NOOOOOOOO
DELETE RIGHT NOW

Where's crysis? It's still the best looking game.

stay on topic please

shill harder faggot

>Gravity Rush 2
God bless DF

You asked for people's thoughts, then said they were being off topic when you got them. Idiot.

I don't think I'll watch this video since OP is clearly advertising but I wonder what they had to say about the game. It wasn't impressive tech wise. The only neat thing I can remember was how light refracted in water bubbles but that's just a neat attention to detail.

Physics and particle engine, scope of the game, detail, post-processing, PS4 Pro enhancements and the fact that it runs smooth at 1080p were all praised.
He must've used the Pro exclusively to play because it can tank hard on the base PS4 when things get hectic.

lmao no xbox title even though xbox one x is the "most powerful console".

Crysis didn't exactly come out in 2017

Non of that is impressive since it looks like a ps3 game

because nothing came out this year. next year horizon 4 with photogrammetry will 100% be in that list.

Nice that its not completely forgotten

if playground is even working on a horizon 4.

Yes they are. Why wouldnt they

The list isn't about visuals only, or The Surge wouldn't even be there. Also the Horizon devs are making that open world RPG, probably no Horizon next year.

gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-11-23-playground-games-hires-gta-v-metal-gear-solid-and-hellblade-devs-for-open-world-action-rpg

Dunno if they will also be working on Horizon 4 at the same time, but it's something.

>The list isn't about visuals only,

then why is Whoreizon on there when the environment doesnt even react to the player

That's the second studio they opened at the beginning of the year. Mainstudio is still working on Horizon 4.

I'm drunk and I'm almost tearing up thinking about when I used to be AMAZED when looking at MGS1 or 2 and thinking "man this is it, there will never be anything as realistic as this ever again", and today's games' technical department doesn't impress me even a little bit. We will never live in that age of woderment ever again man

how the fuck is zelda so high? it looks like a ps2 game for fucks sake

>Nintendo in the Top 3

kys dicksucker.
>hurr why cant we have new console gens every year

looks like counting frames doesnt make you an expert when it comes to visual fidelty or actual tech

Gravity rush remaster looks maybe ps3 tiet. But GR2 is clearly ps4 title, at least watch DF video. Too bad you havent played it

Ass Creed is a glitch filled mess. The fact that it's No 2 is just awful

I don't see how it's impressive gaming tech when console games are just catching up to where PCs were 5-6 years ago, especially when it took upgraded consoles to pull it off well. Show me an impressive looking game running on the 3DS or the Vita, or some shit. That might be impressive.

Watch the video? Zelda wouldn't be on there for visuals since its the Wii U/Switch and not Cemu, its about everything else. Battlefront 2 isn't on there since that game is ALL visuals.

i did and it sucked. it doesnt look good.

Interactivity with the environment probably.

>p-pls watch our video!!

DF are retarded, they're calling Uncharted and Gears 4 technical masterpieces when they dont even look that good

not deserved though, there is nothing tech impressive about this game

I'm surprised Cuphead isn't there, given that all the animation is all hand drawn. Claybook is cheating since it's not out yet.

Battlefront 2 looks a generation ahead of HZD at times & runs at 60fps to boot, but everyone is mad because the lootboxes

youtube.com/watch?v=2h-6Nru9GiA

Also Zelda having such good physics for a Wii U title should grant it no.1 imo, HZD in comparison is very static

Yeah this. It's not impressive, they're doing what they're supposed to be doing.

Dunno about you guys but seeing a console or handheld, or even a phone, do something it's not supposed to is always a more impressive show of technology and skill of development. Like those devs that got dynamic volumetric lighting working properly on a PS2, fucking heroes man.

What's with people starting "best of" lists with number 1

>never played either of these games btw

Nice boobs, source?

Try to be more believable next time
>comparing fps to open world game and its not about just looks, but also technology involved

show me an open world game with more interactive environment than botw
you fucking can't

always funny to see someone reply with something mad about something he obviously missed the point of. Youre an idiot.

