They've come a long way, but damn did they fuck up a lot along the way.
I feel like the biggest problems is that they have so many fucking possibilities with the skill gem system and passives, but in the end, only a few select builds are actually viable.
Also, trading is too big of an aspect. Farming 7+ exalted orbs to afford the armor that fits your build is absolute hell
I meant the fact they focused on making it a multiplayer experience (tailoring drops with the assumption you HAVE to trade) coupled with the continued power-creep of new over old and the casualization of the game over time. New skills have been progressively easier to use for a long time, so much so that on things like Scorching Ray, it auto-tweaks your aim to focus on an enemy. The game is easier than it's ever been, a far cry from the original "hardcore Diablo-like experience" the game was originally going to be.
Itemdrops in general are shit, balance is shit, but other than that, it's fine.
If we had ingame AH it'd be 10/10 but MUH PLAYUR INTERAKSHUN
For all its flaws it's still a great game
And it's honestly ludicrously good as a free game
if your build requires a 7ex item for basic functionality, then its a shit build or end-of-season-fun-build
my favorite part of poe is inviting players to my nazi concentration camp themed hideout, I make them stand on a pile of dead bodies that are being fed into a furnace featuring a giant swastika logo, while I trade with them
Good ideas, best microtransaction implementation, fucked up balance and too much grinding.
also:
>M-MUH OBLIGATORY 6 LINK
>MUH LABIRYNTH
Labyrinth is fun. One of the better changes they made overall. Looking forward to 3.2's Ascendancy balance if nothing else.
>Deadeye may become usable
>best microtransaction implementation
>even after a sale you still need to pump 10€ into the game to get the currency stash tab
Warfarm has much better microtransaction system. Except the tenno-gen shit.
>Labyrinth is fun.
First two labs are piece of cake, third needs gear and fourth is viable only to some builds with proper gear. This is demented attitude.
>Looking forward to 3.2's Ascendancy balance if nothing else.
i.e. "NERF EVERYTHING THAT ACTUALLY WORKS".
>even after a sale you still need to pump 10€ into the game to get the currency stash tab
I was thinking about cosmetics, You are right about stash thought.
>I was thinking about cosmetics
You need to pay 50€ to get a decent looking armour pack
what the fuck is wrong with you?
Any build can do Lab if it can handle a fat boss. You just need patience. Which many people lack.
>NERF EVERYTHING
Well, you aren't wrong, but they always buff something too.
>Inb4 Chieftain gets a buff, Raider and Slayer a Nerf, and Elementalist remains irrelevant shit
>You need to pay 50€ to get a decent looking armour pack
what the fuck is wrong with you?
This is as far from pay2win as you can get while also providing money for developers. Imho it's a win-win situation.
It's the best game of its genre today, mostly because of the level tree and the gem system
I think the biggest problem is that they balance the game based on what the top 1% of players are doing, which makes sense since those are the ones that shower them with money and stay online for 10 hours a day, but creates a situation where at the same time every character have a stupidly high damage output and defense and it isn't enough because half of things late game can 1-shot you no matter why or will give you a debuff that destroy your build
Fair enough
the true Diablo III
The Main problem with the game is that it only rewards time spent rather than difficulty, there is no point on doing any sort of difficult content (there isn't much of it anyway), when you can just run some shitty map with no challange and a full sextant settup with a manipulated atlas and get 1000% the returns you would get for doing something even barely challenging
i mean, why would i do a map with a shitty layout or difficult boss with incredibly hard modifiers if i'm only going to get a few miserably chaos from it, and to make things worse if you even wanted to do some "Hard" content you are forced to farm your entry fee to even try that content
>you wanna do shaper ?
have fun buying T16 to farm for the fragments
>wanna do uber atziri ?
lol
>wanna kill chayula ?
better have hundreds of chaos to buy that breachstone
everything is made so that you need to spend time rather than push yourself for a challenge
Basically what Diablo 3 should have been. Definitely some diverse builds and some funny stuff you can do, albeit the "meta" is not nearly as diverse as it could be.
3.1 kind of fucked with the game's performance and introduced a lot of memory leaks. I wish they'd spend more time actually fixing stuff that's currently in the game rather than introducing more. They did introduce acts 6-10 and then revamped the post-act map system so I don't entirely blame them.
