Will they implement enemies blocking at all? The game's due this year and I haven't seen any gameplay or even just animations of enemies blocking attacks. Combo based combat is boring if the enemies are just going to stand there and take it.

The only ones that are objectively not as good are Baozhai and "Vasco" who is now Latigo. Vasco is still going to be in the game as an NPC.

The characters were never set in stone so they thought it'd be okay to change him by making him fit the specific role they wanted for him and to make it easier for them to animate. They went too far in changing him and people got mad because they liked the original so now he's an NPC.

Latigo is a sword gunman so they basically mixed Vasco with the posh black fencer guy who is probably not going to be a party member now.

Lots of things change during development, this happens in literally every game. Some characters are cut, some are added, like the botanist kid and their weird seed pet.

Actually read my post next time, dumbass. If the characters were not set yet they shouldn’t have been given essentially finalized artwork, names, and very detailed descriptions and plastered all over the campaign, then changed AFTER the money was in their hands.

Uh... no. The mistake was them not realizing how much people liked the characters they showed even though to them they weren't set in stone. In fact even though it was great that they made the demo, for such a character intensive game they really dropped the ball when showing them off. I'm sure they only had a few designs initially, but realized how many more characters they'd need to sell the game, so they hurried and made a whole bunch more, which to THEM was a bunch of rough designs, but to the people donating, they really liked them and wanted the characters to stay the same.

They weren't given detailed descriptions. Most of them barely got names. They had so much concept art done because Alex Ahad is a beast and shits this stuff out on the regular even without being paid, and it's not like they had a whole lot of actual game to show because that was the whole point of the crowdfunding.

the designs weren't finalized. it said so at the top of the character webpage, and they said the same thing in Q&A's.

it's hard to build hype for a campaign when you don't have colorful pictures to share though. they were originally just putting up grayscale sketches for characters, but realized it wasn't building enough hype, so they went back and gave them a little more meat.

they couldn't afford to go through a full pre-production process with no funding though. most of the designs posted were just alex ahad's reinterpretations of other LZ staff's sketches, but they hadn't collectively decided on what details were practical for the game yet.

That's not even remotely true, the bottom row of images present in are a character's reference sheet for when they're being animated, not their idle stance. Outside of Latigo, none of them have their weapons out despite the fact that, as seen , there's never a frame where a character's weapon ISN'T out ingame.
This means that Cannon girl can still have her rope and spear, but they're likely on a second reference sheet which isn't present in that image.

They redesigned Vasco as the gay black musketeer and due to the backlash made him a different character named Latigo instead.

That being said there's no confirmation of Vasco still being a party member, all that's confirmed is he's involved with Latigo's backstory

All reasons are subjective. No reason will ever be good enough for you.

But I'll give you some.

1) color diversity: it's more interesting to have different skintoned characters.

2) guns are boring, especially two handed guns. Not a lot of animation diversity. Variations of shooting a gun two handed. It would be a very straight forward play style. A sword pistol thing? Works better. Single handed guns allow for more flair.

3) simplification. Seems designs are getting trimmed down, for good or Ill. This one too.

4) story: maybe it works better in whatever story role the character is in. Happens.


Overrall? Doesn't matter. Some designs will go. It happens. Even your favorite design may not be right, for whatever reason.

How long do battles last? Seems very flashy yet time consuming for fighting regular mooks.

Is the gameplay being programmed by the same autism master that meticulously balanced everyone in Skullgirls and somehow managed to make a ratio system work pretty well in a 3v3 fighter? If so I have hope for the gameplay actually being fun and deep, instead of just "mash buttons to summon all your allies at once" for every encounter.

I'm sure it'll follow the same RPG trope where mashing A is enough to beat random encounter mooks but you need to think a bit more when it comes to mini bosses/bosses.

God RPGs suck. Why couldn't they have made literally any other kind of game.
