ok guys real talk, underated gems for Nintendo DS, need more games in my library
Ok guys real talk, underated gems for Nintendo DS, need more games in my library
This game was ace.
Also really liked Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, and Infinite Space.
DS had so many good underrated games.
This was a fantastic platformer.
Pic related.
My infinite niggers
Henry Hatsworth
Dementium series
Big Bang Mini
Soul Bubbles
may look a bit like a kids game, but the gameplay is unique and quite fun
The Adventure Time DS games are pretty fun, they're pretty much Zelda homages
Feel free to include 3DS titles.
This was the best.
So many hidden gems for the DS. Development costs not too high, and nowhere else to put small niche indie titles - no mobile phones out at the time.
This and its sequel, Champions.
...
also this site has loads of great games listed and described
I'll never forgive them for killing Nia in the stupidest way possible. Game was pretty good but storywise it had so much dumb shit going on.
Great sequel to a cult classic that went largely unnoticed because EU only. Don't schleep
Contra 4 is fun.
...
Metroidvania Mega Man: Loli Digimon edition
You have a monster sidekick that levels up depending on what you feed it and you can revert it and evolve it into various trees of types and shit. It's pretty gud.
>4 fucking ace attorney games
>999, almost universally considered the best DS game ever made, is nowhere to be seen
W e w. Lad.
Did you finish the game dude?
What was the game that was based on a nip TV show where you played versions of old console games, and had to complete challenges in them. You slowly unlocked more advanced consoles as the game went on.
That game was excellent.
>999, almost universally considered the best DS game ever made
i agree 999 is good, but it's not "almost universally considered" shit but a solid game.
>all that effort to make a list
>forgot the best DS game
Well yeah, VNs aren't games.
I quit playing after I beat Taranis and never felt the urge to pick it back up.
Please tell me Nia comes back.
retro game challenge
well described
it's a pity that noone follows in its path, because this game shows exactly how you could make sort of (as much as i hate the term) outdated games attractive again
999 hadn't come out yet you fucking moron.
>UPDATED ON APRIL 5, 2009
...
This and the countless other FOTM games Sup Forums used to drool over, like Princess Debut.
And holy crap I can't even remember any others. That's depressing.
Thanks lads!
Gonna download this and play it again.
That list is outdated. SJ wasn't out at the time.
TWEWY
Yeah I noticed that after posting.
no she doesnt, Poor Nia didnt deserve that shit
Infinite Space 2 when?
Although they really have to fix the combat
>no spectrobes
meh list
Umihara Kawase Shun, it's a collection of the first two games. If you have a 3DS the next game in the series is on the eShop so you can have every game on the go.
Ketsui Death Label is a fun boss rush shmup
I thought she came back at part 2 as a villain having used the MC to find treasure
its been so long since I played this game
I wanted this game so bad but didn't have the like 50 bucks it was
This one's also on Steam for the record.
...
What the fuck happened with the 3DS version of this?
romhustler.net
Still worth playing. It's very unique. Just use Drastic emulator on your phone, if you have android
The Dark Spire
Amazing soundtrack too.

not the sister the mentor
is it really good i played it on my friends ds for 5 mins before i got bored
Maybe you just don't like classic dungeon crawlers. It didn't see so well and copies are ridiculously expensive now. Just the cart is like $80.
Played the everlasting shit out of this, i wish the sequel also got a console port. Alas.
Got stucked at the first boss fight, i'm extremely noob at this. I should probably give it another chance.
The japs got two sequels to this game - one on DS and another on 3DS. It's a shame they didn't release them here, cause the challenges are hard to do when you can't read moon-runes.
what if someone updates the list?
not me though, i'm a lazy cunt.
>Game cost an arm and a Porsche
God dammit
You could always emulate, plus ds flash carts are cheap as fuck now.
cheat the shit out of it once you do the game gets a lot funner. Its the grind that kills this game.
>Dungeon crawlers
Shit that might explain it, they make me very nervous for some reason. I blame SMT and Persona
Also on GBA. A nice action game with a cute waifu.
Pretty good first person rpg for the ds.
...
Such an underrated game.
Replaying it for the first time since release on GBA and if it just got a modern remake with 3d graphics to allow better platforming and more atmospheric lighting, as well as remapped controls for the tether now that the buttons are there, you'd have such a fantastic game.
Too bad the dev has been long defunct, and this is one of the only games.
Haha, what the fuck? This game's expensive now. I remember buying it CIB with the soundtrack and everything for 99 cents at gamestop
Found this gem at cex the other day and couldn't resist. I remember it being the most intense game I've ever played as it made me sweaty as fuck when I pirated it like 10 years ago.
I finished it today, it's by far the most skill demanding game I've played for the touch screen in the NDS, I was playing one of the last missions that was a patient with kiryiaki and I was at my N2DSXL and boy oh boy, that big screen is a huge handicap. Suturing big cuts was so hard that I switched the game back to my old NDS and the mission then went smooth as butter.
