rimworld thread
Run out of components
Lmao those batteries are a ticking bomb
>Limited amount of components
>Start building things using them
>BUILD 20 BATTERIES!
>Have 7 Colonists
>Need 2 high research tables
Why do you have two research tables.... twice?
What the fuck is it with the AC and heaters?
so more people can research stuff. The basic ones were set before I got the hightech, didn't feel like removing them yet
currently redesigning my mountainbase
What do you guys think about my R&R room?
Does anyone have a spreadsheet for weapon stats? I have the rimsenal ones but I wanted to check the vanilla weapons like Charged Shot and Assault Rifle.
This shit seems pretty OP.
> FOURTEEN damage per pellet
> four shot burst
> THIRTY SIX fucking range
> 0.9 sec warmup and 0.66 cooldown
fucking furries
That billiard room design os fantastic and I'm so gonna copy that.
>ranged cooldown sub 1 second
>4 14 damage shots with great acuracy
>36 range
Nigger, what are you doing.
Needs statues and shit and flat tv
haha but seriously now guys, I need those fucking components
honest question: how to make raids actually fun?
tried playing without turrets or traps of any kind, just putting colonists behind cover and letting them fire into raiders as they walk up to my base, then having medical beds ready for my colonists to jump into if they get hurt by return fire. its more fun than mindlessly slaughtering waves of enemies who enter your killboxes, but not by much.
bottom line, raids are laughably easy (with or without killboxes) for the majority of the game and then suddenly they become incredibly hard (like mechanoid drop-pods) with no warning or build-up. honestly considered turning them off entirely, since they don't really add much to the game in their current state beyond a phony sense of "challenge", and the shit that happens is already interesting enough without them.
>human leather armchairs
>super comfy Swastika carpet
>megascreen TV
>table made out of pure silver
>Billard table will be replaced through a golden one in the future
fuck wolves
>seems pretty op
>Mfw i have my cybernetic super soldier equipped with a Excellent Barret 1981 Anti-Material Rifle that deals 80 dmg per shot with 60 range and basically erases whatever body part it hits.
Welp
>Spring
>COLD SNAP
>Volcanic Winter
>Zzzzzt
>Solar Flare
Do they get a comfortable penalty for human leather furniture?
Did you use a psychopath to craft it?
first of all, why the FUCK do you have so many batteries?
1 would have been enough. ONE.
YOU HAVE 20.
and you are surprised you ran out of components when you built TWENTY FUCKING BATTERIES.
also your base design is shit:
>stockpile/crops aren't somewhat spread out to avoid fire from destroying everything
>inefficient rooms, both design and placement
>no defense at all, nothing is protected or secured
>coolers are in an area where raiders will easily break them and compromise your entire freezer
>one of your guys is named "clintonio"
don't talk shit about my chef, motherfucker
>Do they get a comfortable penalty for human leather furniture?
nope
>Did you use a psychopath to craft it?
nope
they already bitch about butchering the prisoners and operating on the prisoners tho so its good they're not even more buttblasted of the armchairs
What's the most optimal placement for rooms? I just put them wherever
>how to make raids actually fun?
raids will never be fun because tynan is a fucking tool and doesn't know how to make a compelling or interesting game, all he did was lazily rip off dwarf fortress and made something slightly better than all the other DF clones out there.
Good. Because i don't have a psychopath in my colony. Now I'm definitely doing it.
I like the chess table right in the middle
I HAVE NO ANUS AND I MUST SHIT
imagine a digestive system that uses the same orifice for input and output
Human skin is also very profitable, my colony controls the entire human skin market on the planet.
see pic related for what I mean about inefficient room placement. the closest bedroom to this workshop has to walk pretty damn far and go through FOUR DOORS. At that point you might as well throw a bed in the actual workshop room and just suffer the small penalty instead of having them be extremely inefficient.
basically: bedrooms go near near jobs. don't make a colonist walk halfway across your base to get where he needs to be.
what's the charge up on that though, like 7 seconds?