So far I've spent about 580 hours according to steam and I've spent a grand total of $25-ish. Would recommend.
Someone post the webm of connection related deaths and people raging again
Build diversity is great in 3.1thanks to fucking abyss jewels, with them you can make aalmost anything to work
Agreed.
Boss loot is the #1 example. The only bosses worth doing are easy ones and ones with fixed rewards, like Shaper and Uber or ones with potentially great rewards, like the Breachlords, most notably Xoph who has a higher chance of dropping his Heart and such.
>3.1 kind of fucked with the game's performance and introduced a lot of memory leaks.
was already wondering why I get freezes with 200 FPS for no apparent reason
I read some stuff about this, turns out you need to cap your frames or else you overload your cpu or some shit. Or restart the game every few hours if it's memory related.
Probably cap at ~150 fps for 144hz, ~65 for 60hz. Would recommend doing it through your drivers.
I wholly agree.
What happened to Mephisto and Baal runs
How in the world do you get 200 FPS
I feel like my fps starts out well but gets worse the more I play
I finished al the acts. What the fuck do I do now
Several things. First and foremost, go buy a bunch of shit off poe.trade or similar indexers to fix your Resists cause they probably suck shit. Maybe pick up a Unique weapon if you're an attack build. Then go do Merciless Labyrinth if you didn't already and then you can start mapping by talking to Zana the Master Cartographer.
Grind maps to get better items to grind harder maps maps to get even better items. This can end in two ways: Either you get cancer after or before a 6-linked unique. If before - grind more. If after - go be ded.
This is my shit currently. I'm doing minion memes
best and closest thing to diablo 2 experience. it started like a diablo 2 spiritual succesor, and then it grew an identity of it's own. this and warframe are some of the games i'm really happy to have seen grown from the start. i really wish to see more games that are so loved by their devs like these two
Hit C and click the Defenses tab and show me that.
...
Name a better arpg that is currently alive I'll wait
Grim Dawn is okay, but ultimately more clunky and boring
sold out to the lowest common denominator
spineless
soulless
all original developers have left
no orb girls
not him but wtf how do you even survive?
Okay, yeah. You're going to get annihilated in anything above a T1 and destroyed even in T1 because of those Resists. The game more or less expects you to have capped Resistances for maps. You'll wanna go to one of the trade indexes, pathofexile.com/trade or poe.trade and search up some gear. Figure out which ones you wanna keep (Stone of Lazhwar, Advancing Fortress, Bones of Ullr, and Tabula is all I'd suggest) and then search shit in the other slots to fill it. It's an annoying process but it'll save you a lot of suffering. I can help ya with the math if ya need it.
>b-but if i want to be top of the leaderboards i need to play the meta
>b-but to achieve the meta i need to trade with people
>for this reasons and ONLY these reasons, the game is shit
>no i cannot name anything better and if i attempt to, I'll ignore any criticism of the alternative game i present
there, now we can just.. not do that this thread. please?
Define "alive." Cause technically, Grim Dawn and Titan Quest are "alive," both having gotten recent big content updates. And some consider the former of the 2 to be better than PoE.
Specters keep me safe
back then item levels were capped at like lvl 70 but mobs cant still go to lvl 100
thats what made it hard and enjoyable
>korean mmo mixed with ARPG
no thanks.
>Get hype every time I get a unique drop
>Remember that 90% of uniques aren't even worth 1 chaos
CAN*
Man this game is so close to being really fucking good.
Two major problems.
Balance: Holy shit this game has terrible balance. You either play standard where there is absolutely no punishment for dying and when fighting bosses, if you die their hp doesn't reset. So you can just throw a million bodies at bosses and eventually win.
If you play hard core, you die once your hard core account is over. There is no middle ground, this is just poor balance.
Micro-transactions: These are mostly cosmetic and QoL which is fine, but what isn't is that the average person is priced out of most cool looking micro-transactions. Full body sets start at a minimum of $40 and go up to +$400 for one armour set. That's absurd, it only is profitable because of whales.
This is a larger problem because some of the point of these games is getting gear to make yourself look cool, and this game kind of lacks that because there is a very limited amount of sets in the basic game. At best you will look like a medieval knight if you don't drop quite a few dollars.
