Reach.

>we left microsoft because they were too controlling
>signs contract with Activision

The dumb ass devs think they know whats best when they have no fucking clue and even their die hard fans are begging and pleading for them to stop and fix their game. If were talking about Destiny 2 that is.

They went wrong when they paired this Activision because all they do is fuck everything up and try and nickle and dime everyone for everything.

How should we know? We didn't work there when they were good. Companies hire and fire people every other month The guys who made your favourite videogames probably don't work there anymore.

This.

Thread's over, Reachfags kindly go kill you are selves.

Activision

You actually have microsoft to thank for the Halo franchise as Bungie wantsd to stop at 2. Surprise, surprise they didnt actually like halo (for whatever reason)

Maybe Bungie were never that good, and only Microsoft's know-how concealed their true shittiness.

I liked reach stop bullying it now.

some things that would better Destiny 2
>give competitive crucible a ranking system for sweaties and seasonal rewards of classic weapons such as Eyasluna as participation rewards
>make quickplay have increase ability recharge rates for casuals to have fun in
>strike-scoring system
>strike-specific loot
>PvE and PvP balancing made separate
>greens and blues upgradable to legendary via a grindable process
>armor respec for mobility, recovery and resilience
>monthly content drops of new gear and weapons
>give prestige activities exclusive rewards
>give sparrows horns to beep
>fire deej

when they added terminals into halo 3 which retconned the EU and utterly fucked the notion that humanity descended from the forerunners.

>WE WUZ HUMANS 100,000 YEARS AGO N SHIET

that was funny
I remember reading that, like they were onto better things after finally being free of microsoft and Halo.
Then they get with Activision and it's turned out exactly as expected.

Making a new bad guy would have been hard. Better change everything.

Check this interview out.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=JW10kMwhGa8

Apparently making content is "too hard" for them now.

Fuck Activision and fuck Bungie.

I thought that wasn't until Halo 4. There was that comic in 3 that had a forerunner studying ancient humans.

They kicked out two of the main Halo guys during development of Destiny.

They turned ebil

>making cotent is too hard
>makes dozens and dozens of fancy skins and locks them behind rng
Making content isnt hard they just want to make a quick buck befor the game dies

I love the old books, especially Fall of Reach. Couldnt play Halo without reading it first. But come on man, Greg's Forerunner series is GOAT.

the halo buttholes

>"Can't you see? Belief in the Mantle sealed our doom! Weakened our [protectorates], bred dependence and sloth. Our [so-called Guardianship] has stripped those we would keep safe of any capacity for self-defence!
Bungie pretty much lined everything up to turn into the 343 Travissty we have now.

Bungie is a mediocre studio. They were made to look better under the guidance of MS and with access to their resources.

This is what exactly happened.

This

Greg Bear set up so much good shit that was pissed away?

Remember that Halo 4 concept art trailer that looked like we were going to get a Halo where Chief would be alone on an alien world?

Microsoft is when it went wrong

Halo was supposed to be a new age marathon that saved PC gaming from Microsoft domination and instead cemented their bullshit in the living room video game console

Microsoft is literal cancer

When most of their end game content and loot is behind lootboxes. Fuck off

Halo was never going to be finished under Bungie, Microsoft put both teams together in Washington and finally finished the game. They couldn't even get the original Halo multiplayer to work until Microsoft put the Oni team on that.

But didnt microsoft hate Halo initially?

Yea, I second this. This was the beginning of the decline for me

If I remember Bungie loved it but didn't like any of Bungie's story ideas so they worked with them on the story.

All accounts of internal stuff though is Activision has actually been pretty hands off. They basically don't give a shit as long as they get paid.

Seems like Bungie needed someone to control them to actually make good shit. Allegedly both D1 and D2 were rebooted about a year before their release. That's not the sign of a well-organized company.

*Microsoft loved it

The same thing that went wrong with every other developer. Seriously, tell me one developer who hasn't succumbed to the modern developer shitfest that we see today.

>Rockstar
GTA V is proof they've gone to shit, expect RDR2 to blow
>Blizzard
All top developers are gone and their games are fan-wank trash
>Ubisoft
Hasn't been good since mid 2000s when they stopped trying with Splinter Cell Conviction
>EA
Around the same time period as Ubisoft, Need for Speed Most Wanted last good game from them
Who else is there? They've all followed suit. Don't even get me started on Jap companies like Kojima Productions and Square Enix. All talent and originality is gone. What sells is now the only thing that matters. We need a crash, now.

