And need to be resurrected.
Things the gaming industry has *forgotten*
Shitty combat?
Edgy FMV adventure games..
Creativity and effort.
We still have it.
Reasonable budgets.
planetscape tournament is a shit game, it's a book you boring fuck
Too much reading. Never finished it. Needs an Enhanced Edition with everything voiced
Amerimutts or Gen Z underages, either way kill yourselves.
Gotchu covered senpai
No. Nooo! NoOOooOOOOOOO!!!!!
This thing is an abomination that shat over backers and everyone who bought it extremely hard and burned literally the last vestiges of good will I've had for Kikescammer.
This is straight up bigger scam than Mighty No9, because anyone with a brain could see Mighty No9 being shit with a con artist like Inafune behind it, but this game actually had competent people behind it and it fucked up everything they could. Literally everything.
God I am still mad, way more mad than over Tranny Tyranny because the latter was a low budget ParaJew product from get go so I didn't have my expectations high.
God I'm angry, fuck you for reminding me user.
Enemy variety in FPS's
This
More gameplay, less story.
Well, you still get painkiller or whatever once in a while.
Small dev teams where the director has full control to make the game he wants. Not these thousand man AAA teams where they're trying to pander to the lowest common denominator for every single goddamn fucking game. It's why all these new releases outside the occasional indie are fucking bland and I find myself catching up on older shit I missed instead.
>#1 most funded rpg on kickstarter
Why do you hate immersive cinematic story user? Do you hate art?
Anyone who still gives nuObshitian and inXile any money after the bullshit associated with Pillars of Equality and Torment Tides of SJW Content Circumcision needs to be legitimately gassed.
Painkiller hasn't been good for about 13 years user, 10 if you count Painkiller Overdose.
Adventure games are mostly dead. But you could argue it's a good thing.
None of those games were made by original devs and are literally paid mods. That user is just stupid.
The only good Painkiller, the one made by original devs, is Black Edition aka base game + Battle out of Hell official expansion (naturally by original devs).
Everything after that was the publisher licensing mods as paid product after the original devs all left because the publisher was scum.
You know how many CRPGs have a hobo phase where you are useless for 5 hours before getting some decent skills and equipment?
Well Tides of Numenera has a reading phase that lasts the whole game, you can even stop in the middle of combat to have a conversation wich of course makes perfect sense, it's not like turn based combat is an abstraction for real time combat.
Seriously what where they thinking? The text is so bloated by meaningless shit and all you get to do is try your luck with an rng based skill check every once in a while for a little exp.
>Apply cat pubes to your face with maple syrup.
Holy shit I hate that fuckin game.
>Painkiller is made
>get fucked by publisher
>get bought by Epic Games and get fucked by them
>get independent
>have shitty games to their name, and their only good game has been dragged through the dirt
People Can Fly really can't catch a break
Level design.
Ethan Carter is a walking simulator but honestly it's the only legitimately good walking simulator made to date.
Also they're making actual Painkiller successor now in case you haven't seen the trailer on VGAs.
I love the fake out they made.
>Walking simulator gameplay shown through a forest
>From the creators of Ethan Carter
*Audience boos*
>Cut back to gameplay, forest morhps into creepy gothic-apocalyptic looking one
>AND PAINKILLER
>Gameplay turns into fast paced FPS that looks like new Painkiller but with modern graphics
Literally the best thing about VGAs this year.
Trailer here btw

cRPGs trying to adapt PnP system.
The problem with adventure games is that they usually have interesting premises or settings but get bogged down by utterly retarded puzzles
Yeah, they forgot about it so much, that in 2017 they not only released an enhanced edition of the game, but a spiritual successor.
Yup, sure seems forgotten to me.
puzzles are the only good thing about most adventure games
Reminder that UB has FINALLY been ported to EE

After what they did to Baldur's Gate, no.
Intelligent writing by individuals with some life experience needs to come back. It's very obvious most writers are young becuase they have liberal views a kin to that of sociology undergrads.
This basically. The industry is less about excited crews trying to make something fresh and more about big ass faceless corporations rehashing a working formula.
Kill urself.
Pretentiouscrap: Borement is shit tier for STORYFAGGOTS. Once you look at it without nostalgia - see - it becomes clear that it was a dead end of RPG design. There was no point in exploration, combat and any other gameplay element of RPG, interactivity was completely dead and the game would be better off as a VN.
Just think about it - every time you ask somebody for some Pretentiouscrap tips they will tell you to roll a character that can avoid most of the game all-together. It's ridiculous!
Adventure games, as in point and clicks are doing better than they've did like 10 years ago.
Many of them dropped puzzles in favor of being interactive movies though.
I did enjoy Technobabylon and Dropsy though. Decay was ok.
>nu-men-era
Talking is a free action though, do you even DnD?
how about reasonable file size?
At least Activision can't rape it anymore
Never forget
Breath of Fire
Pop'n twinbee
Pocky and motheer fucking Rocky
fantasy car races that aren't mario kart.
all the greatest games have meh combat. Zelda, Dark Souls (when compared to the second and third), Mario, Final Fantasy. The list goes on. Combat /= gameplay, and gameplay itself doesn't make the game memorable in the long term. The greatest books and movies will always be remembered as better than the greatest games and those have 0 gameplay. Think about that.
Torment 2 was fine. Not the greatest RPG ever but still better than most other recent RPGs like Pillars, Tyranny and DA: Inqusition.
>Numenera > Pillars
maybe when Pillars first came out, but with white march expansions and 3.0 pillars is the perfect crpg.
Who the hell writes like this?
Unlockables.
Used to be that having a specific skin, weapon, character or accessory meant the player using it was skilled because it had to be earned through gameplay. Now you just have to hope it pops in a lootbox.
If somebody can't criticize something without resorting to name calling, there's a good chance every other thing coming out of their mouth is going to be shallow and biased.
