Danganronpa probably as V3 didn't fuck up the series as much as ZTD fucked up the Zero Escape series (even if V3s ending was hot garbage.)

Probably danganronpa which is weird because I'd say 999 and virtues are better than all 3 DR games, but Zero Time Dilemma is so weak it drags down the entire series.

All 3 DRs are very good however. If you hadn't played either series I'd still recommend you play all the games

I really loved Zero Escape series. A friend recommend me to play Daganronpa but I can't stand all the anime designs. It feels weaboo as fuck, at least from the aesthetics-

ZTD permanently destroyed Zero Escape due to misguided direction.

Zero escape is more interesting and has more creativity put in it, but danganronpa is overall more consistant with its quality and appeal.

The creator may be sick of making new ones, but all three main games are great. Hell, they improved over time, 1 is easily the weakest overall.

Its has an alright overarching story but all of the paths are initially really short and it takes you about 20 hour to even have a vague idea what's going on.

On top of that a bunch of the choices seem massively obvious that they're going to end in a bad ending. I think one of them is literally "take this poison?" and if you do, you... get poisoned, die, BAD ENDING.

Zero Escape unquestionably. I honestly enjoyed ZTD more than V3, at least ZTD took meaningful risks even if it was rushed out the door. DR1 is derivative schlock that isn't worthy of shining 999's shoes, DR2 has a bit more of its own identity but is still inferior to VLR.

For me Danganronpa is that series I played between releases of Zero Escape and Ace Attorney. It's entertaining but leaves a LOT to be desired in terms of story and gameplay. It's the gaming equivalent of Mirai Nikki or Code Geass R2. If they make a fourth game they need to shake things up dramatically, V3's twists were just a poor attempt to hide its lack of overall creativity.

I couldn't disagree more. The first one has the best structure and the best characters.

It has some of the absolutely weakest cases of the entire series and it's full of "filler characters" exactly the same as the later games

I probably enjoyed zero escape more even if ZTD was a complete train wreck. I was surprised at how bad DRV3 was, obviously it wasn't as bad as ZTD but it still gave me the same impression of "ruining" the series as ZTD did. At this point I just want to see both series buried but I assume DR will keep going.

I'd say Danganronpa is the better series. It has amazing music and a great style. The mini games are serviceable and you can push all the dumb shit about hope and despair out of the way and just focus on enjoying a mystery game where people are forced to kill for their freedom.
Zero Escape is heavily tied with it's stupid sci-fi mumbo jumbo shit. The majority of the game is spent on these basic ass puzzles and the twists are all nonsensical and just stupid.

999 is still better than any danganronpashit.

The only good danganronpa moment was chapter 5 in DR2.

ZE was held back by zero budget and thus rushing everything, Danganronpa went to shit simply because the writer is a hack, all that money on 2 anime projects just to butcher the series

If you don't like it now then probably not. I loved 2 from the start simply because it fully embraces the fact that it's a video game down to every detail. The opening case was also absolutely killer.

First one I can think of the the flying magician explanation in Turnabout Big Top.

By serviceable I mean they're just being glorified multiple choice questions just with a lot of style.
Danganronpas mini games are all condensened into their trial which lasts at most an hour long with only 6 per game.
Each mini game takes like 3 minutes to complete which means out of like, a 60 hour vn you spend like 30-45 minutes of it doing these mini games, which I think makes them a lot more forgivable on being bad.
I found the majority of ZE puzzles to be all boring filler that dragged on way longer then they needed to.

Sorry if I wasn't clear but when I tried to say before both series have their retarded shit in it, but with DR you can at least ignore it. Practically all of it is in the final moments of the games.

just emulate and power through the lack of flowchart, it'll be worth it.

Just play the steam version.
It has voice acting, you don't have to replay the game and rooms over and over again non-ant resolution, and the last puzzle is just nitpicky autistic shit, a non-issue.

V3's 1 and 6 was amazing. 3, 4 and 5 was really good. While the 2nd case was lame and the character interaction between the cases were boring, V3 is still my favorite.
Problem with danganronpa 1 and 2 are just overall weak cases pulling the game down. Nagito carried Danganronpa 2 harder than any character I've ever seen.
Also, V3s prologue is way too long

The parts in the game where you had to write in the answer was one of the only good things about ZTD.