Help, i make always perfect fortress that never get pawns killed besides that one time one goes berzerk on the middle of the main room and get magdumped but i can't for my life make a working caravan, they always either die from cold, run out of food, their speed decrease so much and there is no way to hunt while they walk, not only that but everytime i siege and the pawns win they walk around like retards instead of building shit and healing the prisoners, is so fucking annoying.
that's a prison, kek
oh and yes I'm aware those rooms are currently prisons/hospitals, I just marked the closest room regardless of its current purpose.
Like snakes but instead of bones is massive diarrhea barf
That just means OP is an even bigger retard for having his rooms a mile away from everything else.
So me every time I go drinking with my friends.
>get mod because i want some kitty waifus
>start with self insert and some cute catgirls
>the catgirls start with some OP as fuck tundra falcon guns, one of them has a shield belt and a plasteel knife
>one of them started in some power armor exoskeleton
>go back to scenario editor and set up some actual starting gear instead
>come back and actually start playing
>7.81 c/s move speed
Everything about that mod is OP as fuck.
me again, so does nobody here know how to make raids fun? are you just a bunch of autismos that play on basebuilder difficulty and/or use killboxes to deal with raids?
Like 6 seconds but because he is a super soldier with bionic arms, 15 shooting and a full Nerve Suit set. He fires them at like 3.5 seconds
Just use killboxes and trapmazes honestly. It's the way the game was designed to be played. Why gimp yourself needlessly?
I installed that mod because I wanted some xenos to hunt. Turns out they're op as fuck. The best part is that the seem to have a higher chance to spawn with the gay trait too.
Literal furry faggots. I'm going to make the emperor proud.
>20 batteries for a tiny base like that
I could understand if he haad some hydroponics in there but he has none
Best mod for new factions? I can't stand vanilla guys anymore.
What's a simple killbox/trapmaze design for early game? I've got a small compound but anytime Randy sends raider groups of more than 4 they wreck my colonists.
For roleplaying purposes. The game is easy enough as it is, completely optimizing everything just serves to make it pointless and unfun.
Make a wall? and have only 1 entrance covered with sandbags and one tile walls next to them?
>Just minmax with killhole exploiting and make every raid irrelevant while you just build shit.
Please fuck off.
he FUCKING DIED, and it's all your fault
wheeeeeeey
lads Lads LADS L A D S
I don't like killboxes either but he has a point. If you don't do it you're gonna get fucked by the wealth system when the game decides to throw 16 raiders against your 4 starting guys because you have too much steel in your stockpile.
I'm done
i usually have some Wolves tamed with People with a variety of guns (shotguns, snipers, assault rifles) few guys with swords and armour/belts. I also have 3-4 mortors setup that roll HE/EMP/INC depending what im fighting, if things get bad i send in the wolves and fall back to my wall and if things are very very bad i pull back into the wall and get ready (traps are at the entrance/exits). it's quite fun and i play it like its baulders gate.
Old screenshot.
Kek happens to me literally everytime. Not even memeing here.
Fuck plague and fuck white people
I like your Sup Forums farm
Gonna copy that too along with the nazi fun room.
>genetic rim mod
>boomalope/squirrel hybrid jihad squad
>thrumbear infantry
>SPIDERSNAKES
does this happen to you all the time too?
>3 people literally dying
>doctor is making food
really makes you think
>play rimworld
>far less tedious surface building system
>still pretend it's dwarf fortress
Fucking casuals
Any suggestions and tips how to survive in the ice biome?
probably incapable of violence
>Kill some pirates
>They drop drugs
>DUDE
>Grandma 420 blazes it and gets an addiction
>Lock her up
How long do addictions take to sweat out? We don't tolerate that kind of shit on our colony
First research is complex clothing, you need your guys to be able to perform tasks outside, Start stockpiling pemmican as soon as you can. And keep track of your campfires if you are starting off as a tribal (i did)
Pic is of the start of this run.
what do you want from me?
