I found the story to be retarded not in a good way. I am not allergic to weebshit and I enjoy investigative games, but I was quite disappointed in this one. But I acknowledge that it is subjective, others seem to praise it.

Never played Ace Attorney. I've played a couple of the Sherlock Holmes games and they were pretty fun, if that helps.

The third one is brainlet fodder with the ending being the only good thing going for it.

I don't understand why people compare Danganronpa to Ace Attorney.
They may be both adventure/VN hybrids but this is where the similarity ends.

Yes, the story is fun as fuck, just leave before getting spoiled, enjoy all 3 main games. (You can play Despair Girls and watch the anime IF you really want, but it's not necessary.)

Just enjoy the ride, is the best advice I can give to someone going in.

At times I felt this game treats players like they are stupid as shit. For the life of me, I couldn't understand does it, really? Or is it on purpose, to make the player feel smarter than he is?
I really liked the first case. Even though the writer railroads you to its showdown, it had good structure and cool foreshadowed twist. Other cases, meh, not so much.

So does literally every other anime game ever created. DR also has an exceptionally retarded plot and fanbase, like literally every thread about it has demonstrated.

These games are a fun ride if you can enjoy them unspoiled

Try it out, and if you enjoy the game and it's style, go through them all (1, 2, and v3) and resist all urges to discuss them until you're finished because you WILL get spoiled by entering any of these threads. Theres already a big spoiler posted but you wouldn't realize it yet so leave now and try it out.

It has a good story with some great twists, writing and dialuges are awful though. Characters are waifubait and fujobait, the first game has some likeable characters though.
If you like murder mysteries and don't hate overused anime tropes, you'll like it. It's starts too slow though

They're both murder mystery/investigation VNs. They're not too similar but if you like one of them, you'll probably like the other one too

Also, if you want to play it, just leave the thread now. Danganronpa has the shittiest fanbase, someone's gonna spoil it for sure

Well, it isn't a v3 image in the op so probably not

i liked it, i played it before like it got all those sequels and everyone had heard of it. it's like a fun mystery kind of game. i played it on vita and playing it for a half hour here and there i came away totally happy with it. i'm glad it blew up, i don't know where they'd really go with it in the sequels so i haven't played those.

I enjoyed it. Not really the best writing and the overall plot is kind of bad, but solving the individual cases is fun and the characters are nice. 1 is the weakest game all around though, from gameplay to cases to characters, so if you feel like it's not quite there then try 2. If you still don't like it then you can stop there, V3 is good but it's more of the same and ultra despair girls is another genre entirely.

Yeah totally, you also have to play it in order to play the sequels that are just as good/better.

The first game is good at least, but 2 is a total shitshow - the cases are full of ass-pull revelations, the cast are total wasted potential and the ending is one of the biggest storytelling disappointments I have ever seen in videogames.
