In an age of boring ass basic bitch normie games full of sjw garbage and huge graphics budgets, here's finally a game I can't put down.
It just updated this month, there's a new difficulty and several things were changed. It's ever better.

It's in my cart at the moment, probably get it on the last day.

Still waiting for expansion to drop so I can replay as Psi master mindfucking and setting everything on fire while manipulating time and space.
>stygian coins
I'm not seeing your point.
yeah, i've got a build in mind as well, but I wanted to test run this new difficulty first
even as an assault rifle juggernaut (aka easy mode), it's fucking hard
my time-warping siphoner leather smg commando run is gonna be fucking brutal
...
Armor in this is pretty weird. I went full murican sprinter 95% armor penalty and thought I had the best armor in the game, I probably did just because of the huge damage resistances I had across the board. But those tactical vests get that ridiculous flat damage threshold if you deck them out, but only against bullets. How do you deal with the huge gap in your defenses? Do you just carry 3 pairs of armor for various enemies?
>“ You gain experience up by collecting "oddities" scattered across Underrail and by completing quests. Higher end oddities are found in progressively more dangerous and hard to access areas, but most oddities can, technically, be obtained without killing enemies. No experience is granted for skill usage or killing (though some oddities are only dropped by creatures). ”
— In-game description
There is also a "classic" mode that works like any other game. You choose which you want.
You can play any combination of fighter, rogue, or mage that you want. Healing is from items only, which you can buy or make.
Weapons include fists/gloves, knives/daggers, sledgehammers, spiked boots and/or armor that add to your melee damage, pistols, SMG's, assault rifles, sniper rifles, crossbows, laser/plasma/electro/chemical pistols (think Rick), psionic powers (flamethrower, ice ball, eletrical mind damage, etc), grenades of various kinds, throwing nets and caltrops, tasers, and a bunch of unique weapons like a kukri or a claw
I wonder how doable it's going to be to integrate new school of psi into full psi builds.
I do that in my current run. I have a quad tungsten metal armor, a quad tichrome suit for energy heavy areas, a blast cloth anti-rifle vest for bullet heavy areas, a stealth suit (plus boots and mask), and I wear tungsten boots with a pair of goggles, though I also have a shaded helmet that I just about never use
I gave up on carrying them all around with me, so I either go and get them if I think I need them, or I just stick to the tungsten suit and carry the light sneaking gear all the time. Especially since I got a good shield and a regenerative vest; bullets/explosions/lasers aren't a big deal anymore, even snipers to a lesser degree.
Sledgehammer build on DOMINATING is a new kind of hell
RATHOUND
REGALIA
That mission's great, tests how well your build can deal with an extended encounter.
>play on Easy because I'm a pussy
>melee/throwing build
>kick guys in the dick and then smash their faces in with a 2h hammer
>occasionally throw molotovs and grenades
>progress through the game with relative ease
>Hollow Earth
>Industrial Robots, Snails, those annoying gremlins that summon ghost copies you have to kill
>run out of throwables but the hammer prevails in the end
>Tchort
>every turn involves being rooted in place
>no way to break it, no way to fight back, nothing has a dick to kick
>more of those shitty gremlins
That, on top of all the loading screen errors that were still around when I was doing that part, made me quit
I played one until after I beat junkyard, on hard, and it was the easiest run Ive done so far, but yeah I can't imagine dealing with the fucking crawler swarms liek that. Just this morning I got to the black crawler nest with my AR juggernaut, and I just can't. I'll have to come back with late-game gear. I never encountered this thing the last time I played, even though I finished this level.
that's what she wore for all of the mid game, up to lvl 21
I consider the Deep Caverns an optional extended epilogue
>>every turn involves being rooted in place
Is that due to the tentacools? I did the puzzle with my crossbow sniper and I don't remember having that happen to her at all.
Wish he would add unique kill animations like in Fallout.
Heasdhots actually slapptering the head, fire turning them into crispy, explosives painting the walls etc.
Played a lot of builds but only ever bothered to finish the game as a nothing personnell knife user. Favourite way to play, just slitting throats and stabbing people.
A shame that Riot Gear (with or without the shield) is without a doubt the very worst armour in the game. Every other armour type has its place and purpose.
Anti melee just isn't that good in general outside of very specific circumstances (crawlers), and desu metal armour just does it better for comparable armour penalty.
