The planet Motavia in Phantasy Star.
See that green area? That's not a nice pleasent grassy field, it's deadly poisonous gas. The holes all over the place, those are giant bloody double Australian size spider pits. Step outside the one comfy high tech place on the planet and you'll be assaulted by sand worms, little furry aboriginal cunts who want to eat your nuts (of Learma) and all sorts of nasty shit. It's uninviting and bleak, as a desert should be. But the music is fun and upbeat making it all comfy somehow.
