I can think of a couple games but you're inside a space station / installation with only a few walks on actual space.

elite dangerous, eve online and a bunch of old 2d space shooters

Star citizen is pretty good

I play stellaris every now and then, its bascialy the only space/sci fi game I play

Here's some I like:
>kerbal space program (mod friendly)
>system shock 2 (1 is good too.)
>duskers
>space engineers
>mass effect (duh)
>alien isolation
That's all I got

I wouldn't recommend mass effect to my worst enemies. on the other hand there are literally no other modern space RPG's. its an almost untapped market

All of the Xeno games.

depends do you want to interact with people ? then eve online is really good since you can be anything a trucker a miner a trader a pirate

x3 is the single player equivalent with a bit more focus on actually piloting the ship

Homeworld 1, 2 and Cataclysm
Freelancer
Distant Worlds: Universe
Freespace 1 & 2
Space Station 13
Starsector
House of the Dying Sun Because it is the closest thing we are gonna get to Freespace 3
FTL
EVE: Online This is a social game. I highly recommended you don't play this by yourself. Join a Corp or an Alliance

System Shock 1 and 2
Dead Space 1 and 2
Prey 2017
Alien Isolation

Just buy Freespace 2, then download Knossos

>nobody mention the X series

Bunch of shitters the lot of you. OP, play X: Terran conflict or X3 Reunion, they're amazing.

Or Wing Commander Saga.

How's Rebel Galaxy? Some people compared it to Black Flag in space, is that a good point of reference? Does not having an y axis feel bad?

this literally the best singleplayer space experience there is

I haven't played it but the soundtrack is fantastic.

Remember me?

StarCraf

I tried playing X:TC but I couldn't get into it. The start was too slow and the game didn't explain things very well such as ship equipment and fitting.

Maybe I'll try it again soon after I read the manual.

QUICK!! Claim your vidya shipfu before some other user does!!

go on?

What do you like?

I loved the recent Prey.

Since noone has said it yet, Empyrion. It's like a simpler Space Engineers with more exploring/building.

wanted to see suggestions in general. I'm done for now with fantasy settings ala witcher/DA and want a change of scenery

Why does it seem like there are almost no sci-fi rpgs like mass effect? It being shitcanned hurts a lot more because of this.

Elite Dangerous

Nexus - The Jupiter Incident

I put a lot of hours in space engineers. It seems hollow when you master it, but it takes a lot of digging to get there.

Kerbal Space Program
Stellaris

Yeah the new Prey game captured the space feeling so well. Sittin in the Talos 1 lobby and seeing the shadows moving around because of the station spinning in space, the level of atmosphere is incredible. Flying around outside the station is also great.

Rogue System a.k.a DCS:spaceship

That's a good one. Shame that we wont see sequel.

There is Star Wolves series. Just avoid the second one.

I saw it for just a moment

>sequel to Nexus - TJI failed crowdfunding
>not once
>but twice

It hurts. Poor fuckers tried it before Tim "Steal the dough' Schaefferebowskisteingold made it popular.

Don't bother with that. The game is made by autistic German devs. Watch through this series to learn the basics:

Then, have the universe map and the wiki open at all times
Also download any mods as soon as you need something being done more efficiently.
The reason no one mentioned the X series up to that post is because you need to be autistic to some degree to enjoy those games.

I was going to support them, but I learned that they dropped low sci-fi for SPACE MAGIC.

That was just my colony ship. Has the cargo to be able it to make outposts on any planet/moon.

Freelancer. Exploration is amazing.

Hellion

>start of the game
>the beauty that is the Stiletto
>you lose it as your flagship and get the ayy lmao ship
>which looks fucking ugly as hell

I just love this design. Why did they have to make me switch over to the shittier looking ship?

X3: Albion Prelude - like EVE but singleplayer
Space Engine - just for the exploration and nice visuals

I never finish my big ships...lol

space rangers 2, remastered

trust me

>parts of the ship rotate to maintain gravity onboard

>mfw never playing this for the first time again

Looks familiar.

I really hate it that Babylon 5 never got a proper video game.
