He doesn't want you to be stuck doing his job, being the caretaker of the Dream for a literal eternity
It wasn't all a dream... Dumbass.
Gherman's trying to help you by forcing you out of the Hunter's Dream. He think's you'd have to be insane to want to stick around.
anyone else feel that the twist of fighting Gherman was kind of meh?
i mean you talk to him like 3 times tops. they should have made him more prevalent to really hit that twist. i mean imagine if the doll turned out to be the MP or some other great one that you had to fight at the end. that shit would be bananas
>no its not, everything that happens in game actually happened, dreams are more like seperate planes of reality
>you betrayed him if anything, he doesn't want you to suffer the same fate. Also Gehrman is barely a mentor
>it was a genuinely surprising twist and makes the game a very unique experience
But anyways you probably already knew this so post

I really don't know, user.
I fucking loved this game, but looks like to be a good game you need to play bout 40 times.
I just loved the game, liked the story and the settings was my alley.
But it's about perfection to talk about with your friends, not about the fun you had.

You have absolutely understood nothing.
You understanding of bloodborne's plot is zero but i don't blame you it is retardedly obscure.
That being said there are some obvious things some of which you seem to have missed completly.

>why does did this game garnish so much praise again
It was AAA kino game based on Lovecraft and occult philosophy. It's a miracle it even exist in such a state without being bastardize by a lot of modernized gaming conventions.
You would be surprised at how much "HARDCORE Sup Forums VIDEOGAME PLAYERS THAT ONLY CARES ABOUT VIDEOGAMES" get assfucked about the people that only want to play a good videogame. The same people who hate story driven games.
When should I start Old Hunters?

By god this weapon. I keep trying to play other things but it's so good there is no better weapon.
The Beasthunter saif. It is supreme, it is fast and that built in dash and backstep with those large swiping arcs.
It is the saw cleaver 2.0, some say baby mode saw cleaver i say saw cleaver made beautiful.
The best weapon in the game absolutely.
After you beat Vicar Amelia. Play it parallel to the story from there based on your ability to progress in it. It's at its best when you're at your worst.

First off none of what you posted is actually what happens. And you can make anything sound shitty by compressing the story into a shitpost like this. Also how about you don't post spoilers. Some people enjoy video games.
the term "dream" in Bloodborne refer to a pocket dimension, not a literal dream.

Blades of Mercy, nothing is more fun desu
bloodborne is great but there's no defending the story.
they cut majority of the dialog to try to make things seem mysterious. bloodborne hacking was the best thing to happen recently
i like the vagueness of it , leaves things open to interpretation.
The hunter was reborn as a great one and the Doll became his surrogate mother, meaning she is a great one herself and at last got what she yearned for.
>>story was all just a dream
It provably wasn't. You meet people in-game who were once hunters just like you, so even if you think Yharnam is a dreamscape (which is still retarded) it's as real as the waking world and you're stuck with it no matter the outcome.
>>mentor betrays and tries to kill you at the end
He does not betray you, if anything you betray him (and even then he's under control of another at all times).
>>ayylmaos out of nowhere ruining a good gothic horror game
Valid complaint by right of it being only opinion, but shit opinion.

Toss up between Central Yharnam and Hunter's Nightmare
Toss up between CUTTAH and Claws
gonna start Old Hunters on my SL10 Milquetoast soon, never played so how butthurt can i expect to get?
As soon as you're able to beat the first cutter hunter without dying like an absolute bitch and feeling like shit about it.
I wish they made a co-op vermintide-like game in the bloodborne universe about purging the scourge of beasts.
I disagree. Just because she becomes the surrogate mother to slugbaby doesn't mean she herself was a Great One (in the same way Gherman is surrogate father to all hunters, doesn't make him a GO either) she's just continuing to do what she was made to do (aiding the good hunter).
German was a "surrogate father" just to common hunters. And the player became a great one thus ceasing to be a hunter. Or would you presume that this ascended being (that was once hunter and became a great one) would continue to hunt beasts after growing up? She became his surrogate mother thus abandoning her original duty. So she had been lingering in the hunter's dream just awaiting the hunter that could become the great one and whom she could adopt.
Why do you keep making this thread? You were already called out as a retarded faggot. Do you really need to be reminded?
Are humanoid BB bosses under the “big guys in armor” category people use for other Souls games?
Does anyone else think they didn't take the twist far enough? I would have loved to see the cosmic horror angle taken to even more extremes like showing huge changes to the landscape caused by the great ones. Something like what happened with the lecture theatre where it got pulled into the dream.