Lol

>Physics and particle engine, scope of the game, detail, post-processing, PS4 Pro enhancements and the fact that it runs smooth at 1080p were all praised.
I might be biased in that I'm not a consolefaggot but that just sounds pretty standard. What does he even mean by scope of the game anyways

Crisis is definitely not the best looking game and it hasn't been for at least 5 or 6 years, maybe more

surprised the zero dawn webm poster didn't make a thread about it earlier

>The Surge
Seriously?

ITT a bunch of PC nerds mad they didn't have an exclusive in the list

Welp someone post the Horizon Zelda comparison so we can get this shit thread over with.

it's a shit game but it looks great

>Watch the video?
I did but I still don't see what's "technically impressive" about Horizon so much that it's at the top of the list, and I played through that shit on my Pro. Maybe 2017 was just a bad year for industry-pushing game tech so they just took some game that looks impressive and passed it off as being actually impressive.

I mean it's obvious that you're a jaded fuck, is that what you wanted to read and consoles cycles were really short back then, that's why people were amazed by the sudden leaps but now it's become more gradual.

Too bad that video is biased. One thing I remember was bush shilling, butHZD has bush that deforms with you. Somehow whoever made video found ones that doesnt and hurr durr.
>in house engine
>4k on ps4 pro or 1080p60fps solid
>Game is big, looks good and is like 6gigs
go figure why
Watch this at least a bit
youtu.be/0Y8u7MvuArA
Its alright, worth playing. Miles ahead LoTF

They like how Zelda does that thing you can do with Skyrim mods. I honestly don't trust Digital Foundry on anything other than their framerate and graphical analysis, they're a part of Eurogamer and thus are connected to that one faggot who said "Suda51 is a talentless piece of shit that needs to be kicked out of the games industry forever"

>"Suda51 is a talentless piece of shit
it's true though
>Zelda does that thing you can do with Skyrim mods
except this time it actually works

None of that stuff is impressive though and it has FPS drops below 30.

>Try to be more believable next time
I agree with him. Neat art design sometimes but it was a blurry mess of low poly models.

they justify it by saying that the game is only 6gb, and that is actually rather impressive considering that it does look good.

Im more annoyed at the justification for Zelda, it uses current tech that you see in other games but since its on a Wii U its impressive that they managed to pull those off.

Honestly I didnt really feel that Nex Machina did anything really special, it was no Red Faction Guerrilla, the Claybook thing for me should have been n.1, that stuff is really impressive.
This year honestly didnt do much in terms of tech, Prey did some cool stuff in it.

Horizon Zero Gameplay

Crysis didn't come out in 2017 and these awards are not for the best graphics, but the best tech. Retard.

>Gravity Rush 2
Why? Its engine is medicore as hell and its gravity systems were already in place from the first game, so nothing new there.
>Surge
Again, why? It did nothing new.

isn't* woops

But PS4 doing what Horizon does is what it's supposed to, it's what was promised to us way back in like 2013 when they were first showing off the particle effects and post-processing claiming that the PS4 would be able to do all this at 1080p60. The fact that this stuff is only happening on a PS4 Pro, which was promised to be able to do all this and more at 4K60, isn't impressive, it's a let down.

...

>its on a Wii U its impressive that they managed to pull those off.

Isn't that precisely the point of these? Nintendo were able to implement many current day physics/rendering techniques into hardware that is old as heck.

...

I agree, I didn't even know Claybook existed but now I want to pick it up because of how neat it is. Seems the most interesting out of the list.

Crysis isn't even the best-looking Crysis game any more, let alone the best overall. That would be Rise of the Tomb Raider.

>Slashes through bush
>nothing happens
>Slashes through grass
>nothing happens
Shit they weren't lying when they said BotW had better physics

They probably put horizon up top because it lost goty to zelda

Crysis has better graphics but ROTTR has better models.

