If this is your first MH, it's a slow start, so give it a little more time if it doesn't click immediately. Try all the weapons, each one feels astoundingly different.

I liked them a lot because they gave me an eternal goal, a never-ending carrot-on-a-stick excuse to keep playing. Always something I could hunt to improve my character, even if it was just the tiniest chance. I only noticed just how much GQs added to my 4U playtime when I had crafted a top tier set in Generations and realized that outside of charm farming there was nowhere to go from there.

But it's so hard to get a full set, with a few other people searching I never found my full artian set. Every once in a while I'll grind expeditions to finish it out but it's just so unreliable.

Does the bow have an ''optimal range'' to damage like with bowguns in 3u?any bow tips?

Yep. It's not too close, not too far. The screen will shake when you land a hit at the critical distance. Spend some time with the Bow and standing within that optimal range will be second nature rather than a conscious decision.
When charging and aiming for a relatively stationary target, most Bow users will walk in small, tight circles, and only go into the aiming mode right before firing. This helps the hunter make minute corrections to their distance positioning and stay mobile in case of danger.
Firing uncharged shots is typically abysmal DPS. You really need to aim at weakpoints, especially when spending your precious Power Coatings. Later on and you have more resources, bring materials to combine into more coatings mid-hunt.