Don't know if it's underrated or not, but I think it's quite the gem for the system and definitely scratch and itch for those who feel like having a challenge.
Anyone that has played the sequel can tell me if it's any good?
Pretty cute platforming game, the final boss gave me trouble I remember since the section where you need to mash like crazy always killed me instantly.
holy shit this soundtrack. Do i have it in me to try again
wasn't this on GBA?
Damn, if true you got a really good deal, I can't even think of the last time I saw a complete first edition copy being sold.
Still maybe one of my favorite games ever made. It's weird, it has a lot of flaws, but it has so much personal charm and feeling of that "80's space anime" that it just completely won me over. The ending to "Part 1" was climatic as fuck.
more of the same i believe. My brother was hooked though.
There was an gba version but it's was 2/2.5ish game.
>ctrl-f "ghost trick"
>0 results
I played this one recently. This game and its prequel are unbelievably comfy, one of those games were the atmosphere is just perfect.
I was excited when I hacked my 3ds because I stumbled upon pic related which looked sorta like Cing style and apparently was made with the same director.
But, it has been one of the most disappointing "games" I've ever played. The story is pure garbage, the pacing unbearable, there are plotholes here and there, it's a straight up VN with a couple of failstates, there is barely any personality in the characters and it ends with a cliffhanger for some reason.
Christ, my hopes for an end to the Hotel Dusk trilogy have banished after experiencing this, I will be forever upset about this.
>my name is Anonymous and I have no idea what the words "underrated gems" mean
OP asked for more niche stuff, Sup Forums jerks off ghost trick to the moon.
You don't have to post your favorite game every thread.
Yeah I totally agree. Feel like the original had more of an "ominous" feel to it so I really like that they went in an even more comfy direction with Last Window.
Saw you link pic of Chase and immediately got hyped since I read it was trash everywhere and thought you were saying you liked it. Same boat after all, forever keeping them balls blue
Do you want to chill after work with some match three, but also have insanely deep RPG mechanics such as crafting items, assigning skill points, and travelling around a huge map? Do you remember before F2P bullshit was cancer?
Get this fucking amazing game on ebay for 5 dollars or on steam for .99 cents right now.
Both games have unofficial translations with the 2nd game having a full translation and the 3rd being 50% complete, hell even the first game got translated to english so it could keep the original voices and title, "retro game master" my ass.
look at all this good old school RPG shit on the same screen, you know this is the ultimate chill game
Not only can you capture enemies instead of killing them (with a different puzzle battle system for each one) you can also train the animal types as mounts, and learn a specific spell from each enemy. And every single mount can be leveled INDIVIDUALLY.
Truly a fantastic game, and much better than the followup games. Infinitely better than the marvel shit on phones.
Other good game
I disagree.
>Puzzle Quest
>Chill
I think you meant get pissed as fuck. PQ is the game that makes me the most mad.
Kino fucking thread. DS has arguable the biggest library of quality titles/hidden gems, on par with PS2
I really need to invest in a new shelf for my DS stuff
After the devs split off and made the sequel (prequel) I had to support them. Haven't heard from them in a while though
>Age of Mythology exists
>But Age of Empires is more popular
>want to make Age of Mythology for other system but afraid it'll flop
>Call it Age of Empires Mythologies
Genious
>that first print dark spire
>not "almost universally considered"
Read ONM before spouting your autism faggot
Damn user, you have even more than me.
NTSC boxes look so much better too, with all that artwork. And there were so many games that just never made it to Kangarooland.
The sequel is 5x better, the first game was extremely picky with the controls.
Even better, play the wii games. One would think the ds would control better, but the wii games are 10x better.
Why user?
Maybe the game dont look good visually, and the move for turn is boring but the AI in hard difficult is also good
New game when?
This game was really good, it sucks Cing didn't survive past the DS era.
I remember looking this up and everyone was shitting on it because it had no gameplay I believe.
Can you say something positive about it?
>proudly displaying THE furfag game alongside dark spire
invalidates the whole collection, die
>THE furfag game
wut?
It's a point n click adventure like other Cing games like Hotel Dusk and Trace memory it's not everyones cup of tea but for those that like that sort of things its good.
still pissed the sequel never got localized
honestly im not that pissed, its a generic jrpg with srw music. I played it once and never looked back.
>tfw sold my Orcs and Elves game years ago
>this thread makes me want to get it again
It's like $6 on Amazon right now so that's pretty good.
I always wanted to play pic related as well but it was always $50 or more whenever I found it, worth it?
Soma Bringer, had a lot of fun with that one.
Decide whether to doll your customers or jew the fuck outta them.
I don't see the appeal in a ds collection let alone a gba collection. Ds games are ridiculous under produced, expensive and rare these days. Finding a ds game in complete condition is rare as fuck. I just bought the r4 card and call it day. I have over 80 games on it.
its quite shit. it may look gorgeous but combat is horrible
Children of Mana is pretty good mindless hack and slash if you're looking for action games. it kept my interest for many hours. (some nice art here)
Although I don't think it holds a candle to Castlevania.
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