...

Also, I would argue that 343's problem is they are too wedded to Bungie's methods.

They have interesting ideas but chicken out of them. Both the Halo 4 concept art trailer and Halo 5 E3 trailer are strong evidence of this. On both, Chief is shown alone in an alien world.

But in the games, there's none of that; it's the same old HUA marine squad scenarios.

activision is actually not the bad guy here. Bungies incompetence is solely to blame for destiny 2's shit. the microtransaction bullshit wouldn't be a problem if destiny 2 was actually a good game but yet again bungie delivered a shit product

No it was H3. 343 expanded on it with H4 and the Bear novels.

But the only good Halo games we got after that were... 3.

So does one game outweigh all the other shit?

I can blame Halo 4's direction on Don Mattrick, I find it kind of strange how 2011 we were "mystery, discovery, and exploration" and then in 2012 we were "Hollywood Blockbuster" I smell corporate meddling. Halo 5 was most likely due to Halo 4's writer and the campaign team leaving and the Spartan Ops team taking over along with Tim Longo taking Josh Homes place.

The Halo 4 and 1 and 2 anniversary terminals are genuinely good, though. I've happily watched them many times.

Then we got no terminals in Halo 5...

you forgot sparrow racing and they should add weapons and power ups to pretty much make wipeout

I dont remember if it was D1's initial Composer or main writer but some big wig at Bungie got sacked by Activision and sued em for a ton after. Really doubt Activision w0ould be willing to be "hands off" with anything.

Speaking of Destiny 2, I got duped by D2. NEVER FUCKING AGAIN. Bungie's dead to me.

We've all been there friendo.

One word. "Brink"

Marty O'Donnell.

AAAAHHHHHH

Anyone feels halo's story telling suffers from the fact that it has to be about chief and no one else? Feels like a lot of potential is being wasted there. Its like if every starwars film ever made was about anakin skywalker and no one else, no luke, no han just anakin.

Spore.

>

Luke Smith grew inside it like a cancer

THEY KEEP REBOOTING AND THROWING ALL THEIR PROGRESS AWAY BECAUSE FUCK YOU

FUCKING TWICE

FINISH

THE

FIGHT

>there will never be a Halo Gravemind game made by bungie

>Had every chance to learn from the mistakes of destiny 1 and make destiny 2 a good game
>For every improvement that could have been there, Bungie doubled down on awful systems, mechanics, 'rewards', and awful, awful, fucking terrible backsliding in terms of content
The best I can say about D2 is the PC prot is amazingly polished and firing your rooty tooty point and shooty's feels good. If it weren't for the latter the game would be a fucking failure on every level a loot and shoot should be.

Maybe Bungie was never that great to begin with and they just happened to catch lightning in a bottle with Halo 1.

nice english you fucking idiot

Just like Bethesda. All of their games are weak. Morrowind was a mistake and that's why it's so good.

No

When they started consisting on a diet of their of farts and urine.

>Destiny winning awards for anything other than soundtrack.

This is where we are as a culture. We've grown to not only accept mediocrity, but celebrate it.

Halo 4's story of Cortana dying would have carried a ton more weight if Chief was alone on an alien world.

Halo 4 nevertheless does a great job of setting up an arc for Chief, of him rediscovering his humanity. Halo 4's ending oozes potential...

Which Halo 5 pisses away by bringing back Cortana, destroying the entire point of Chief's arc.

Greg Bear added a ton of interesting stuff to the Halo universe, but the narrow focus on Chief and the millitary tone means we'll never even get to play as Bornstellar Didact in a flashback level.

A great spin-off Halo game could be something like an Arbiter or Bornstellar game, but instead we get shit like Spartan Ops.

I would love a Bornstellar Halo game, Nintendo should make a 2D Metroid game that takes place in the past starring Grey Voice the Chozo that taught Samus everything she knows after Metroid 5 of course.

It basically is this. Bungie was formed by guys who were into sci-fi novels and they tried replicating themes from the novels they read, in all their games, and they were basically just fumbling along. Halo was an accident. The fact they moved on from Halo to Destiny seals the deal too.

Why did they fire marty?

Marathon at least. They've never been able to make a halfway decent game.

>Amazing PC port

Well you should thanks to Vicarious Vision for
stable port and blame Bungie for being a dumbass.
