Why do Japanese mechs use hands to hold guns instead of fixed guns to the mech itself, and why are they using melee weapons?

because it's cool
Hands make it easier to grab melee weapons and other objects on battlefields.
Also
makes sense if you take them to war on a massive scale like they do here
run out of ammunition? no prob take your boys gun he just got blown up
need to change out your loadout? sure pick this up that we already built and have n stock instead of having to swap out your entire fucking arm
Japs see mechs as just giant humanoid robots while the West usually sees mechs as war machines.
Because you're a fucking faggot, faggot
Interchangeability of weapons.
And if your robot has guns for hands then you're really just driving an ugly tank (looking at you battletech)
Some Japanese mechs have integrated weapon systems rather than arms but it's rare. Only examples I've seen is armored core and zoids.
I found some mechs in Macross have integrated weapons as well.
because a e s t h e t i c
they are more than just a machine to nips like they have a soul
Todd put it best
>they don't let you roam and do whatever you want
>That's what we do
Todd...
>what are vulcans
Everything else about robots can be answered with pic related.
Because in UC lore minovsky particles allow mass to weigh less and the Gundam metaverse has proven time again having mobile suits with hands is far superior to have armed extensions only. Once they run out of ammunition or energy, they're little more than dead weight in comparison to another hand that might take a weapon from an enemy unit or operate something else.
So when you run out of ammo you can fight back with something useful
>fixed guns to the mech itself
a lot of them do, depends on the franchise.
I think if you run out of ammo mid battle it's mean something went horribly wrong.
So you can grab other things.
if nobody had hands there'd be no weapons to take
>allow mass to weigh less
Explain what you mean by this.
Japanese mechs are both figurative and literal vehicles for their protagonists, so it makes sense they match the human form and features very closely.
That being said, my favourite mech designs are still from a Japanese game.
There are automated Units, Fuck Huge armored Gundams and hyperspeed travel available to huge fleets it's not unreasonible to expect large number of enemies at any given time.
I wish vs. hadn't flopped. I really enjoy it but can hardly find games or rooms where I won't get stomped.
mass=/=weight, that's basic physics
join the /m/ rooms when they host it. i win about 80% of my matches in lobbies, are you playing default controls? if so, dont
Because they work as huge power armors. Good Gundam pilots can even dodge shots by moving the head sideways like in DBZ.
Being able to do that and fly at high speeds, melee weapons are a plus to have. What? do you think soldiers don't carry knifes or use shields?
I was maybe at 50% in the /m/ rooms but I see the threads there are like weeks old at this point, how often are rooms even up these days?
What do you recommend instead of default controls?
So you can go stabby mode if you feel like it
rooms are up generally every weekend, but the usual host is doing holiday related stuff.
I just dont recommend default controls because where boost dive is set is really awkward, it makes it hard to step dive while preforming an action. Go with whatever you feel is best, I have my boost dive set to L1.
Same reason fighter jets have hardpoints to attach weapons to. Not saying those mechs are realistic, but the hands make a bit of sense from a modularity standpoint.
>minovsky particles allow mass to weigh less
No they don't
>Titus form of AGE-1 has an SPD
>go into casuals and SPD people
>no woundwort
AoZ sucks.
The bigger question is why do they have heads when they could just have cameras all around
That fucking head ornament holy shit
i fucking love knife legs
the woundwort and dra-c look great
Because sometimes you need to make with the glowing.
So you can reload and pick up more weapons.
Why nit give them 4 arms?
go home stupid jovian
This user knows.
>forefront
>ever coming out
Adding arms and melee weapons to ships or mechs makes things cooler.