No. Human form Papa G, Henrik, Bloody Crow, Maria and Gehrman are all human sized speedy rapists.
It was painfully underdeveloped
I thought Yahargul looked that way because of insight and that everywhere would get fucked up but no, it’s a standard location (you get taken there if you get kidnapped by the sack guy enemies)
Lame
>the player became a great one thus ceasing to be a hunter
Semantics. The player is the good hunter. They were an outsider brought into the dream, and the Doll's purpose was to aid them. Whether they intend to continue hunting is irrelevant, the Doll is programmed to aid them and with MP dead she just continues to do that duty. There's no reason to assume she would suddenly say, "Oh well you're not a hunter at all, you're an infant Great One, I'll just go sit in the grave garden and leave you alone."
>she had been lingering in the hunter's dream just awaiting the hunter that could become the great one and whom she could adopt
This is a massive assumption to make just based on her taking care of the slug baby. If she herself is a GO why does she do MP's bidding and take the form of Gherman's Maria doll instead of doing her own thing? Why does MP (who has you kill at least two Great Ones, and doesn't mind at all if you kill more) allow her to muscle in on his territory (especially when her goal involves MP's death)? If she's a Great One herself why is she so passive and weak, only really able to power-up the Good Hunter by manipulating echoes he collects, while other Great Ones can create their own dimensions and also exert great influence on the waking world (impregnating humans, making beasts, holding back the blood moon and hiding the lesser amygdalas)? It just doesn't make sense.
Bloodborne had my favorite level design of all souls games but without counting the dlc, the bosses were fuckin shit, every ''great one'' was bland as fuck and the rest i dont even remember their names besides gherman
>ayylmaos out of nowhere ruining a good gothic horror game
Honestly this, the ayylmao plot just didn't cut it for me. I would've preferred vampires, creatures of the night, something à la Van Helsing, but muh Lovecraft completely lost me.
The lore of Bloodborne is pretty poor, the none of the NPCs are memorable except Arianna, and they don't even have quests. Compared to Dark Souls 1 where years later I still know all the dialogues by heart, this blows.
> none of the NPCs are memorable except Arianna
And the Doll? What about the Doll?!?!?!?!1111
Aren't the aliens just beings from another dimension?
I always thought peoples "ayylmao" was overinterupted due to the name of the celestial host
>story was all just a dream
>mentor betrays and tries to kill you at the end
>ayylmaos out of nowhere ruining a good gothic horror game
What about a game where the story is all a dream, but you kill your mentor instead?
I think such a game would really have legs. There'd be something to gain by making it.
What do the aliens do in the swamps?
Not even from another dimension, they were originally denizens of Earth who ascended to other dimensions, transcending the waking world to their higher planes of thought. Speaking as a fanboy of the game, this is a legitimate problem with it, they went at the Great Ones with too many different angles. The aspect of them being the elusive, primal chaos deep within the world (that humans had to actually dig through old tombs to find) was fantastic, but the ayylmao aspect was laid on too thick with the celestial kids (especially the ones in the forest being the first thing most people see of it all) and making contact and the cosmos and all that. I think it really would have worked better if they picked one thing (either ancient chaos of Earth, or alien presence) and stuck to it rather than mixing the two.
Just a few hours into my first playthrough and beat the cleric beast - never played a souls game before. I feel like I partially only managed to beat the first boss by luck since I couldn't really tell when I could dodge through attacks.
Any handy tips for a newcomer?
Perhaps a sequel could blend it together nicely
Most of dark souls esc lore isn't through direct narration anyway so there's a lot of room to do what they want
Gascoigne will teach you everything you need to know.
All trick weapons are viable.
Upgrading a weapon gives more damage to upgrading stats, so can be better if you have the materials.
Guns are for parrying unless you heavily invest in Bloodtinge.
Arcane tools have great utility even if you don't invest heavily into Arc.
Don't lurk threads with lots of spoilers.
Kill the dogs first.
Practice parrying with your pistol. For starters try the sledge hammer giants. And then the lone executioner or the sewer beasts with the staff. If you can master them you can master the other enemies in the game.
Just know once they're parried to walk up to them an press r1for a visceral animation
Later on you'll get runes that give you health back per visceral
Absolutely horrible bait, but since you made me reply I'll give you a star.
I already got the parrying mostly down if that's what you mean. I just don't know if it's worth the risk trying to parry large and fast bosses with harder tells.
Noted, thanks.
I still can't beat Gascoignes beast mode without cheesing him. He has too much stamina and poise t b h. Love him though
Parries and then visceral moves deals the most damage in the game. Like, if you can time Gascoigne perfectly you can probably kill him in 4 or 5 parries.
You can kill those giants in 1 party whereas fighting them with your weapon per hit might take 10-30 depending on if you've upgraded it
can Great Ones even go into another Great One's dreams? i thought that was the whole point of MP guiding you to fuck Mergo up, otherwise MP could have just gone himself