Why do you constantly shill digital foundry videos, you've posted at least 5 of them already and every time you do you're like "I'm not gonna explain anything just click on this video and watch it all the way so google will give them the full ad revenue and I get paid for having shilled their video"

i dont get why any of those are on the list except for ACO but thats also wrong because its should Wildlands

That's the point I was making. There's nothing impressive about it - it SHOULD be the norm for a console with the chipset of the ps4.

What technology does HZD have though? the world is very static, it's one of the trade off's they made for pushing visuals on PS4 that far, all the foliage except tall grass clips through the player & has zero physics

>they justify it by saying that the game is only 6gb, and that is actually rather impressive considering that it does look good.
Oh wow a small non-AAA game that actually compresses their data files and doesn't bullshit you by making you also download shit you don't need like titanfall does, that is definitely without a doubt directly connected to the game's graphics looking good.

Don't bother mentioning it here, Sup Forumstards don't get why it's actually impressive

That's because nuDOOM came out last year and pubg is a buggy unoptimized piece of shit made by koreans

Then when Squadron 42 tops all the lists console fags will claim graphics don't matter
the cylce repeats a new

Crysis looks good still but it isn't the best-looking game anymore you autist. It was the FIRST game to do a lot of neat things but other games have improved upon it. Crysis can't even do ambient occlusion and anisotropic filtering at the same time because of engine limitations, and the textures look pretty dated. Crysis 3 looks better in almost every way, I think the only thing Crysis still has that a lot of games don't is its physics system.

>technology thread on Sup Forums
Haha get ready for people shitting on every game on the list and spouting shit they don't know anything about

The point you made was that it's impressive because PS4 is doing something it's not supposed to

Didnt video tell you anything?

There is Literally nothing impressive about the tech presented in this video, though. The only reason the WiiU one is, I guess, notable is because it pulls off physics and interactivity crap that most other open world games don't even try...on tech from 2006. And even then that's pushing it.

TECHNICAL MASTERPIECE

Why does the sword swinging effect have fucking corners? Even Smash 4 doesn't has perfectly curved sword swinging effects and that's a pii u game

I didn't mention HZD, and I think you need to develop a sense of reading comprehension if that's what you got from my post.

Wildlands is incredible on PC, it's really underrated

Also Kingdom Come next year looks good, obviously since it's Cryengine

Surprised to see Nex Machina. Criminally went under the radar, that game.

Isn't Kingdom Come that game with the racist developer telling blacks to go back to Africa or some shit

ZELDA FAGS BTFO

Are you retarded

The maps in bf2 are to the point where there isnt a difference, they are open world only difference scale. Suck balls

SONY

whiiirrrr

Video Games are technology

Horizon Zero Dawn won best tech

Therefore by logic Horizon Zero Dawn is the game of the year

Horizon is actually a bizarrely pretty game for being stuck on a underpowered piece of shit.

I am extremely happy kojima is using the same engine.

No but I remember seeing a bunch of articles about some game called Kingdom something that has a racist dev that said that, I just wanted to know if it was this game or another Kingdom

>Horizon
>WHATS HERE IS GENUINELY IMPRESSIVE TO BEHOLD
>said while shitty popin on the left
lmao

youtu.be/1g3z3bkrK3o?t=752

LOL
LOL LOL

What did nexmachina do technologicaly?
Sure it's visualy impressive during the level transitions and being able to see parts of future or earlier levels but I dont get why it would be on this list, I mean battlefront 2 for all its faults was still technologicaly impressive and looked good.

Yeah, you're retarded.

>but other games have improved upon it.
Hahahhaah no. And I didn't say it was the best looking game.

Crysis texture are not dated though, what the hell are you smoking?

>Horizon can't even do water reflections, a thing that's been done to fucking death since the Gamecube era
How the fuck did it win best gaming tech then?