I heard he changed some skill checks that don't actually have a check recently, has he changed persuasion/intimidate? Iirc, persuasion has only one area where its a 'requirement' in the game (protectorate defectors). Intimidate is, as far as I know, a mostly worthless skill that exists to give you trap dialogue options that you can never (?) succeed on just to show off how an NPC is badass (Mordre, Wyatt, some battles, etc) and even if you do succeed it generally doesn't accomplish anything. The only place that comes to mind is Grover, and you can just knock him around a bit for exactly the same effect making intimidate worthless.
Not that I'd care. I'd hate to feel like I needed to dedicate skills into social stuff, especially with Will 3 in most builds.
That you need to play a Psi basically (because of the Will requirement, which is an automatic 3 in literally any non psi build) makes it even worse.
The best use of intimidate is the Yell feat, which is then only useful for dodge/evade characters as with it can massively downgrade enemy attack skills.
of course it would be cool, but the noises alone are super satisfying, especially dat shock sledgehammer
>as a nothing personnell knife user. Favourite way to play, just slitting throats and stabbing people
new feat
underrail.com
riot gear is decent all-round, but its especially good for psi
regen vest/supersteel sheet/psi beetle shield/antithermic coat + good shield emitter
for anybody else, you can do better
yeah, I agree that social skills are weak in this game, though persuasion gives you the good options in quests and mercantile gets you access to some of the best components
does it have gamepad support yet?
...
I dont want to play this game with a mouse like an uncivilized monkey, so answer me this simple question
It was fun and the combat was challenging and satisfying the first run around but it seriously wears on me how FUCKING SLOW you are, its only exasperated in a game with very limited fast travel. Also whos fucking idea was it to put your house past like four fucking loading screens, kill me.
i was also upset you couldnt earnestly join the old god cult
yeah, my biggest gripe with the game is how long it all takes, but thats a blessing as well, because I really enjoy playing it. However, I see all these people talking about beating the games with multiple characters and I have to wonder if they just skip most of it. It took me weeks of no-lifing to get through it once.
Styg is trying to make the house feel like your base of operations, and I guarantee he gets nothing but complaints about its placement, so I suspect he'll fix that sometime.
What's your build?
thats a picture from an older thread
boards.fireden.net
so I dunno, but evidently stealth/psi
>Styg is trying to make the house feel like your base of operations
Fucking hell, I tried buying every upgrade for it when I had like 25k stocked up.
Is this another joke of his to make the house cost like 50k to max out. Does anything even happen at the house for upgrading or just in general?
>tfw no companions
It will be all about being a shotgun time wizard for me.
the workbenches give you slight bonuses but the entire thing was designed to be a money sink for people who played the game's economics well enough they had money to burn
he never really intended for you to be able or even want to complete the house
now if your autism can't help but want to complete everything then you're free to try
will there be a stealth shotgun option?
No idea. Shotguns aren't known for their steath though.
>people who played the game's economics
>collect guns
>clean out every single gun merchant for every coin and grenade they own with guns to spare
Yeah. That was a hard game.
well you could always just invest into stealth then use that to get close enough for full meatshots and go SURPRISE SHOTGUN
I think he just meant that he wants it to be your main place to return to after each outing, rather than taking the train back to SGS, which everybody does because fuck walking a round-trip of 8 screens
I only did the workbenches, personally
Because of this game, I think "Dominating" is my new favorite word for expressing approval in something.
You never check out anything not talked about on Sup Forums do you
>fight with a sledgehammer
>arena nickname is Specs Bomb
What
shouldn't have started with that grenade, my friend
likewise, me opening the first fight with an aimed shot for 700 damage got me a gay name as well
is the game actually good or is it 'Sup Forums good'
I was serious when I said it's the only game in a long time that I can't put down. It's the smartest/hardest game Ive ever played and is just endlessly satisfying. But then I don't like most of the games v talks about, so you'll either love it or hate it.
It's basically old-fallout released in 2015 in a new skin. It's combat focused with story taking a backseat. No idea if that's 'Sup Forums good'. Does Sup Forums in general even like the game? I thought it wasn't on the radar of many people here, and it's not bad or popular enough to shitpost about.
fallout was very short and shallow, though
Its an RPG thats more focused on combat than story
Thats bad
But the combat is as good as isometric games can get
Thats good
>Its an RPG thats more focused on combat than story
>Thats bad
Get a load of this fucking idiot.
I found the story to be enjoyable. Weak in the choice department but still enjoyable.
