XC2 is the best selling Xenoblade game so yes.

Pandering is all they can do at this point

This image seems like a completely fair and unbiased comparison.

I don't get what the fuck the localization team thought the words "blushy-crushy" would convey. I'm pretty sure a larger portion of your audience would just understand moe instead of made up term like blushy-crushy.

>cherrypicking combat and exploration with a heart to heart

Why is Compile Heart a favorite scapegoat for retards?

They wanted to make sure non-weeaboos playing the game understood the line, just like "one-eyed monster" in place of turtle head in the Japanese script.

Because nu-Sup Forums can't stand how Japan makes games that aren't Call of Duty.

Look at her loli boobs: the game

But "blushy-crushy" isn't a phrase that means anything to anyone.

>loli

???

Japan makes Call of Duty? wtf I love codck now?

>mfw this got a shitload of (You)s twice
Good, fuck this game. What were they even thinking?

>posts the worst dub in the game
Admittedly, when shit gets emotional is when dub matters the most but 95% of the game's dub is on XB1's level.
Everyone remembers XB1 for Fiora's Death, Sorean's death, the Zanza reveal and so forth but the rest of the dub is pretty standard stuff.
Granted, those are the moments that stick with people because they resonate but I replayed it on Wii U recently and I was just thinking about how standard the dub was compared even to P5 or P4. Shulk's yelling and Dunban's entire performance are the actual most memorable things about it

It's one of their worse picks, but it's annoying to translate moe as anything other than "cute".

Maybe "cutesy-wootsey"?

You're right, this looks like if Neptunia and Tales had a retarded baby.

"Gotta get this dub done, they want a fucking December World Wide release. That vandam scene was pretty flat but we can't set up a thing to show every VA their scenes and we don't have time to redo it, fuck it"

Redoing Chapter 3's end, Chapter 6's end and Chapter 7's end's dubs should be the biggest thing they focus on in future patches, more than performance or QoL stuff

thankfully X2 is a step up in every other way

>Blushy-crushy
Does she actually say this seriously? Or is she being sarcastic? Context please

If you had the misfortune of actually playing a Compile Heart game you'd know Xenoblade 2 is nothing like them.

It clearly means something to Tora.
I mean, I got the intent of what he was saying when he said "Maid-y"
Tora the Nopon says it, and no one in-game gets what he means either

That could be due to the console being a success
I know the first was on Wii, but in limited supply and at the end of its life

No one denies there's plenty of pandering, but at least it's around an actual video game.

I unironically love this shit. I want to see Monolith Soft do the next Neptunia game.

I can only imagine it means blushy (as in prone to blushing, either from embarrassment or arousal) plus "crushy" (as in, being attractive, or worthy of being the object of one's crush).

In other words, blushy-crushy is the quality of being waifubait.

Pretty much. Waifu-bait pretty much synonymous with Moe, which was the actual term used so it's appropriate I guess

>XC1 comes out near the end of the Wii's life cycle
>X comes out on a dead console
>XC2 comes out in the prime of a successful consoles life span
It would have been the best selling game no matter what they did with it.

Don't forget we had to fight to get XC1 over in the states, and it was being sold at a high price at gamestop's exclusively if I'm remembering the entire debacle correctly.

Not necessarily. It's a niche franchise in a niche genre and appeals mainly to Nintendo diehards.

>this webm again

Except it is. See . Our once beloved Xebo series is just one big pander sludge of shit now.

Fucking this. Everyone who has played this trash knows it.

>thankfully X2 is a step up in every other way
OH NO NO NO NO AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Name one area where X2 is not better than X1 beyond the dub.
Again, X1 is a 9/10 but if you go down category by category, X2 is actually better.

Riki is still #1 Nopon though. Tora is a close second

You again? How obsessed are you?

>see a poorly dubbed joke

You are ill.

Again, if you played a CH game you'd know they're nothing like what you posted.

Xenoblade 1 is a 6/10 at best.

howden really carried shulk huh

>hikari is a normal girl's name meaning light
>change her name to an iranian god known for killing bulls
>instead of lucy, a normal girl's name meaning light
>or just leaving it because only retards translate proper names
explain this nint*ddlers

Hey Eric, How's the minecraft livestream thing going?

Stop responding seriously you idiots. Your efforts at legitimate argument are wasted. How can you not recognize the same shitpost patterns over and over again?

I dunno, I had a pretty great time with it and its twists were genuinely unexpected and added a lot to the themes.
And the world was pretty great, 6/10 is pretty harsh (unless you go by Angry Joe scale)
Yeah, he really poured himself into it. When Shulk was desperate or in pain, you really felt it (memes aside). Plus no one else was ever flat during an emotional moment, so the game basically had two modes (neutral and emotional) that it hit pretty accurately.

BTFO 8 bit Eric you assblasted hack

Yeah. Shulk's not massively offensive or anything except for one stupid moment, but the performance makes it.

>just thinking about how standard the dub was compared even to P5 or P4
You're nuts. Everyone in Xenoblade was great and gave it their all. Reyn was a particular highlight to me. Vastly superior to generic anime voice failing to pronounce words correctly.

Also Xenoblade deserves a lot of credit for its cinematography, editing, and sound. Everything feels really cohesive in the cutscenes. I don't think Xenoblade 2 did this as well.

Compare this
youtube.com/watch?v=VCnDFJS4KG4
with all of its creative cuts and angles to every fucking Persona cutscene where everyone just stands around and animates like marionettes to a static camera. Or the awful animated scenes that somehow have had the same sound mixing problem for like a decade.

don't mind me lads

It's OK when Nintendo does it.

That's fair actually.
Xenoblade 2 has a really weird thing where there's essentially two tiers of cutscenes, good and bad, and you can tell which is which by whether you hear background noise like footsteps or not.
Xenoblade 1 had great cinematography, like you mention, but I never really felt a great amount of character or attitude from characters other than Shulk in the emotional scenes and Dunban all the time (and Riki by property of being a Nopon).
In terms of the dub itself, I just felt like 90% of Xenoblade 1's dub was pretty standard stuff like P4 and P5. Reading lines and intonating appropriately but nothing particularly stand out that you could feel the character and personality radiating from (again, aside from Dunban)

This but without skyrim and og deus ex instead of hr

youtube.com/watch?v=mYmlcJi5ZfE

Xenoblade 1's use of music in cutscenes is spot on. The song building up to when Egil removes the monado from his shoulder really makes the scene.

For me, the English voice actors embody those characters. It fits like a glove. Reyn is perfect as a big lovable dumb guy. Melia sounds exactly right for a high class princess. The villains are all hamming it up like crazy. Mumkhar.

I played all of these games in English first (at least for a little while in the case of P5), and the only game where I found switching to Japanese to be weird is Xenoblade.

Again, I didn't have an issue with them but I guess I just didn't really resonate with the rest of the cast like everyone else did.
Like, Shulk's yelling is pretty good but I actually put P5's Ryuji's "STOP LOOKIN DOWN ON ME WITH THAT STUPID SMILE ON YOUR FACE" as one of the better lines I've heard in a dub.

I dunno, maybe I'm just jaded. I mean, for me, my favorite bits of voice acting are basically most of the cast of Hellsing Ultimate. That's the bar I hold most everything else to in terms of objective quality and creative execution so maybe my standards are sort of high or esoteric at the very least

I wonder if working on the Wii made it more important to have that kind of editing since all of the assets are so low fidelity.

Well it was certainly better than the Japanese version of the scene which I don't even remember.
