This is the only game in recent memory I can remember having an OST that was basically Williams-tier.

Reminder that the Girl is the strongest AR card

I need a new Kid Icarus game, the multiplayer was surprisingly fun and the campaign was one of the best shooter campaigns I've played in years.

>Thought this game was an indication of the standard for 3DS games in the future
How wrong I was. Poor little machine got relegated to cranking out 6/10 JRPGs too soon in its lifespan.

What was that? Post best OST? youtube.com/watch?v=CY5SjTXr6Ls

Don't mind if i do

Move aside.

It's not as memorable as other tracks but I always loved it.

Uprising Pit is so hot.

>that voice acting
>that online
Never again.

One of the best games ever just for the dialogue alone.

I found the dialogue kinda annoying at times, except Hades, that absolute madman was absolutely perfect.

It seriously does feel like a once in a lifetime game.

youtube.com/watch?v=iQsj-HlXCMc

I wonder why the original Kid Icarus game never really took off.

>buy 3ds
>don't buy Uprising because reviewers say it's shit
>wait a few years
>it's 20 bucks on the eshop
>why the hell not
>it's pure ludo
I pinpoint this as the exact moment I realized game journos are the cancer killing games. I long for a sequel to this game more than anything else.

>tfw the three sacred treasures are shit on 9.0

KI:U is a weird game because the heavy meddling in the localization made it much better

Hades is nowhere near as memorable a character in Japan, he's just generic and boring

It was the less popular clone of a series that never sold much.

Viridi is the best goddess and has the cutest voice.

Because better versions of it existed in Metroid and Zelda 2.

That said, I wouldn't mind if Nintendo gave Mercury Steam a shot at remaking the original Kid Icarus after how they made a pretty good remake of Metroid 2.

>Sakurai's talent will forever be sucked into Smash Bros like a black hole
Honestly. I fucking love Smash Bros, but if 4 wasn't missing Ice Climbers and split content between two versions of the game I'd be more than OK with the series just ending there and Sakurai becoming unfettered by demand and just able to make the games he wants.
Air Ride and Kid Icarus Uprising are two of my all time favorite games. I need more novel concepts from him. I also really need to stop putting off playing Meteos.

JP version anyone?
youtube.com/watch?v=plwUMrFe2Lg&t=941

>every doubting our boy Sakurai

Fuck your Kid Icarus
Its had its turn, it can go back to being forgotten
Now is the time for ICE CLIMBERS to be brought into 2018

>Pit, i'm already half Xehanort!
What did he mean by this?

Didn't Sakurai say that he wasn't going to work on any more Smash games after Smash 4?

How rude! You know he has a flight problem!

I would say it's very unfaithful in terms of the accuracy of the translation, but in return it's a very good localization.

so how come Zelda kept going, if Zelda 2 was a worse version of Zeliard?
they were released less than a year apart and zeliard was the better of the two by far

Its localization was Phenix Wright tier. I wish more games tried that.

No he never said that
Have never played Kid Icarus but heard it was really good and the controls were pretty intense. Would it be possible for a Switch port?

Zelda had the first game to build on, whereas Kid Icarus's black sheep is the first game.

Better marketing and Zelda 2 rode on the hype and success of the original LoZ.

He's said this after quite literally every game in the series.
Unfortunately I dont see a world where we get both a free Sakurai and Smash Bros getting a dignified ending/nonbastardized milking

What would the sequel be about?

If it used the Switch's touchscreen, yes, but i don't think anyone wants to make a game that only works in portable mode
Many people say that the game would work just fine with a dual analog control scheme, but i heavily disagree with that

It could "work" as a twin stick shooter or with motion controls, but not very well without cranking the sensitivity up.

This, Sakurai only makes Kino, even if it by accident
Meteos is underrated

I'd be fine if they reworked Factor 5's original concept for the reboot but made it more lighthearted.

I wonder why he keeps getting sucked back in if he wants to quit so bad

Well, for one they could write in more villainous gods and goddesses.

They could also go with unleashing creatures like "The Old Ones" and such similar to the Chaos Kin plotline.

Maybe more stuff involving the citizens of the Earth like Magnus and Gaol.

The paycheck must be pretty fat

Probably not. The Switch's touchscreen is not stylus friendly and the Switch is way too heavy to hold with one hand and not fuck up the joycon connector, especially if you're going to be pushing on it with your finger or a capacitive stylus which is gonna run you like 8 bucks. And the kickstand is too shitty for tabletop mode to work.

You could try a gyro+stick moveset like Splatoon's but land combat KI:U was really dependent on 180 flips which you could achieve by flicking the stylus and are not nearly as comfortable or fast on gyro. It lacks in speed and accuracy compared to the stylus aiming which is honestly up there with mouse aiming honestly.

WiiU would have been the time to make a 2 and the ship as sailed unfortunately.

Iwata gave him a dev team for doing Brawl IIRC. And Sakurai mentioned going through with Smash 4 for the third party characters in part.

Listen to most of the quotes in I'd say Hades has a rather similar personality, in fact some of the entertaining quotes are 1 - 1 to the english localization

>miscalculate jump
>accidentally go off screen
>lose
>tedious as fuck castle stages
gee willickers user you tell me

Hades is fine in Japan, not as good as the localization but he's not the zero personality generic that the memes make it out to be. He still does stuff like joke about shitting Pit out.

