No, the links actually expire at the end of 2017. If I hadn't gone digging through my inbox a few days ago, I would have missed my link.
Why such a short time frame? If I remember correctly they didn't even have these ready as soon as the service shut down.

I have no idea why they're in such a rush. It seems really sloppy. The links aren't even password protected. I wonder if anyone has scraped up all the open links and downloaded everything?
Actually now that I think about it, this would hardly be worth it. Comments on posts aren't included in Nintendo's links, and any account that made posts infringing on their rules either had their request ignored or their infringing posts weren't sent.

You had to send the request before the shutdown on November 7, and they only gave a couple months' notice. A lot of people didn't get a chance.

Still don't get why they didn't integrate Miiverse with Miitomo or something. I would have loved to hear my shitposts with the meme Mii voices. Miitomo was such a waste since they could have actually made that concept into a proper social media network.

I wouldn't call it short. I received and downloaded my history ages ago.
Some people got like a month to download it. Some got less, and it was in the middle of the holiday season when it could be missed or forgotten easily.
