a reason to put it down I think. I just didn't care enough to keep trying.

Patrician taste
Learn something from these type of men, kiddos
youtube.com/watch?v=Gm9KIo8O-YM

not him but CV3 is better, sans music, than the 2-easy Akumajou Densetsu. Grant in JPN is chump-mode.

Then just do a Trevor only run like a man

Man I bought this when I was on my Castlevania/vampire craze and while the level design sucked I really loved it. I should finish it sometime.

I WILL KILL YOU

AND THE NIGHT

not the point. The damage-scaling in CV3 is ultimately better, even if it is less forgiving. IIRC Konami's devs tweaked and rebalanced CV3 from AD, so it wasn't like some american localizer fucking around - they consciously removed Grant's knife spam and adjusted enemy damage, which I think made the game better.

I mean, if you prefer Akumajou that's fine. Both versions are great.

I'm not the guy you were replying to i'm just saying that a trevor only run is the only way to play CV3
Any version

Albus shouts different names for his attacks during the boss fight, but goddamn his playable mode is fun

nah I am a casual so I spam Sypha Thunder to cheese Death and Drac.

Metroidvania soyboys acting like they have taste...

Does nobody ever go with Alucard

Its a good game except the level design is linear trash, too many stages are just long hallways, even the castle isn't very good

>the I've had enough of your shit stare

Gameplay-wise, absolutely. I'll take glyphs over soul farming any day. Union is a bit shallow, but fun.
Now level design, like many point out, is a fucking hallway. It's pretty much impossible to get lost and I manage to do that in all other vanias.

>Shitting someone else's taste
>Proceeds to post a mediocre Classicvania

How dare you...

Once you found the Gravity Boots, of course.

I do.

>I am the Morning Sun, come to vanquish this horrible night!
Shanoa is unironically my favorite Castlevania protag.

The GBA/DS games were just as good as SOTN was desu, the only thing they lacked was the sheer number of crazy combinations with stuff like the shield rod.

He's fun to play as, but his offensive capabilities are terrible in CV 3. In addition to his pitiful damage output, the game often glitches and won't load some of the fireballs he shoots, and might even fail to load any of them.

Unf.

Is it wrong that I enjoyed that game? It was a fun Soul Calibur clone....some of the designs (Simon and Grant) were just awful and I think that's what killed it for people

Simon = Going for that Siegfried audience.
Grant = Going for that Voldo audience.

I haven't had a chance to play it but that Grant design is pretty gnarly. BUT it's not good ol' pirate Grant, which is what I'm sure is really the issue.

Yes. The wasn't even close to be a SC clone. Just a shitty attempt of a "party" fighter.

The NDS connect feature was cool as well as Eric. Alucard was OP.

Over the past two months I've been playing GBA and DS Castlevania on and off, now is it me or did shit just went out on grinding incentives since it went on the DS? DoS had the weapon crafting mechanic and multiple soul levels for their abilities, PoR had a quest system you have to go out of your way of to resolve most of them (including masteries), and OoE for some reason can go up to Lv255 (if you unlock it) on top of that attribute system.

I mean, SotN by comparison was only more anal about map % for the ending and you didn't really need to farm Crissaegrim, in AoS you just worried about souls, and HoD didn't have anything to really worry about unless you really want to minmax like that shop with the Lv50 items. So what happened?

>Casualvania IV

This game was so damn good.

Had some great bosses and quite possibly the best final one in the whole franchise.

Fair. Harmony of Dissonance is shit tier though wih Aria and Dawn being high tier.

Is OoE the only game where Dracula actually walks during the boss fight

WHO RAISED YOU

PoR had great magic

Level 1 Hard really gives you an appreciation for Charlotte, fuck killing Legion with Jonathan

Even Dullahan is a pain without Rock Riot.

i wonder if jonathan and charlotte ended up shacking up

I wished she jobbed against dracula and become his vampire mistress. a nice alternate ending

>i get better at the game over time
>must be casual
not an argument soyboy

Why doesn't Whip Memory like cream pies

>liking the garbage that ruined castlevania
Castlevania was a well respected series until SotN came along.

GREATEST. MEGALOVANIA. EVER.

Get out of here genesis faggot IV was better than the New Generation in every single way

>not ludovania

>That one weebshit infested game that ruined the series and manages to be even worse than Dawn of Sorrow
>good

When you talk about the greatest castlevania game you have to pick one from below otherwise your opinion is invalid

III IV SotN RoB (not Dracula X)