The controls are alright, I personally had a bit of trouble with the circlepad because I instinctly tapped it and that made me dash, but I can't really blame the game, the retail version came with a smal stand that made the handling much more comfortable, but you have to play it on a table or something, if you hold it with just one hand it can hurt even with small 3DS models. The aiming works pretty well, flicking is a pretty good idea, initially I though a more traditional stylus scheme like in Metroid prime hunters, moon or call of duty DS was a better option, but the land battles are too frantic and the flicking controls give a better horizontal camera movement and don't sacrifice precise aiming.

TL;DR: The controls aren't bad but you have to play on a table or with the Stand they gave with each copy, otherwise you'll get carpal tunnel.

Japanese Hades sounds too much like a joker to me, like a comedian on stage if that makes any sense. English Hades' laid back tone is what sells me to his character

Sup Forums gets triggered at the moment someone don't traslate a phrase 1:1 from japanese to english

They could do a sequel with more typical 3rd person controls (with optional gyro) for the ground areas and not lose much.

But I don't think Uprising ultimately sold enough to justify itself as a franchise.

He reminded me a bit of James Woods' Hades, but gayer.

>all this talk about translation differences
>no one posted the dude doing a playthrough with translations of the Jap dialogue

youtube.com/watch?v=HLxwWB6LsXI

I think it's inappropriate to call it a localization, It's just straight up a rewrite.

It's very rare that a game's script is actually improved in the localization process.

It's often more likely that it just ends up being an awkward translation of the Japanese with all of the sexual/religious/cultural references taken out.

One of the greatest games ever made, an absolute must play.

>there will never be a game this kino ever again
J U S T

Unironically this. If not, definitely at least one of the greatest handheld games ever made

>tfw there will never be a regular boss theme as good as boss fight 1 ever again

If I don't have that extra grip thing they gave away with this game, is it really gonna be that bad to play?

Also, Kid Icarus on the Switch fucking when?

>These things will never be used for anything

The best 3ds game I've played outside of MonHun. It is one of the first of 3ds games that came out but the graphics is pure aesthetic and kino. This also one of the games with amazing dialogue and dub especially Hades, that guy did an amazing job. How can newer 3ds games even compete?

Damn, I just got back into this game for Christmas and now there's a thread on Sup Forums.
It holds up so well, and I love it very much.

I hope they make a sequel, and hopefully with the same writers that did the localization.

...

>They could do a sequel with more typical 3rd person controls (with optional gyro) for the ground areas and not lose much.
Jesus fuck no.

>She had 1 chapter and a few extra lines of screentime
It's not fair, I was hoping that she'd be Viridi's own version of Pit and they'd have a nice rivalry and plenty of banter and fuck

...

...

Dark Pit ended up being Viridi's Pit. Smash 4 dialogue confirmed that Dark Pit joined the FoN post-Uprising.

...

Such a good game, and the first one I bought when I got a 3DS. Music, voice acting, level design, game design, everything. How did Sakurai do it?

I'll have to dig it up and replay sometime, I really haven't touched it since 2012.

Woah shit, I didn't know that.
>the battle isn't over yet
>the probably isnt a teaser for a new game

>If I don't have that extra grip thing they gave away with this game, is it really gonna be that bad to play?
Are you right-handed or left-handed? As a lefty with an old 3DS/no CPP, it was still uncomfortable as fuck even with the grip. Barely did shit for me and I could only play a couple missions at a time before needing a break. Still, I pushed through because everything else in the game was GOAT.

HADES!

PIT!

HADES!

PIT!

Dark Pit isn't loyal to Viridi, that would be 100% out of character. He just works for whoever pays him, and that whoever is currently Viridi.

This is the NES era we're talking about. The KI dungeons were basically babyfied RPG dungeon crawler mazes.

Sakurai is like Konami-era Kojima.
He keeps saying that he's done with the series ever since the second installment, but he can't see someone else working on his baby, and since he is a veteran who gives results, they just let him be.

The camera deciding where the death pit was like that was fucking terrible user

>He didn't make the joke about Thanatos getting free soda

Both deserve to live, but I think Castle Muramasa will have its time to shine next.

>game punishes you for missing a jump
woooooow

I love this game but being left handed made it a bitch to play. And then upgrading to a 3DS XL made it more of a bitch to play.

So I'll probably never finish the last few Challenges

Sorry boys, but the Prince of Sablé is making his triumphant return next.

best couple

>meteos
my nigga
i bought fucking disney meteos for like 5 bucks from a bargain bin just to see what it was like and they fucked it up. you can move the blocks horizontally which basically makes it into an awful baby game. plus none of the original's slick aesthetic.
guess its a dead franchise just like kid icarus sadly

the only thing nintendo did well in the past few years

Really? I'm left handed and I though it was okay

I either had to use the buttons to move Pit, which was awful, or use the stylus with my right hand which was somewhat less awful but I still felt like I was at a disadvantage.

Favorite weapon?

this and viridi palm