RIP Vivian
name 47 games that aren't
>a role playing game that doesnt focus on role playing is a positive thing
Well it had nightly threads that went into the 100s of posts for a few months after it came out to the point people were bitching about moving it to /vg. So it's fair to say yes, some of /v does like it.
>Thats bad
Is it? The point of a "game" is "gameplay", isn't it? I agree the story could have been better (I can say that about any game).
>Dialogue choices are the only avenue of role play
>a GAME that doesn't focus on being a GAME is a positive thing
Sounds like I missed out. Underrail 2 spam when
I'm saying compared to Underrail. Fallout is almost more like a movie in a sense. I loved it to death, but I did the whole game in 2 days, whereas a playthrough of underrail takes me over a month. Short games aren't necessarily bad; I've beaten PE2 and RE2 in a single day before, and I love them. I'd love them more if they were longer, though.
I didn't even know about it until last year, I think. I'm often late to the good stuff.
the godmen be crazy dawg
When the character building and the combat are this good, yeah it's enough of a compromise. At least from what you could expect out of a couple of slavs.
Look out for when the expansion comes out. I imagine some like me, have already done enough runs to care for a simple update when there's the exp on the horizon.
Should DnD just be a combat simulator too? Thats a tabletop GAME after all. Mechanics are just there to be a vessel for the story. This is an isometric RPG you mongs, if youve got such a massive hard on for gameplay over story then youre in the wrong godamn genre.
I hear you, but take a look anyway
the best parts of iso rpgs are the gameplay, the best ones are those that also have a good story
gameplay > story, but gameplay+story > gameplay
>Increased Coil Spider psi points and psi regeneration
>Coil Spiders now have darkvision
>Added Greater Coil Spiders
Now I'm DEFINITELY not playing it. kek
Deep Caves aside, those are by far the most aggravating baddie in the game and fukken Styg's gone and made them worse? lol, can't wait to do the basement of the "whatever that base is called where you find the power fist" again.
>Should DnD just be a combat simulator too?
Well guess what the DnD video games are?
Later, southgater.
I didn't have trouble with that. I think it's always crawlers that give me the most trouble, especially in this update.
kek
the best parts of D&D are the fights, of course, though I also value the exploration/skill/general spell mechanics. It's still an RPG, because you make a character and play that character depending on their strengths and weaknesses, and then there are race/alignment choices to consider. The main strength of that is choosing how you want to handle things, not how good the DM's plot is.
>role playing means things I like
This has a map now, yeah? I played around 20 hours earlier this year, but had to take a break for a month or so and was completely lost when I came back to it.
Crawlers I've always found really simple to deal with. They stab you once and piss off, wait for a couple of rounds til the poison takes effect and then return to the exact spot they stabbed you. As long as you got plenty of antidote you can trap them p easy with low skill and base beartraps.
It has a map, yeah. But if you load your old save it will start blank. You'll have to reexplore everything if you want them mapped.
Looks like some shitty flash game
yes, if you know or suspect they're around, you can try to trap them, but ive found they often ambush me before I can get my traps ready. I played a sneaky crossbow trapper, so when they got me, they got me good.
Regardless, the antidote strategy doesn't really work any more, even as a juggernaut.
Was getting Quick Tinkerer against your concept or something?
I didn't consider it worth a spot. I had to pick and choose. If I made this character now, I'd drop trap expert since they got rid of the cooldowns.
>the antidote strategy doesn't really work any more
Please elaborate.
Do you want me to tell you, or do you want to find out yourself?
Yeah I can see why, Quick Tinkerer doesn't sound like much but damnit, is it ever a game changer. I don't suppose I could convince you to carry a metal helmet (as light as possible of course but with shades) around to indulge in the time-honored Juggernaut tradition of dropping a flashbang at your feet and opening fire on the suckers?
You know what, fair question, I'll see for myself when I do another run.
Are you referring to their detestable habit of hitting you and restealthing 80% of the time in the same turn until you're stunned?
I beat the game a long time ago; she managed fine for almost of all of it, including against crawlers, I'm just saying they were the hardest while coil spiders were rarely hard. She actually managed to spot them first sometimes.
why would that change the antidote option? Anyway no.
I've played Underrail for hours and in all of that time the game hasn't stopped feeling like that cave full of rats where you start in Fallout 1, except it only lasts 3 minutes in Fallout 1.
I always lol at that dead guy that didn't make it past the rats there. Some were never meant to fly.
that's probably my favorite dungeon in fallout
fuck no, I meant vault 15, not the beginning cave
this is a lot funnier after this realization
