Games Sup Forums lied to you about being bad

Games Sup Forums lied to you about being bad.

Not a bad game but worst in the series.

>take an elevator from a poison swamp land up
>end up in an iron lava castle

Makes sense. DS2 is fun but has glaring flaws.

Vanilla is pretty stank from what I've seen though.

I've only played Scholar (and still do) but yeah.

holy shit, fpbp.

Who the fuck cares about the lava and swamp shit? What kind of autist would be bothered by that one transition for the entire playthrough? You should be more concerned by the stiff combat and the enemies that all use the same 3 attack combo.

You can say this in every thread.

Still doesn't make it true in any sense.

the only people who think Ds2 is actually bad are people who can't form opinions of their own. Ds2 is a good game and happens to have the most glaring flaws of the saga. But it's still a good game. Hell, I'd call it a great game.

>You should be more concerned by the stiff combat and the enemies that all use the same 3 attack combo.

and the fact ADP exists

ds2 actually has the best and most difficult combat in the series. In the other games you can just roll straight through an enemies weapon without taking damage, in ds2 if you roll a split second too early you're fucked.

and the earthen peak to iron keep thing is really fucking retarded, no idea how the entire team thought it was OK.

Having played both, I like scholar better so you're not missing out. Random difference I'll point out is in the original, they automatically give you the items to access the dlc as soon as you boot up your character where as in scholar they're in specific locations you have to go out and find.

It's the fucking art and "THIS ROOM WILL BE A BOX" design that makes me sad

ADP too

what the fuck

You may as well just say "upvote"

>in ds2 if you roll a split second too early you're fucked.

because of ADP/Agility

yeah, it makes the game more interesting. ds2 has the best options for builds and playstyle. ds3 has the worst.

Makes me think they skipped a level. There was probably a mine or something before that elevator. It's probably the only glaring transition of scenery in the game.

I don't find it "more interesting" when I successfully dodge an attack as perfect as possible but still take damage no matter what because my iframes are a stat. Also "builds" don't exist in dark souls 2 because they built the game around you never stop leveling. Soul memory alone is plenty reason enough to never stop leveling in itself.

>Soul memory alone is plenty reason enough to never stop leveling in itself.

didn't the "we swear we made it not suck" edition of DaS2 give you a ring that makes it so Soul Memory is not an issue?

Yeah they came out with the "agape ring" which made it so your SM stops going up but that of course means you're short 1 ring.

All of my THIS

2 was fun because it took chances. 3 had tons of uninspired level design and was straightforward and boring. 2 had the worst boss fights though

You're right , bad is too high of praise for this pile of shit. The other games in the series are bad.

ADP would be a great system if iframes weren't there to hide the dogshit hitboxes. without enough iframes it becomes really obvious how shitty they really are, especially grabs.
the problem is that attacks which are nowhere near you will still hit you unless you've got the iframes. I'd happily give up iframes if it meant I could roll away from an attack and take no damage because the animation didn't connect.

...

This is extremely true. It really wouldn't feel as fucked if hitboxes were proper. Also one thing I'm not a fan of is that when an enemy begins it's attack, the entire hitbox becomes a danger zone instantly. They don't need to follow through with the animation for them to do dmg to you, you'll just take the damage from the first frame the animation starts in. This doesn't apply to every enemy/boss but it does for a lot.

The only person lying to you is yourself.