I just want to build a comfy mountain base with small spaceport.
says on the debuff
A few weeks ingame, they may go beserk so if you need to re-arrest them do it with wooden/stone clubs
it's a pretty long time, if you're worried about mental breaks wall her up using a paste dispenser to fill the gap, that way you can put the hopper on the outside and feed her without having a door she can get out through.
Hmmmm sounds good, i will try it out later today. Thanks for the tips user
Speak of the devil, Goddamit Granny, I need you as a cleaning lady.
Because you cant grow shit you need to survive on the berries that grow around the map and use them to make pemmican, DONT use them to make simple meals or fine meals, use the berries and meat to make pemmican, and only meat to make meals.
Be careful not to tame too much, they will eat your food. Also snow makes your guys shooting worse.
My best crafter has 'Chemical fascination', whenever he tries to binge on something i dont want him to (wake-up, yayo, flake ect) i just run up and BOP him one because he is a wimp, the only time i like having him as a wimp.
>Because you cant grow shit you need to survive on the berries that grow around the map and use them to make pemmican
perhpas im playing in a slightly different biome but I never noticed any berries. Mostly just snow and rocks/steel and no trees and such
I think I'm going to rename her as Sachiko so I don't feel as bad BAP-ing her.
im in a boreal forest. When you start the game in one of those there are berries around the map, gotta get em before they die off though, but they can freeze on the bushes so you can harvest those ones even though they wont grow anymore.
>Start a new game of Rimworld
>Spend an hour or two making miserable communism cubes and potato farms every single time
>Quit
>Repeat
I have a disease. Every time I try to break the habit I just think "Man, setting up individual buildings is less efficient when starting out than making a single large building with crappy sleeping coffins" and then that spirals out to "Man, it would be more efficient if everything was packed together so there was less time spent walking" and then before I know it I'm neck deep in potatoes again.
>run out of components
Stop overbuilding.
>im in a boreal forest
Oh I see, thats why. Im trying to survive in the ice sheet. Based on your first picture I assumed that its the same location
anyone ever doing an all random char run, or atleast choose only between the initial ones?
Canabalism, i assume thats how you survive, that untill you get hydroponics.
How many AC units do I need to insulate a single-walled fridge from "FUCK YOU" Heat Waves?
DELET.
Anyone tried a proper solo run? Like one guy from beginning to end, no recruiting whatsoever?
You dont? i did that on tribal and had 2 guys with alcohol addictions and 1 psychite addiction
no, I started with rerolling for good stats, then started with prepare carefully because rerolling took to long but now I don't find it fun nor feel like wasting 20 minutes in char gen
Delet your overbildiness
Is there any way to call off wedding/party event?
yeah, when you get raided during it or when a social fight starts with the groom/bride, both have happened to me.
Just get the quantum cooling mod and set it to -270C so you never have to worry about the heat ever again.
Do you just don't pay attention to mood at all?
2 layers, any more than that or space between them does nothing.
I go with whoever it gives me and work around it, I like to Play the game for the stories and not to minmax everything, Fucking sucks when you have shit handlers/farmers/Doctors (Doctors is worse)
How to speedrun this game?
What is most optimal start?
>speedrunning
lay off the soylent there bud
>Reddit, the post.
>reddit: the reply
Doesn't matter much, especially early on. The few times I've played past potato land I just set up apartment complexes for more efficient AC/heating rather than individual houses.
Kill the bride?
>reddit, the comeback.
I've done a few ice sheet runs, here's how you do it:
Bring along a character with a high research skill. Set up a small base with a heater and a wind turbine, don't bother with solar this far north since they wont produce shit for power. It helps if you can dig in to a mountain or hill to save on resources. Kill all the bunnies and polar bears on the map since they are the only food you'll be getting for a while, make sure to do it on the first day or they will leave the map. Build a research bench and set your researcher to research hydroponics. Set up another person on night shift to research when your main researcher is asleep. Ideally, your research bench should be in use at all times. If you focus hard on researching you should get hydroponics long before you run out of food. From then on its pretty easy.