It's ok I like grim dawn more
They need to make mapping more interesting. Trying to juggle with elder and shaper areas is a cool idea but it doesn't really work out when map drops are so fucking random. Spreading Elder past t10 is pretty much impossible unless you are stocked with maps on that path or you buy them from other players. They really need to fix mapping somehow, either make at least one map drop from a boss and make it so that it can't be that much lower in tiers. I just completed a fucking T13 map and all I got from it was a T6 map. Fuck you.
>repeat every mistake diablo 2 did but make them ten times worse
>balance game for the most autistic minmaxing and poopsocking
>balance character building and minmaxing on putting everything on hp and most of the le ebin "u can do anything" shill tree is just noob traps
>balance game for mandatory player to player trading
>balance gameplay for auto logout auto potion macro hardcore autists who are a hundred times more autistic than people who normally play this genre of games
>balance gameplay for everything oneshotting the player and player oneshotting everything
>balance gameplay so your character being ridiculously overpowered with maxed defenses and maxed dps is the intended BASELINE so your character sucks monkey fuck if it's not minmaxed and perfect
>game content is nothing but grinding infinite maps to get currency to trade for items to grind higher level maps so clearspeed without dying is the only thing that matters
Elder/Shaper war is interesting, but they really fucked it up.
>Once you explore a few Shaper maps, Zana tells you to go explore more of them
>When you do, irrelevant if your Atlas is ready or not, Elder shows up
>The optimal way to spread Elder is to actually ignore him and build up your Atlas until he shits out some Shaper's Orbs/manifests with his Guardians
>Elder/Shaper loot, just like with everything else, is shit and only the top tier high Ilvl bases/REALLY LUCKY drops are worth more than nothing
>Elder Guardian loot sucks, just like 99% of all Boss Loot
>Elder Guardians don't even have dedicated Unique items like their Shaper coutnerparts
>GGG teased something special may happen to them if the Elder manages to put one of his Guardians atop a Shaper Guardian
>Nothing special happens and doing so is borderline impossible
>Watcher's Eye is easily the most overpowered item in the game and has a shitload of potential rolls while also not even being guaranteed to drop in a Red Elder fight, so finding a good one is near-impossible
>Because the extra loot all sucks, all Shaper/Elder influence does to a map is add in some extra mobs that are either piss easy, slow your damage down, or are Null portals and annoy the living shit out of you
>Shaper isn't guaranteed to even influence a boss/spawn an Agent of the Void and even if he does, the extra loot is still worthless
>Elder doesn't do shit to bosses until he physically manifests and even then only on 5 of them total
GD and TQ are def better than PoE but not by much.
>Some fag on Reddit showcases that until an Abyss Jewel rolls modifiers with no weapon affixes (dagger, claw, sword, etc.), it will always roll dagger, claw, sword, etc. affixes and never cycle to another weapon base while Chaos spamming unless it rolls 3 or 4 mods that all have no weapons (really rare)
>Within 12 hours, they "patched" it with a note saying "The purpose of these restrictions is to prevent incompatible mods from spawning, not to provide guided Chaos Orb crafting."
>no orb girls
see this screenshot
I believe he's referring to the Sisters Bound, not the Risen Sisters.
Do the acts and the game just stops. No fun builds to play. Abyss added nothing. Not fun.
There is no point in playing PoE. The game is made for mentally ill manchildren.
>my favorite part of poe is inviting players to my nazi concentration camp themed hideout, I make them stand on a pile of dead bodies that are being fed into a furnace featuring a giant swastika logo, while I trade with them
Screenshot? I'm a lot lazier, I just surround the waypoint with bums staring at the guy.
>There is no point in playing games
fifty
How good is grim dawn?
I played PoE but i don't like online stuff
I like GD a lot, although after 500 hours in it doing the story x3 times per build has gotten stale on me. I think it and the expansion are discounted on steam until the sale ends tomorrow. If you got
thanks dude, i'll give it a try then, i get bored quickly with arpgs, mostly like getting sick legendary items and getting stronger, non that into making many playthroughs
>Elder Guardians don't even have dedicated Unique items like their Shaper coutnerparts
This is incorrect
no German localization = no buy
my friend's a retard and incapable of speaking even the smallest amount of English, cannot play with him until they introduce the Herrenrasse language
for maps you only get 6 portals though
...
