Assuming development started as soon as Samus Returns ended, I think it would take what, 2 and a bit years? So late 2019 the earliest.

Well, they would need to add higher poly models and HD assets in the game plus they would have to rework the HUD so the game can use the inventory, map, and HUD itself on the same screen as the gameplay screen like in the older 2D games. So that could take some time

No, stupid, Nintendo split them off because they're two different gameplay styles so no one can be confused which is which. Why do you think when they have Universe trailer for both 2D Metroid only talk about the 2D games and Prime games only talk about the Prime games. It has nothing to do with your warp interpretation of being shown up as you claim, it's more inline to keep fans of the 2D games or Prime games confused when a game from the other series is talked about.
