Because I'm a boring person who roleplay as himself. No seriously, I have a really hard time to play as someone who isn't me. Also, playing as a custom character usually allow maximum customization.

Also, I always play as a human. Scalies ruined lizardmen for me and skeletons are just too memey for me.

I just find it easier to come up with a character concept as opposed to taking over someone else's character. It is probably just all the time I've spent generating characters in tabletop RPGs. The elves look cool, have an interesting background, and I can get bonus lore, so I play as an elf.

Should have made it "Which character/companion is best/most interesting." I enjoy playing a custom character but I still want to say which is best written / least annoying.

That depends on what "class" I'm going for, but Undead is my fav. race in this game. Don't often get the chance to play as a skeleton.

I don't know much about the game, never played the first divinity, but it's on my list.
But I'll probably play as the lizard nigger because he's the one the pops the most when I look at the game. Beside, I think lizard people are cool.

Had to do this too, I was playing a solo lone wolf (because lone wolves don't come in pairs) and teleported him into tent to the south and piled up a load of boxes so he couldn't get out