>>mentor
Never felt he was a mentor he just kinda greeted you. Even the doll was more of a mentor to you because she showed you around a bit
The Wet Nurse is referred to as a Great One in the trophies. Even if you don't accept that, the Living String refers to the Brain of Mensis as a Great One. So there's at least two (if not three) in the Nightmare of Mensis.
Plus MP has been doing this for a long time. I doubt that every time he descended and summoned a hunter he had them out killing a Great One. I figure he just doesn't want to get his hands dirty (which sort of makes sense given how he's such a bitch when you fight him; he has the power to bind lives and manipulate the blood and has his own realm and all, but in a straight up arena 1v1 I can see even Ebrietas taking him out).
Patricians.
Nigga this.
idk you need three umbilical cords just to even see mp, id say that's pretty powerful
You go to Yarn to get cured of death/age/lepris/aids/ebola, or something like that
You do get cured, and do get a little bit superhuman, but only to wake to the nightmare of Beasts
Something cults of beasts and factions
Something something beasts only really stalk this hardcore during Hunts, which is a periodic occurrence
"Chalice Dungeons", "Created by Superhumans of old"
Eventually you encounter Rom, which has started to ascend, but is keeping the city normal when its not a Hunt.
And the people taking a collective nightmare suicide, to try to ascend themselves.
And that one halfbreed that stinks of fish.
A lot of pretenders, like Amalia. So things trying to become Ays, but without enough materials or trying to be reborn.
So eventually you do find the only Alien in the game: Moon Presence, who has bothered to bless Yarn with its blood. Which is what sparked a lot of things.
Everything that isn´t MP, is just humans larping after extreme amounts of parasite infections, alien blood magic, and beasts.
The only unanswered questions is why The Night of the Hunt lasts so long during that cycle. Or if we are simply trapped in it, so when it ends, we are trapped in The Dream(MP´s reflection of the world).
Everyone that isn´t fucked behave like normal people when its not a night of the hunt, which is how people like Iofska can make a living.
Yes
But it seem to only start larger hunts because it doesn´t want to.
And its such a bitch, because its still just a child, so its sorta scared of trying to take down the what could be its rivals, if they where allowed to grow.
There is a reason some people in BB seem to start ascending, like The Queen, but stops there. Because MP do not mind
Soyborne.
Good Hunter goes to Yarnham to stop being a Soyboy.
It works out fine
Except for becoming a Kosmboy, or Kosboy as some say
But that's wrong. You can see MP without the umbilical cords, you just need the cords to resist control. MP is able to control you without them (like he controls Gherman) because you're imbued by the blood and within his realm. If he just ran around the waking world then anybody able to resist him (through cords or other Great Ones) would be able to fight him, and in a straight-up fight he's a complete loser.
Another likely reason why he uses proxies instead of doing stuff himself is that he's being targeted. In the Lecture Hall there are notes that say,
>The nameless moon presence beckoned by Laurence and his associates. Paleblood.
>Three third cords
>Hunt the Great Ones, hunt the Great Ones
And since the whole point of the church and school is to ascend, and since the Mensis Ritual was to make contact with a Great One, they were likely aiming to summon MP and kill it (instead getting Mergo and the brain). This is also likely why, despite there being an abundance of Yharnamites imbued with the blood, MP starts selecting foreigners to hunt for him instead of natives.
Why would they take it further?
The only really fucked up place is the Chalice Dungeons, who is currently not being operated in a proper manner.
The more fucked up places is in the pocket dimensions, where things hide.
im sad no one else likes the forbidden forest.