>that todd size
>those todd shoes
fuck, I lost hard
1500 hours on it, they just need to power up other skills in order to reach the old meta instead of nerfing the old meta. You will end up slowing down the game pace with that.
Then surely you can pick them out?
pathofexile.com
That's all the Uniques added this major patch except Magna Ecplipsis and 1 I forget. Cause thus far, everything I've seen and read is all drops from random shit and Elder/Lichs.
Constrictor has Beltimber Blade, and Grelwood Shank
Enslaver has Memory Vault and Vulconus
Purifier has Leper's Alms, and something else
No idea for Obliterator
Huh. Thanks then if true. I've yet to drop literally any Unique off any of them, so I wouldn't fully know. Seems weird for Enslaver to have Memory Vault. Seems like something more for Purifier.
>MUH PLAYUR INTERAKSHUN
They always throw that around when asked about the topic but the only interaction there is is "ty". Having an AH would be so much better, not to mention less time consuming.
Best dungeon/rpg/mmo/action rpg
Ever made
There's a Map stash now and it's an absolute necesity so make that $30.
Actually not true. There's very clearly a large volume of people either working together or independently to manipulate the market for profiteering either in-game or out. In a regular AH type setting, they'd just instantly buy everything below a certain price and put it up for auction at their price before anyone else could so much as touch a purchase button. If it's a full AH with buyouts and bidding, they'd always snipe assuming price isn't above a fixed threshold per-item. You basically wouldn't be able to use it period.
>First two labs are piece of cake, third needs gear
And this is why everyone should play SSF at some point. Otherwise you're a fucking pleb who thinks you need gear to get through Merciless Lab. Only thing you need to clear Merciless Lab is 4000 effective health. Thats it. You've let meta build sites and bots farming your items for you rot your fucking brain.
Game's Vsync autocaps it to 60fps. Not capping the FPS while playing Path of Exile is like driving in a freeway with the first gear.
All you need is something that can kill Izaro. You can technically do Merciless Lab at like 2.5K HP if you got enough Fire Res to not instantly rip on a fire trap.
Yeah but suppose you play SSF or the very first league character, you don't need specific gear to clear Merciless Izaro. You don't need to have specific gear for Endgame Lab either, only problem with Endgame Lab is it takes a lot of time until you find all the trials.
new league when?
While I see your point, the game is still balanced around you trading for stuff. Just because you CAN go without trading and just grinding your face off, it's not balanced for that.
What the fuck was I trying to say, Jesus.
Just because you CAN go without trading and just go grind your face off doesn't mean you SHOULD.
Funny you should ask.
Garbage
The game is not balanced for trading, its essentially balanced for Self-Found Co-op. Which is the ideal way to play the game. AH is a fucking retarded idea for an ARPG where you're supposed to farm and grind for loot. Ok so you buy all the items immediatly for your character, no reason to actually play the game anymore other than farm for currency except farming for currency is also meaningless thanks to Auction House trivializing absolutely everything about the game. 99,9% of all items found in the game are now completely useless and the inflation of AH prizes goes through the fucking roof, incentivizing the devs to make sought out items even more rare so that not every single player in the game walks around with the same goddamn items. As a vicious circle people start farming for currency and only that one currency leaving everything else on the ground so they could get the ultra-rare sought out items faster. The game becomes incredibly boring as bots do all that work four times more efficiently than the most autistic Poe player in the world. Now nobody is actually playing the game anymore and the game is just bots farming currency nobody is going to use.
And Path of Exile fails the same way as Diablo 3 does. They balanced the whole game around Auction House and it is the primary reason the game is unplayable shit, sure they got rid of it and tried to fix the balance later on but thats like building a house from faulty equipment and blueprints and then trying to fix it after it collapsed into rubble. Auction House is a fucking terrible idea for the game. It should only be reserved for Standard only if they would ever introduce it.
>The game is not balanced for trading
>They balanced the whole game around Auction House
Learn to read, later paragraph talks about Diablo 3.
>Get half-decent at the game
>Getting 20-60 ex worth of gear in a week or two becomes easy
>All the chase uniques are gone except for try-it-once-and-get-bored-memehunter
How do I keep playing the game past the first week or two of the league?
>And Path of Exile fails the same way
In the scenario where AH is introduced to it. Do you have reading comprehension issues? I get this is called an imageboard but learn to fucking read.
