thats a separate squishing animation where you get completely flattened . you can catch a glimpse of the OP animation if you somehow only touch the thwomp as its coming down but escape before getting squished
Shame about how it all turned into a giant mobile game for IAPs though.
Wonder how much of this was originally in the game, and how much was added in the next-gen versions
I know a lot of stuff got overhauled in next gen especially because of the new first person mode

the particle effects in general but what's really neato (kind of hard to see in the video) is that the water's surface has a subtle reflection of conker when he jumps over it

The horribly underrated Lego Ninjago Movie game went the extra mile with details and things like the minifigs, models and weapons now feature imperfections, seamlines, fingerprints, chips, dust and even the copyright imprintings on the arms.
Certain character animations also have been tweaked to look like choppy brick animations.
A shame that Marvel Superheroes 2 went back to the shiny simple looks.
I can't look at SM64 pics or videos again without thinking of pannen autism.
